Basalt Restaurant @ Dukes Lane Market and Eatery
BASALT is a Waikiki restaurant that embraces our local Island culture. We salute our life-long heritage of multiculturalism. And yet, we love to introduce unique ways to look at local cuisine by introducing International flavors and unusual pairings to intrigue and delight our guests.
BASALT’s aim is to involve you, excite you, and captivate you. Our Asian-influenced Global cuisine will consistently remind you of why the Hawaiian Islands are a special place of Aloha… to be, experience, and love.
Awesome experience. The staff was extremely attentive thru the whole evening. Max was our server and attended to every detail and explained everything every step of the way.
Great food and value, great live music
Second time we have been here and it will not be the last. The Prix Fix meal for 43$ is a great deal! The lobster bisque reminds me of back on the east coast. The ambiance is fine. You right between two busy streets and I enjoy the city feel. The live music is always a good touch.
The service was good, but the first time we were here it was incredible. That being said, there was nothing wrong with it the second time at all.
Can not wait to be back for restaurant week!
Very nice restaurant setting and ambiance, great service and food. We both had the Sunset Special, but chose different options, it was delicious. Lobster Bisque, mixed green salad, Seafood Grill, Prime Rib and then desserts were an amazing creme brulee and chocolate torte. Good price for the amount of food. The charcoal rolls were delicious.
We love going to Basalt for breakfast and dinner. We used to go for Happy Hours as well, but lately they have move the time to end at 5pm - which is too early for us (I think it used to be till 6pm). Free parking is easy in the Hyatt Centric Building.
Food was great and fresh. Service was excellent. Would recommend to anyone who is expecting a great dinning experience.
There’s inside seating and outside seating. No booths. Bathroom is outside by the outside seating on the side. The live ambient music ended at 9pm (I don’t know when it started).
Charcoal pandesal (complimentary) - color is completely black; so soft and warm however no flavor but that’s fine. YUM!
Got the prime rib (medium) - bland; came with green beans, one carrot with the carrot top and entire carrot cut in half and fresh mashed potato
NY Steak (medium) - EXCELLENT!!! Gonna get it again! Came with gnocchi which was good. Gravy was good.
Lilikoi Creme Brûlée - great! Wasn’t tart and wasn’t eggy! So lite!
Zen Cooler - yummy
17th Year Hibiki - yes...they had it!
Parked in the Hyatt Centric/Nordstrom parking garage.....3-hours validated parking. Yay!
Food was fresh and delicious! I LOVED the prime rib, cooked perfectly. It wasn’t fatty and cooked over and over. I hope they never stop making this, it was REALLY great! And I love that the Au jus was real Au jus and NOT thickened like gravy. Everyone who ordered the Irvine rib got the Yukon mash which everyone was raving about. The charcoal rolls were very soft, warm and delectable. The adobo chicken wings and scallops were very tasty and had wonderful flavor. The salads both had great dressing and were eaten up quickly. My friend enjoyed her pork ragu pasta. We didn’t get to try any dessert but next time! The only thing I wasn’t expecting was the way the restaurant was set up, I was expecting a stand alone restaurant but there were a bunch of little concessions and basalt was in its own blocked off area. We definitely still had our own privacy though and could chat. There were a lot of people in the kitchen busily working and a great bar in the center. It was a very lively atmosphere with some great live music. What a great time we had!
The food here is excellent, the service very friendly, We are sure this will be a very successful restaurant in Waikiki.
Excellent food and service
Wonderful meal, very reasonable for being in hawaii. We ate outside and would have been nice to have a better view. Live guitar music was wonderful! We will def be back!
We were very impressed with our dining experience at basalt. I had the sea bass, my husband had that lamb, and my friend had the scallops. Each one of us said Yum after everybody! The staff was amazing, and they even brought a birthday dessert for my friend Donna.
The food was delicious, especially the charcoal pancakes. The staff was very friendly.
This was a very nice place for dinner. We loved the meal, drinks and ambiance. We will definitely be back!
