Robert was an exceptional server who showed extra attention to all of our dining needs. He made our experience at BASILE very memorable. Would highly recommend the food and the service of such a fine establishment. The bartender, Tyler crafted the most exquisite drinks you could imagine.
Great service. Excellent staff. I had the masala ravioli. It was a unique and delicious experience. My first time here. Will definitely go back.
Just a overall awesome experience.food ,service,ambiance-everything was exceptional.
This was our first visit. BASILE exceeded all expectations.
Amazing food and even better service. Bartender Tyler made the night be back soon!
We are regulars at Basile. We love the food and great friendly service. We went on last day before the State curfew to support our favorite restaurant.
The food was very delicious and creative. I enjoyed the spin on things. The space is beautiful and romantic. I highly recommend this restaurant especially on the warmer months they have outdoor seating and you can see the hustle and bustle of the downtown Boston area. Look forward to my next meal!
Ate at 5pm so restaurant was very quiet. Food was excellent. Will definitely be back. There is a number things on the menu I want to try. Service was very good too.
Great experience, excellent food and superb customer service.
Food was good, people were lovely. When the restaurant week menu was published, there was no mention of an upcharge on many (almost half) the choices. Should have been more transparent
Saturday night at Basile with my husband and daughter two weeks ago (likely our last meal out for a while!) - enjoyed a fabulous meal attended to by Rob - thoughtful, not intrusive, magically appeared when needed. We enjoyed the antipasti appetizer along with main courses of mouth-watering salmon, spaghetti bolognese and crab ravioli, followed by the chocolate souffle. Highly recommended
Very nice restaurant great food and great waiters very attentive. Willl definitely come back again
Great food and atmosphere! Might be difficult having a larger party because the inside is on the smaller side but would be perfect if a party of 2-5 people
Very accommodating - we had accidentally gone during restaurant week and some items we planned on ordering were not on that specific menu, but the staff still offered the regular menu upon request, which was thoughtful.
We came here to celebrate a friends birthday during Dine Out Week. Unfortunately many of the entrees were up charged but this wasn’t indicated online and not easily marked on the menu. Our waitress didn’t even confirm this when we ordered items and didn’t see to care when we pointed out how it wasn’t very visible. Food was decent but overall it is not somewhere I will recommend or ever go back to. On a note they automatically include a 20% gratuity to parties of 4 or more which I haven’t seen that before and was disappointed because the service wasn’t great.
I’ve given it 3 stars and a ‘no’ vote, but it’s a close call. On the plus side, the bartender was very friendly and the food (from apps through dessert) was surprisingly good. On the not-so-great side, the setting is bland, the restaurant is in a lousy location (busy street on a not-so-pretty part of Boston), and mostly, our servers were friendly but kind of ‘out of it’. For example, we had to ask for olive oil 3 times, and they finally brought it after we’d eaten the bread they brought us, and when I asked for a bucket of ice to chill the wine (it was way too warm), they brought us a glass of ice to put in our wine glasses. And then they added a ‘mandatory’ 20% tip since we had a party of 6. So food? Very good. Service? Not so much. If you want to run a 5-star restaurant, you need a 5-star staff, and they don’t have one (yet?).
We celebrated our anniversary at Basile and loved the evening. Staff was wonderful as they know that we were there for a special occasion. Chef made a special pasta dish for us. Food was great and my favorite are the Lamb Chops. Basile is great for that special evening.
Basile is a hidden gem. Seems like not too many people know about it. We had the best Duck ever. Cooked to perfection with right flavors. Great service and location. Can't wait to go back.
I am Italian and know my food. Basile is now my favorite to go out for a nice Italian meal. Great staff and service. We also tried the Cocktail Special of the day - Rosemary Twist. Great creative drink.
Our friend told us about Basile. We loved it. Great food and staff was very friendly. Definite YES for next time !!
We had lobster ravioli and it was the best we ever had. Great restaurant with great food and service. All the staff looked happy. Would definitely recommend Basile.
Someone we know got engaged at Basile on Valentines day. So we wanted to check it out. We loved the experience. I can see why the restaurant is a top choice for being romantic. Lot of fresh flowers, chic decor with Italian touch. Great food and Service. Hint to my boyfriend :)
Huge disappointment for Valentine’s Day .
