Tourist from Orlando, FL fresh off a cruise. Fancy dinner in Boston. Nice table at the window. The Robert Mondavi bottle was overpriced and only the initial pour for us. For the price we had expected attentiveness for future pours. The chicken parm was huge, not sure good or bad, looked delicious. Seemed tough and of course unable to eat all. Husband had the seafood mix, Fra divola (?) it was very good. We finished with s dessert drink, The Last Supper, superb!!
The staff was great! Food was decent. Bolognese was very good.
I had eaten here last year when it was DaVinci and was really looking forward to my meal. The service was great but I have to say that the food was not memorable. I had the filet mignon and I have to say it did not really have much flavor - maybe I should have picked an Italian entree. OK but not great.
Liked the restaurant for Italian food. It was busy. They were having a big party on the back side. It was a little loud but lots of good energy. Staff was managing well the big party and the other tables. Try the 'OLD MONK SECRET' - great rum cocktail.
Nice high qua;ity restaurant. Good Italian dishes and wine slection. Like the Wine Flight option to try the variety. Typically in restaurant the house wines are of bad quality. Basile brand wines from Tuscany are great wines. Four different wines of high quality. Great job!
Unfortunately, our first visit was not memorable. We ordered a simple meal of ceasar salads. My guest asked for a poached not fried egg. He got fried. I asked for shrimp. I didn't get it. We had to ask for pepper. The waiter took our bread plates away. When we asked for bread (which we thought would come automatically, we had no plates and had to ask for them. We ordered coffee, but got no spoons.
I think there should be some more training for staff.
Same menu as when it was run by chef Peppino. Good quite good, but not quite exceptional. Decent wine list. Service disconnected and confused at times.
Room was much too cold
Great Lunch Menu. Food and service were excellent. We had the non-vegetarian platter..yummy.
I will consider Basile for business lunch meetings.
We were happy to find Basile for lunch. Not too many options in that area. No wonder the restaurant was packed and they had to turn people away. Lot of people came from the exhibition next door. Food and Cocktails were simply - GREAT !!!
Our favorite restaurant going forward !!! Best Rigatoni Bolognese in New England.
Great place for lunch in the Back bay. They have a great patio. On a nice day nothing like outdoor dining. The cold french rose we had with our meal enhanced our experience. The Basile special lunch platter is designed to give you the variety and great lunch at a reasonable price. Will be back.
Pleasantly surprised by this restaurant that we happened upon because it was close to where we were attending an event. Couldn't have been happier with the food, service, or ambiance. Every bite was a party in my mouth. Highly recommend.
Not many affordable options in this area of the city. The wine list was mediocre at best and they were out of the wine that we were settling on. There were no specials. I can’t remember the last time I went to a restaurant with absolutely no specials. Limited menu as well. Pan seared halibut was overcooked and the quinoa had very little flavor. The rice oudding was delicious. I would not return. Spend a little more and head to Fleming’s or Legal Seafood nearby.
Restaurant hors de prix avec un service déplorable
Food was excellent. Not an extensive menu, but more than enough options. Service was great. We are out in the patio because a private party was inside that was very noisy. I’d assume that’s not normal. I’d recommend it.
Very average food - not worth the price- felt very rushed . Aesthetically pleasing restaurant
We had the vegetarian tasting menu. It was fantastic. Service was top notch as well. We really enjoyed Basile.
The space was a pleasure to dine in. The wait staff was attentive, very pleasant. Each cource was delicious, my favorite was the gnoche with mushrooms, the salad and right down to the cream boule. We will definitely come to dine again soon.
Great food and wonderful presentation for a Dine Out Boston dinner. Service was fine except for the long wait to pay after we received the bill. The kitchen failed to prepare the side dish we ordered. We had to inform the server. It was removed from our bill.
The food and service were both excellent. Highly recommend the bolognese and crab ravioli. We had calamari for an appetizer which was good. There were a few details missed such as serving drinks in wrong glasses and no serving utensils served with our calamari appetizer. We were the only 2 people in the entire restaurant, which was kind of odd and eerie considering it was 7pm on a Saturday night in Boston.
The food was delicious. The dessert was fantastic!
Nice upscale restaurant in Boston with great food and service. We enjoyed the outdoor dining in the great patio they have. We saw they have basil plants growing in the flower pots around the patio. Our cocktail used the fresh basil leaves from the plant. Great cocktail. Overall, we will keep coming back.
Nice and cozy restaurant for a quiet romantic dinner. Great food, service and wine collection. For the time we saw 'wine flights' on the menu. Cool idea.
