Bas Rouge

Dinner at Bas Rouge is the top of the scale. Everything is done to perfection. The presentation, quality of food and wine selection it really the best on the whole peninsula. We can’t wait to go back again. Hopefully sooner than later.

A lovely, elegant restaurant highlighted by warmly professional service. First courses were memorably delicious show-stoppers. Main courses were less so; perhaps we should have asked for details before ordering (Is the flounder fried or broiled?) We will make different choices on our next visit, but we will hope to make that next visit soon.

Oh my goodness! From the moment we walked through the door to the moment we left, it was a simply sublime experience. I rated every category "outstanding" because this restaurant does everything perfectly. The wait staff was friendly and attentive and the food! AHHHHH!!! The food! My husband and I each had something different. I had the tuna tartare (wonderful), and the skate wing (yum) and he had pappardelle, cappellini, and beef short rib (he declared each fantastic). We also had cocktails and a glass of wine. It was such a fun, unique and special experience. Thank you to the staff for making us feel so welcome!

I celebrated a real estate sale by taking my clients to lunch at Bas Rouge, a tradition that started last year when I sold them a new house. The food and service at Bas Rouge are terrific, but the atmosphere is the bigger draw for me. It’s simply lovely. There is nothing overstated about it - it’s quietly beautiful in every way. We had a relaxed, wonderful time.

This is simple the only restaurant on the Eastern Shore which consistently has the standards and performance of top places in major metropolitan areas. It's expensive but by and large menu imagination and delivery match the cost. It's always our first choice for a celebration.

What an outstanding experience! Service: top notch. Ambiance: just lovely. They clearly went above and beyond to cater to our wishes.
I particularly enjoyed the tuna tartar app, the watermelon-crab app, the cod entree and the cosmo cocktail.
I can't wait to find another special occasion to celebrate at Bas Rouge.
