The food was average, but was super overpriced. By 6:30 pm, the lights were dimmed so much, that it was hard to see. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. For the prices they charge, the food, portions, service, and / or atmosphere should have been much more special. Unfortunately, none of the above was all that special.
Absolutely wonderful- service, food, ambiance. We did the Date Night Package - which was priced great for all you get!
Visiting from out of town and had a Father - Son dinner at this restaurant. My mistake as this place has no kids menu but they accommodated my suggestions for a meal for a 6 y/o.
Server forgot my app and initial drink, waiting on too many tables at the same time for one person. Food was OK. This place is more of a date night spot where the food would be secondary to the company across the table.
Had wondeful time at Basile. Delicious Scallops and great Lamb Chops. Good selection of wines and cocktails. Loved everything!
Nice restaurant in Boston. We enjoyed great Italian food with Italian music playing in the background. We loved the special Surf-n-Turf. Reasonably priced and great selection of wines.
Perfect for romantic evening. Date Night expereince was great. Lovely food and wine with my beautiful girlfriend. We will be back.
We ended up getting the date night special. The four course dinner was really a treat. Our Server took care of everything. We just relaxed and enjoyed the dinner choices with the house red wine. Loved the experience and the company on our special date night.
Everything about our dinner for two was excellent. My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful arugula salad, followed by chicken parmigian for her and lamb chops for me. Our shared dessert was a delicious tiramisu. The Italian Montepulciano and Cabernet Sauvignon wines were excellent.
Great service that did not rush our meal.
Of course, we'll come again, probably soon!
All wonderful. Except deafening. Ask for a table off in a corner if you want quieter.
Great dinner, very good food, good service, pleasant atmosphere
It was a great birthday dinner. Efficient service, delicious food as always. Happy to get our usual table.
The service was great. They anticipated every little thing. We ate outside. It was quiet and perfect for what we wanted. The food was good, but I wouldn’t call it great.
Delicious food, generous portions, perfect outdoor dining. Wish we lived in Boston to be able to return often! Very friendly service.
Amazing food and cocktails. we had a business dinner and everyone was pleased. Food and service was great. Great place for business dinners. We will be back soon.
Great Italian restaurant in Boston. We live in Florida and glad we found a restaurant with great food and service in Boston.
Originally didn’t plan on going to BASILE. I was going to another Italian Restaurant that starts with an M. They don’t do walk-in. Went to BASILE instead. I did use Open Table however they did take walk-in. The staff super friendly. Sam the waiter was great. The Food was Amazing! Drinks on point. The ambience and vibe perfect.
The restaurant didn’t acknowledge that we actually dining there twice. Maybe they don’t know how to manage the open table reservation?
Delicious homemade pasta with the best tomato sauce. Adorable, attentive waitstaff.
Was our anniversary and they had a special set up with candles, roses and little hearts!
The food was excellent as was the service. The cod and the seafood was of exceptional quality and the sauces were subtle but good. The apple crostata was excellent as was the gelato - and well worth the 20 minute wait. The prices are steep with most entrees ranging in the $35-50 range so, while the food was really good, come prepared to spend a substantial amount.
Wow! Why haven’t I been here before? What a glorious evening!
We sat outside on a deck raised above Columbus Avenue and enjoyed delectable meatballs and prosciutto wrapped figs with Gorgonzola to start. Pasta Bolognese with lamb lived up to its hype as the best in Boston and the halibut was superb as well. Fabulous tiramisu wrapped it up. Excellent wine list with many Italian selections at a variety of price points. The Basile branded organic Sangiovese was great for the price. Basile’s is definitely on the list of places to dine again.
Great selection of Italian / Jazz music. We had Basile Antipasti and Dolci samplers. Both were absolutely heavenly. Four different appetizers and desserts. Food and Wines were simply great. Loved it.
Perfect patio dinner experience on a perfect summer night. Great food, wine and service. Scallops were outstanding. Lamb Chops cooked to perfection. We will be back soon....
Really a boutique Italian restaurant. Everything was about quality for food, service and drinks. We had a small party for our corporate dinner and they made it a great experience for everyone. We will book more business meetings at Basile.
Great food and ambiance
Service was impeccable! Atmosphere was amazing and their music selection brought me to a bygone era! Food away delightful! Cannot wait to go back!
Loved the salmon specials, gluten free options
The fra diavolo was ok I like it spicier
Basile is very well designed to deliver the fine dining experience yet it's not that uptight that can make you uncomfortable. Good for enjoying Italian food and wines. Loved it and will highly recommend.
Unique cocktails added to our overall great experience at Basile. Empress Aviation is our favorite. We had Lamb Chops that were perfectly cooked and served. Service was great and everyone seem to be enjoying on a very busy night.
Two stars for the food. Went today for the restaurant week menu. Food was overall tasty, but service was horrible, so many stupid mistakes. Right off the bat, asked for still water, got a bottle of sparking. Then ordered a bottle of white wine, the waiver brought up a bottle of red wine. Preposterous. Service was very slow as well, waited almost 50 mins for appetizers to come out. We had 4 people in our party, but the waiver forgot to ring in one of the entrees… on top of all this, 20% gratuity was automatically added to the bill. Will not come back, many other great Italian places to choose from. This place is not worth the hassle.
Basile was very busy. Glad we made the reservation in advance and got a nice table on the patio. Perfect experience for outdoor dining with great cocktails. We tried pretty much all the Basile cocktails. 'Fig Blessings' was our favorite.
We will come back to try the wines :)
Not good. The meatball was a rubber bouncy ball. I received a chicken nugget for dinner instead of a chicken parm. Service was basically non existent. Waiter was more concerned with having a drink than serving us ours.
Always wanted to check out Basile and the restaurant week gave us that opportunity. Good to see that restaurant was totally booked. They were not taking any walk ins. Of course they were overwhelmed but did a great job managing the flow. Our main entrée was a little delayed but we enjoyed our great wine and cocktails with appetizers. Watermelon salad was simply the best. Overall it was a great experience. We will come back....
Basile has a nice patio. Not some tables on the side walk, a real patio. Had a great outdoor dining experience on a nice summer evening. Food and drinks were great.
Service was extremely slow. We went For restaurant week. We were seated at 7. no one came to the table for about 20 minutes and we didn't get our entree for an hour and 15 minutes. The food tasted very good but the portions were very small. Wouldn't return.
Came here with my husband and young son. The service was poor and not attentive. We asked for things 2-4 times and never received them. The portions were on the smaller side. The Bolognese is indicated on the menu as “best of Boston”, “extremely popular” and other over reaching statements. It was mediocre, maybe a 6/10. The crabmeat ravioli was very good, as was the clam chowder.
The arancini was ok. My 8 year old said the chicken in the chicken pappardelle was dry.
It wasn’t terrible, but I likely wouldn’t return. Maybe if I was going for a work event and someone else was paying.
Overall, I don’t think I would go back. I went with my fiancé for restaurant week and we both were unimpressed. My whiskey drink hardly tasted of whiskey (was whiskey, lemon juice, and grenadine so should have been able to taste) and drinks came out after appetizers. Dinner came right after appetizers and food was good though portion was small (even for the reduced restaurant week price). It took 30 mins to get our appetizers and entrees then an additional 40 minutes for dessert. Food was okay, waitstaff was polite though seemed overwhelmed, overall it was just sort of blah and I’ve had much better meals elsewhere.
A hidden gem for sure. Great food and service. Enjoyed our delicious Italian food with Italian music in the background. Great wine selection. Good to bring a romantic date.