Great restaurant in an excellent location - at the heart of Waikiki; Dukes Lane. Excellent food and service. Found sitting right under an air conditioning vent a bit too cold so asked to move tables. Great wine selection.
We enjoyed it so much we ate there three times during our stay in Honolulu. Gema was wonderful especially when some other guests were not patient. Excellent food and environment!
Waiter never introduced himself. I had to ask what the fresh fish was. He had zero personality.
He had a young woman shadowing him, her name was Maddie. She was super friendly, followed up efficiently and made the night.
Keep her, get rid of what’s his name ( he had a man bun)
we have been here for dinner a couple of times but today we came for a specialty breakfast. we ordered the charcoal buttermilk pancakes. the visual plating was much better than the taste. Very hot and dense, with fruit and charcoal whipped cream that was delicious but guava strawberry sauce was too sweet. We will come back again probably for lunch or dinner because the service is very attentive.
The Sunset Special seemed like a good choice. I confirmed with server that the serving size was the same as if I ordered the regular dishes off the menu. The Lobster Bisque was OK but lacking much lobster. The mixed seafood plate was very good but extremely small. The service was almost nonexistent and my desert was served just as I dropped my fork to complete the entry. I guess they know how hungry you must be after finishing the tiny entry!!!
Ate here fo breakfast several times. Best food and value.
Catered to exactly what I wanted.
We started with Lobster Bisque which was rich and delicious. I then had the best piece of beef I've ever eaten. It was the Prime Rib, cooked medium rare, which is what I asked for, and it was full of flavour and so tender. Finished off with a Creme Brulee, which had passionfruit in the nice crunchy top, beautiful. The service here was really good. They looked after us and interacted with us in such a great way. It helps to have a memorable dinner.
Basalt has an amazing Prime Rib. The grilled seafood dish was also wonderful. One of the top restaurants in Waikiki in my opinion.
The food and service were excellent! We enjoyed the live music (especially since it was not too loud) and the wine tasting portions.
Our server, Max was very informative and pleasant. He provided helpful suggestionsand made our dining experience very enjoyable. we will definitely return.
We were a party of 8. Wait staff was attentive and polite. Food is very good. Will be back.
Good food, good service and great value. Especially the pancake.
Amazing food and great, casual vibe. The service was also really good.
Always great and accommodating for my food allergies.
We celebrated my sister’s birthday! This is our third time at this restaurant!
The food was excellent and out of the ordinary. We would have liked a quieter atmosphere. Over hearing the conversation and laughter from other tables and the cars and motorcycles down the ramp was too distracting. We had a hard time hearing our own table conversation. The service was superb as the servers were very attentive. The live music was good but got lost in the surrounding noise. Any louder would have been too much.
One of my favorite restaurants to go to whenever I’m in Honolulu. Great food, service and presentation.
Tucked back in Dukes Lane, is this hidden gem of a restaurant. Tremendous food, good bar drinks and while it can be a bit loud, there is entertainment and overall relaxed vibe. For a great meal and not too pricy, it's a good place to eat in Waikiki.
Beautiful food, well presented and great outside atmosphere. Service was outstanding and the servant was so helpful and good at explaining what ever questions we had.
Delicious food, lovely live music. Service was friendly but rushed even when the restaurant was about a quarter full and there was no seating line. Salad came first, appetizer landed just as we started salad...entree arrived while I was still eating salad and before I started appetizer. Enjoyed the New York steak and pork belly buns. Recommend requesting the pace you want in course delivery.
Basalt is not an individual restaurant, it is co-located in an "eatery" with multiple restaurants. I was very disappointed. My wife loved the Caprese salad. I had the duck empandas that were tasteless. I also had a Mai Tai that tasted like it had maraschino cherry juice added. Finally, the asparagus in bacon tasted like asparagus in bacon. This is not an upscale dining experience, and don't be fooled into believing so.
Excellent table service and food presentation was perfect.
Friendly staff and delicious food, the charcoal pancakes are a must try item!
French toast is great! Very light and toasty on the outside and airy in the middle. Not your typical heavy French toast.
