Great unique meal. They were out of a few items. Pizza was very good.
It seemed there was a nat problem. The pizza was then cold when served.
We were excited to not try a chain restaurant while in town but a couple of big complaints I have is the cost vs portion sizes. My son’s kids meal was butter noodles and it was extremely small that even my 4 y/o ate the entire thing and with the drink, that we thought was included totaled $9, ($2.50 for a small kids drink). Then we ordered a bruschetta appetizer and it was 4 small pieces of bread with a small scope of bruschetta on top not even covering the full bread. Very disappointing for $10. The calzone was very good but came out burnt on one end. Oh and if you order a side of ranch it’s a small size for $2 and no one gave you that heads up before the bill came. The chicken parm had a spicy marinara sauce that we didn’t love but the chicken itself was great quality just again portion size vs cost seemed small. The staff was friendly overall but again, as a waitress educate your guests on sizes and/or extra costs so we can make a decision.
Visiting from Oklahoma and this was delicious. Service was a little slow but still extremely friendly. Don’t let that deter you from trying and having a beautiful Mountain View. The flavor and charcoal crust was so good! I could eat just the crust alone.
We have Hideaway Pizza where we are from and this 100% tops it flavor wise and unique combos.
The fried mushrooms were tasty too!
If we ever make it back to Colorado Springs, we will definitely try again.
The pizza was good, the place is nice, but it is too expensive. Even the best pizza is just a pizza at the end.
Service was very poor. Waitress had to be called over several times. The cost did not match the food or service. Had hair in 1 of the dishes. Food served very inconsistent. Manager was very defensive and rude. Would not recommend this anyone!!
Found this place through open table when we were looking for a dinner spot on a Saturday night while in Colorado Springs. It was the menu and brick oven that attracted us and we were very pleased with the pizza and beer choices.
Unique pizza, pricey beverages ! Service just ok!
Great meal. So glad the new owners have kept up the excellence we are accustomed to. Will return!
My daughter recommended this out of the way place and she was on target. The eggplant parmesan was delicious and the sauce was perfect on top. My husband ordered pizza and he really liked the toppings and crust. LaTroy our waiter was sweet and made me a special drink because the bartender was out. We will be back to taste the other specialties they have, the manager said they were expanding the bar/ wines. Hope they get Ketel One vodka, its my fav.
Thank you Denise, glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for the feedback on the bar, that is an area we are looking to improve. I enjoy Ketle One too, so that may have to be added.
Everything was delicious! Never been disappointed.
Thank you!!! We are in the process of training new cooks and we and appreciate the feedback!! Please come again.
The food was good, burnt out crust a little too much but there’s a new owner so he’s in still learning the cooking times. The service was ok. Not thrilled that the waitress took the Liberty of pouring the large serving of wine and charged us for it Mares’s of ensuring we wanted the larger glass. I just hope the new owner doesn’t make changes to the food. We knew there was new ownership the second we walked in. There’s also a note at the door stating they are short staffed but there were at least 6 employees standing behind the front podium doing nothing.
The waitress was very unfriendly and not much attention was paid to us. They were out of a lot of stuff and we didn’t like our drinks. Nothing was done to make the visit better
Food was all great (tiny fried bread with mozzarella…yum), but Pizza is exceptional! We are Neapolitan snobs and enjoy finding true Neapolitan pizza when we travel. One day we will make it to Naples. But until then, this place is a must.! Oh, and enjoy the beautiful view of the mountains while you dine outside. Fabulous night. Service short handed but fantastic too. Thank you!
The best pizza in Colorado Springs and it's not close. Good beer and cocktail selection as well. Great for a date, a work party, or just you and your pizza adventure.
As always, the pizza was phenomenal!! Some restructuring of the menu has changed up some of the appetizers, and they weren’t as good as in the past. There was also some odd variation in the cocktails. I would say stick with the pizza and the Italian sodas and you can’t go wrong!
This is such a great place for amazing authentic Italian pizza!
Service was outstanding. Food is excellent, from the salads to the main dishes to desert. This place is an excellent value.
Nicky was an awesome server. She was a hostess and then took it upon herself to be our waitress. She was attentive and had a great sense of humor. We think she should be promoted to manager
I’m not sure if this was because we were there on a weekday evening, but: the margherita pizza was blander than it is supposed to be, (if that’s possible), the eggplant parmigiana was a mountain of penne with a few, very thin, slices of eggplant mixed in, and the tiramisu was missing the coffee entirely. Most of the items on the dessert menu were not available. The appetizers were fantastic. The blood orange soda was good.
It became more of supporting a local business than actually enjoying the meal, that’s how fast the experience went downhill from appetizer to desert. I’ll try them out again sometime, once I can afford to.
The waiter wasn’t able to provide the proper level of service as their wasn’t enough wait staff for the number of diners.
This is one of our favorite places in the Springs. Food is always amazing and service is fantastic. If you are looking for authentic Napoli pizza this is the place.
Pizza was burnt but the crust in the middle was raw
Excellent food and atmosphere! Authentic Napalatana Pizza from Naples, Italy.