They tout most romantic Italian restaurant in Boston. Rated By whom? Not even close. Food was not up to par with many other Boston restaurants. Chicken Parmesan was huge and bland and lacked real flavors. Rigatoni Bolognese was overcooked dry sauce with undercooked al dente noodles. Hard to believe you can undercook al dente. Desert was a combo of dishes with volcano chocolate cake but it came with the inside overcooked so it was just chocolate cake. When I asked the waiter came back from the kitchen saying they don’t offer molten volcano on Valentine’s Day because it would take too long to cook . WTF have you got it on the menu for ?
We chose from standard menu and the selections were quite limited. My wife who loves Italian and we travel to Italy regularly was hard pressed to find something she wanted.
Don’t waste your money.
The setting was really pretty and nice. Our waiter was definitely a little rude. But the food was really good, a little pricey. overall it was a romantic nice, would come back.
Food was terrible and overpriced. Service was only OK - understandable bc it was valentines but food quality inexcusable.
We went for a valentines 4 course meal. They served us the wrong course. They gave me food I was allergic to and then took it away from me halfway through and didn't replace it for 25 minutes, causing my boyfriend and I to eat our courses separately. They messed up my boyfriend's order twice. We talked to a manager and he didn't seem phased by the lack of service.
Overall, I'd recommend skipping this place if you're looking to receive the meal you requested in a reasonable hour with decent service from your waiter. We had another waiter take over and serve us because our server went waiter went missing.
Absolutely amazing service, everyone is very courteous. Definitely recommend!
So it might have just been that night but they didn't look like they had their stuff together. Our waiter who was very nice, looked like he was a bit overwhelmed and trying to move too fast and do too many things at the same time.
They seated us near the door, of course it's Boston in February, so every time the door opened cold air would wash onto my wife who was not happy. I'd say the food was okay. I had a steak special which was delicious. My wife was not happy with the menu and ordered two appetizers for dinner but of course they brought them both at the same time even though she said one of these is my dinner.
A fairly new restaurant, I think. Someone needs to tell them how to spell, though - so many mistakes on the menu! If you are going to use Italian words, why not check first to use them correctly? And "dejon mustard?" It makes you worry that someone is clueless. That said, the food was very good. I had the rigatoni bolognese (recommended by the Globe, apparently) and it was excellent. Service and atmosphere need a little work, but all in all pretty good.,
Food was average. Seat was close to door and was cold whenever door opened. I had to ask to place our order and for check after waiting quite a while for both .
This was our first visit to Basile and we would return. The atmosphere was quiet and elegant. We were waited on right away. I was sure what wine I wanted and the waiter came back with 2 tasting samples. We are light eaters and requested sharing a salad and an entree. The chef separated our request in the kitchen which was very helpful. The food was well presented and delicious. there are a few desserts which require 20 minutes of preparation so it's best to place a particular dessert order when the entree arrives.
Everything we ordered was amazing. We shared two appetizers: prosciutto asparagus and scallops. Then rigatoni bolognese and the lamb chops - OMG. We were quite sated but couldn't pass up ordering the apple crostini for dessert. Perfect ending to our perfect dinner. Kudos to our server Rob who was so helpful in guiding us through the menu and the wine list.
The food was good but the service was slow and their computer crashed so we had to give a credit card and an email to be billed the next day. Very strange. You would think restaurants would have a back up plan.
My wife and I ate there for the first time on 1/18/20. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. One of the finest dining establishments I have ever been to. Excellent food throughout from appetizers through dessert. Everything was delicious. Very attractive setting, excellent waiter. Fair prices for the quality. An easy walk from the Boston Park Plaza Hotel. We hope to go back there during our next visit to Boston.
There is a fantastic atmosphere, great service, and a phenomenal menu. Everything one needs to enjoy a great meal.
Hidden gem for great Italian food and service. Restaurant has the positive vibe and staff is friendly.
Better food than North end. Great service and atmosphere.
Glad we discovered Basile. Not too many restaurants have 'vegetarian' Chef Tasting. We enjoyed our FIVE COURSE Vegetarian dinner. Great food and service. My favorite!!
Terrible evening on all levels
