An outstanding dining experience for our anniversary, highly recommended!
A true gem! Only wish it were open all week! The menu is superb and the service is outstanding. Nestled in the heart of Easton, it rivals any major city fine dining establishment.
This was our first experience at Bas Rouge. The ambience was very nice. The seating was not, however. The settee was too firm while the chair was too soft and too low for the table. The service was very good and responsive while not being intrusive. High marks for service!
The menu provides ample choice and the serving sizes are good. Food quality overall was very good; about what I was used to when I lived in New York.
My only real complaint was about the alcohol. There was no blended Scotch and the single malts were overpriced. Also, no beer was available. I ordered weiner schnitzel; German food goes well with beer.
Such an extraordinary experience for a wonderful occasion. The Chef continued to surprise with amazing flavors one after another like a prolific fireworks display. The staff was incredible and made us feel very welcomed and ensured every need was met and then some. Do not wait for a special occasion to treat yourself to Bas Rouge!
This is a great place for a special night. I took my daughter and three of her college friends. Every ingredient is thoughtfully added to each course. There’s one great dish after another coming out of the kitchen. It’s a real home run
We recently went and enjoyed ourselves overall. The service was amazing and the food was very good. I would say if you have any allergies call ahead to see what is being made. The wine list is extensive but a bit much. They have great gin selections, and really I cannot say enough about the staff. They were great!

Simply sublime. Elegantly appointed dining room, impeccable staff, extensive wine list and food that is ambitious and well executed. This is a NYC or London 3 star nestled in small town eastern shore. We deserve no less here in God's country, I just hope Bas Rouge gets the local support it warrants.

This was a special Austrian Winter Dinner Prix Fix with wine pairing. As always, the service was superb. Mr. Hoy leads a team of professionals that endeavor to be pleasant, professional and looking to meet every expectation. The menu was very good with some of the offerings just "not our cup of tea". Everything was beautifully prepared and plated. Bas Rouge remains the "Top of The Mark" here in Easton.
We had a wonderful evening celebrating our wedding anniversary at Bas Rouge. The food, service and ambiance were outstanding, the wine list was quite extensive and we both left saying we would be back soon. A real treasure to have on the Eastern Shore.
Wonderful holiday lunch...beautiful room, such professional service...my son and I had the fab burger (favorite burger in the world) and husband had oysters on brioche which was amazing...and we had first courses, all excellent especially an enormous dish of mussels in a delicious sauce. Usually do the dinner but lunch is a fun change and, with a glass of Sancerre, perfect way to start the weekend.
Bas Rouge continues to be at the pinnacle of Easton fine dining. The Maitre D'/Sommelier and servers are the absolute best!

My girlfriends and I enjoyed a memorable lunch at this "tiny jewel box" in Easton, MD. Tasty food, wonderful staff, beautiful decor made a this meal a special time for us. Can't wait to return and have already told many they must go!
This was our second visit to Bas Rouge. It was exceptional on all levels. The food was exquisite (we had tuna tartare, Dover sole and apple strudel) and the service was impeccable. It is a beautiful restaurant; intimate and small. Amazingly, in spite of its size and proximity of tables, it is possible to have a conversation without raising one’s voice. The people next to us did not become part of our conversation, nor were we in theirs.
The only negative I feel I must express is that the seating is not comfortable. The first time, I was seated in a chair, and the second time on the banquette. Neither is comfortable. I would suggest they add pillows to the banquette for back support and, perhaps, consider replacing the chairs. This may seem like a quibble, but when one is sitting for 2-1/2 hours, the comfort of the seat becomes an issue.
Bas Rouge never disappoints. It is my favorite restaurant in Talbot county. Always worth the drive. I highly recommend finishing your evening at The Stewart !

Bas Rouge is fabulous. The restaurant in intimate, the food, presentation and experience are wonderful. The staff is very good and make you feel comfortable. The wine list is world class. Very detailed website explains the menus and pricing.
Took my husband for his birthday and it was a wonderful choice! As we approached, the door swept open, we were greeted warmly and seated. Every table in the house is great. A glass of complimentary champagne was served and the wine by the glass we chose for our dinner was perfectly matched to our dishes. My husband had the tuna tartare with caviar and I had short rib ravioli as starters. My entrée was asparagus risotto with lobster and my husband had the crab cake which was beautifully presented. Both dishes were excellent. We were offered a choice of breads at the beginning of the evening and again during dinner - all of the breads were delicious. For desert, I had the apple crisp with vanilla ice cream and my husband had the maple mousse - again, both were excellent! As we were enjoying an expresso, madeleines, warm from the oven, were presented in a small paper cone. They were so good we wanted to finish them but after two each, we just couldn't eat another bite. After the check was presented, a small bag was delivered to the table with two portions of complimentary cake for the birthday boy. Even without the extra treat of complimentary champagne and cake, the three course prix fixe dinner was fabulous and the extras put us over the moon!
As was indicated by my star ratings, this is a superb restaurant. It is beautiful, the food is extraordinary, and the service is gracious and attentive. My only criticism is about the music which I would prefer to be generationally neutral rather than music my late parents would have found pleasing.
Top food, wine, service and ambiance. Expensive, but unequaled without hours of driving.

I really want to love this restaurant. The room is serene and beautiful. The food is high quality, delicious and well presented. The servers are all attractive and attentive. So what’s not to like? There is an air of pretension that just doesn’t fit downtown Easton. Feel like I should apologize for not ordering $100 bottle of wine (cheap end of the list). I’ll go back and enjoy it, but not often.

This is the hidden jewel on the Eastern Shore. My wife and I would looking for something new to try in Easton and found this online. The menu looked very interesting so we decided to give it a try on her birthday. We were stunned by the quality and presentation of each of the dishes. Our daughter lives in NYC and we dine there often and this was every bit as good as any meal we have had there. Definitely worth the expense.
Fabulous dinner (again). This time we opted for the 3 course. I had the lobster cavatelli, rockfish and cheese course. My husband had the truffle pasta for his main. Any seafood dish here is exceptional every time, by the way. Pasta courses are always excellent in terms of inventive flavors. Portion size for pastas can be uneven - sometimes a lot sometimes a moderate amount. Always enough food I just never quite know what the pasta portion will be. Soups are always exceptional. Cheese course is a nice addition to the dessert options. Wine list is very well thought out. We've never had anything but great wine here. The staff is so well trained and delightful. (Also when the bread comes around, get one of those cheddar biscuits.) We've taken a few trips this summer and included some high end restaurants along the way and each time, we are sitting there saying to each other, well it's good but it's not Bas Rouge.
