A sumptuous and elegant place for a special dinner. The food presentation was divine! Our waitress was extremely helpful without being overly intrusive. The halibut was divine! The cheese cart was exemplary in its diversity. The wine list was like a bible for all tastes and price set points.

It was everything we expected and so much more! It was our first dining experience at Bas Rouge and I surprised my husband with what turned out to be a truly magical evening celebration on our anniversary. From the moment we arrived, we were swept away by the charm and elegance of the setting, including a genuinely warm reception and complete attention to detail in all aspects of the ambience, service and food and wine pairing. Every course and every encounter executed to perfection and simply unforgettable. Five star fine dining at its very best, and without a doubt quite deserving of a Michelin star rating.

Great food, ambiance, and service. This place sets the standard in all those categories. We’d put this luxury restaurant among the best restaurants we have experienced in our lives. The servers are extraordinarily professional, being attentive to our needs without being intrusive or obsequious. Their knowledge of the menu offerings enhanced our enjoyment of the meal.

Having made the rounds of DC Michelin Star restaurants Bas Rouge should advance in priority to any diner’s “to visit” list. I would rather visit Bas Rouge on a monthly basis - summer beach traffic be damned - than visit Inn At Little Washington. If Michelin in the US is worth anything they would bequeath the entirety of their stars upon this establishment - yes it is that good. I have nothing but praise for service, wine pairings and culinary execution. It is truly phenomenal in every category. Go.

First of all the food and wines are wonderful. Every bite was delicious and the wines beautifully paired. Venue is very pretty and elegant. Cocktails were delicious! Glassware and dishware were gorgeous. Our only disappointment was that the staff pushed the timing of the service to the point where we felt a bit rushed and not able to fully enjoy each course and wine pairing. The servers were all very lovely but it seemed that they were constantly hovering and adding/subtracting silverware and dishes and bringing the next wine for the upcoming course before we had finished the current one. Our conversation was frequently interrupted. It's not a large place and it should be easy enough to keep and eye on your tables to see where diners are in their enjoyment of each course, then bring the next offering after a breath to appreciate what they just had. Perhaps that is a more acceptable mode of dining for Americans in general, but when you are paying a premium price for a four course meal, you want to take the time to enjoy it. It is the evening's event. Another criticism I had was that we ordered the four course meal with the regular wine pairing and felt a bit of pressure by the sommelier to upgrade to the "premium" wine pairing. It was our anniversary so we opted to do so, but I don't think this is good protocol. Perhaps a better enticement would be to offer your customer some incentive to come back and try it the next time. It's a romantic setting and special occasion place to be sure.

Our first visit to Bas Rouge was wonderful and special, and we'll definitely be coming back! First of all, the spot is lovely, tucked in a cute side street in downtown Easton, with classic decor, comfy chairs and neat little touches such as a decanter collection. Upon arrival we were greeted by several staff members, everyone welcoming and warm. Our server asked us early on if we had any dietary restrictions, and made sure to check on things like non-veggie broth in dishes that aren't meaty, which sometimes is missed. This was a thoughtful and sensitive touch that we appreciated, but is sometimes missed at other nice places. Then, we were happy to see that the bread selection is varied and absolutely delicious, with a dangerously good rosemary bread and a little cheddar "scone" that we could not resist. They presented a refreshing shooter amuse bouche that was light and peppy, with asparagus and just a little chili oil - yum! Next was a beautiful fresh crab salad along with grilled leeks and artichokes on lemony ricotta, both of which were wonderful in terms of presentation and delicate flavor blends. Our entrees were a stellar curry cod loin and a tasty riff on bouillabaisse, fish cooked perfectly, and lots of flavor. We finished with a hazelnut crepe cake that was delicate, creamy and irresistible, and a Sacher torte with deep, rich chocolate and zingy apricot - so good. Throughout the meal, everyone was engaging and friendly, every single item was delicious, and the food is sophisticated without being stuffy. We'd highly recommend Bas Rouge, and will certainly be coming back. Thanks for having us, and we can't wait to see where they go from here!

Stellar service, well paced and attentive. Food was very good, especially the dessert options which benefit from having an inhouse pastry chef. Portions are small on the whole but the only miss quality wise was my appetizer (baked oysters). Extensive wine list. Very expensive, but worth it for a special evening or event.

I thought the food and service was very good. the table we were seated was very unpleasant. In front of the entrance and too large for 4 people. Im had requested a banquet and quiet table. Three of us had hearing aids and it was still difficult to have a conversation. I will definitely come again and have the delicious food. Take care Nora Pouillon