Oh my, we hoped this would be a good meal. OKAY we are older. Our service was terrible. Food was ok. Never again
Wait staff was very attentive. Food was delicious.
We have been coming to this restaurant frequently. There is a new ownership and I have to say that the food is much better than before. The new Chef is better than than old Chef Pepi. Congratulations to the new team of BASILE, they are doing a great job. Food and Service is top notch.
This is the best restaurant in Boston I have been to. Awesome service and Staffs.
Happy to find a good Italian restaurant in Boston. Food and service was great. Thank you Basile.
Food was great. Must try the unique Ravioli Masala. They were short staffed but they managed very well. Service was good also. Basile is now on my recommendation list.
Basile is a nice place to enjoy quality Italian food. Service was also good. We liked the Italian - jazzy music they play to enhance the overall fine dining experience. We would recommend it.
Very disappointed. Server took our order. entrees came before appetizers. no refill on drinks or offered desserts. 20% undeserved tip added to bill. Restaurant was not busy so not sure why our meal was such a fiasco. There were only 2 other tables. No manager on duty to report our experience.
Hi - Sorry for your recent experience and thank you for your feedback. We will certainly look into this. At the end of the dinner you talked to the floor manager and she also bought this to the attention of the ownership. As a gesture to make this up to you, we would like to invite you for a complimentary dinner for two. Hope you can make it. Ownership
No wonder they only had three table. What an old school restaurant with an outdated menu and wine list. Food was fair at best. It needs to total makeover.
Thank you for your opinion. We will consider your suggestions. We also review all our reviews across all the sites. We got a 5 star review on TripAdvisor the same day: " 7/9/2019 Wow - Gives North End a run for their money Don’t have to go to the North End in Boston for fabulous Italian cuisine. My wife and I had the 5 course meal. Great dinner. Fantastic service."
Enjoyed our dining experience at Basile. We have been coming here regularly. This used to be Da Vinci and they never open the patio in the past. Basile is the newer and modern version with nice patio. The food and the wine menu are much better. Now they have wine flights in the menu. We tried the wine flight of their 4 signature wines. Great Basile signature wines from Tuscany. New team is doing a great job. We will continue to come here and also try the outdoor dining next time.
The tastiest Italian I've had in a while--I got the crabmeat ravioli, while my partner got the veal chop. As appetizers, we ordered two Basile favorites: scallops and calamari. Both were excellently prepared, as were the rest of our courses. They do a mean chocolate souffle (made to order!), that comes with vanilla gelato and a spoonful of mixed berries. Definitely can't wait to go back. Prices are reasonable, quality and service are high. Well done Basile!
Thank you. Appreciate your support!
Walking distance from all the hotels in the city. Great Italian dishes with great selection of Italian wines. Staff was very friendly. We enjoyed the outdoor dinner on the patio. No other place nearby has outdoor dining.
This was a disappointing experience. The first glass of wine was maderized and the bartender admitted to it being open for days (“don’t sell much”). My wife’s Prosecco was flat (leftover bottle from previous night). The bread that came out was cold. I order a martini, sent it back, and got another- both seemed to be using sweet vermouth!! The antipasto plate was a few slices of bologna and salami with olive oil drizzled. While my veal chop was well cooked, the fusion ravioli dish was awful, with bland red sauce that looked like hunts tomato paste. The server tried hard, but everything was working against him. I’m sorry for writing this, but need to be honest.
Hi - Thank you for your feedback. We will follow-up on your comments. We will also talk to our staff to get more insight on your experience. We take such comments seriously, especially when our food quality is questioned. We wish you would have shared your concerns with the manager while you were here. In the spirit of hospitality, we would like to invite you again for a complimentary dinner Hope you can make it.
Food was good ordered a bourbon on the rocks took forever to arrive .
Ordered another at the end of dinner from a man who appeared as the manager I was told they were out of scotch.
Thank you for your feedback. We will follow-up with staff of the noted delays.
Food was quite good.
We did the chef's tasting, which was a good value.
We arrived shortly after opening, and by the time we left the place was at least half full.
They were short staffed on the night we were there, but we weren't in a rush so it didn't really affect us.
We were comped drinks for that reason, even though we didn't complain.
We'll go back the next time we find ourselves in that area.
Nice restaurant with great food and service. Loaction is also close to all the city hotels.
Had great time at Basile. They have a great Patio for outdoor dining. Food was the best. They were busy and service was good.