I had the ziti Bolognese pasta. I took 2 bites and was done. It was over cooked, tasted burnt and had no flavor and not enough sauce. My server seamed upset and told me that they feel bad for charging me. I said I’m not taking this home. And at the end it was taken off my bill. I may try pizza next time because it’s hard to mess up pizza. I lived in Italy for 5 years and I can say that was not the same.
We have visited here several times over the last few years. Have always had a great experience here. Good food, excellent choice of adult beverages and great service. They do have outdoor seating which is nice too. Highly recommend this eatery....it is local!
Must expecting a high quality pizza. It tasted ok, but the dough was not light and airy. You could not even cut it, because when you tried it just tore.
Being from the NY/NJ area this place would not last. They close at 8pm and I felt rushed. Appetizer came out and 30 seconds later so did pizza. Wings were supposed to be garlic and oil. I can confirm the oil, but no garlic.
Has a lot of potential.
We had the most polite server ever. My boys and i have been traveling for a week and stopped in for dinner. Amazing food and amazing people. Thr Nutella dessert......WOW
Enjoyed Dining At Basil & Barley with a friend. Recommend this place for dinner. Their Italian salads are top notch and you won't find them ln any other regular restaurant. They have a good wine selection and wait saff are knowledgeable about pairing wines with your food selection.
Wonderful way to enjoy our anniversary dinner! Thank you!
Our server Nicole was great. She accommodated our seating preference when we asked to be changed. Very sweet and great attitude. Our beers were very good, our appetizer, also very good. We decided to order pasta instead of pizza this time. Very disappointing. Pasta was dry, had to ask for extra sauce for the chicken Alfredo, they brought at small dish with about 2 tablespoons of sauce. Also ordered the eggplant parmigiana, again dry pasta and 1 thin slice of eggplant, more breading than eggplant and had no flavor. Love their pizza, guess that’s what we’ll be sticking to.
We picked this place for one of our vacation destinations based on reviews and our love of wood-fired pizza. We were seated by a cheerful hostess and then sat for 10 minutes while we perused the menu and watched the hostess take food to tables, seat customers, deliver extra plates and handle carry out customers. The hostess approached our table and asked if anyone had approached our table yet, apologized when we told her no,and took our drink and food order since we had been there so long. We ordered drinks, including a glass of wine, a salad to share, and 2 specialty pizzas. When my husband’s soft drink arrived, he reminded the hostess/waitress about my wine. She told us she was underage and it would have to be served by the waiter. It was at that point we noticed another employee who had been seemingly MIA for most of the time we had been there. Suddenly, our pizzas arrived, followed by our salad. Our table was small and there was little room. Then we were brought plates and a rotary pizza cutter and condiments, also on plates. Still hadn’t gotten my glass of wine. We barely managed everything on our table and removed the unneeded plates and menus that still hadn’t been collected by setting them on the bar. My husband had to approach the waiter behind the bar, who was leaning back fiddling with his electronic device, about the wine. He eventually brought it. We clumsily divided the salad onto our 2 plates and sliced our pizzas which had been made and served so quickly. The crusts were limp and soggy and the pizzas were barely warm, which defies belief after having been baked in a 1000 degree oven.
The hostess/waitress was attentive and apologetic when we told her how everything was, offering us a free dessert and suggesting we not tip, booth of which we refused. We were there less than 45 minutes!
They had live music which was unexpected but nice. Pizza crust had good flavor. I ordered the eggplant parm and it was hard to tell if there was any eggplant on top of the bowl of pasta. It looked like there was some breading, so I'm assuming there was. I told the waitress and she said she'd let the kitchen know, but didn't offer to take it off the bill or get something else. Overall, we were disappointed and don't plan on going back.
Noisy and a lot of people seeming to be learning as they went but that was mostly due to reopening after a pandemic.
The staff was very accommodating for a large party when the weather went bad. Our reservation was for outdoor seating, but they moved us inside. Very friendly staff too!!!
They were out of many things, our reserved table wasn’t actually reserved. Very pricey. Pizza was good, dessert was meh
I bought that the portions were much smaller than when I’ve ordered the same items. Service was excellent. Food was delicious as usual.
We have loved going to Basil & Barley in the past. This time wasn’t great. First off, our waitress was a tad gruff BUT she was also the only one working! I don’t blame her. There were other employees standing around - maybe they aren’t allowed to waitress and only hostess and bus. Not sure what that was about. This poor girl was running around trying to help every table. It was a little ridiculous. Yes we had to wait for help and drinks and food but she was doing the absolute best she could. They were out of the good stuff for appetizers. The lasagna was abysmal. It was SO tiny and flat. It was ridiculous. It seemed like portions were smaller, prices were not. And dessert - somehow the brownie was burned in the middle. You could smell something burnt when it was brought to our table and lo and behold it was the inside of the brownie. Overall quite disappointing this time. Not sure we’ll come back a 4th time. It’s really too bad.
We were seated in the back next to the patio door and so every 5 seconds the door was opened and the sun would blaze through so we could not have a conversation while looking at each other. It was very annoying. Also, the pasta came to the table cold so we had to send it back. After that, the food was good.
It was just an ok experience over all.
