barvale, located at 661 Divisadero Street in San Francisco’s NoPa neighborhood, is more than just a place to fuel up – it represents a cultural way of life; a daily ritual. Gathering for tapas fosters a spirit of togetherness and community. It is Spain at its very core. Celebratory, delicious and inclusive. Our goal is to capture the essence of a tapas bar and share it with San Francisco. Our bar serves unpretentious cocktails, Spanish wine, sherry, and cider. Food is served tapas style, meant to encourage sharing and togetherness. barvale is the essence of Spanish culture; inexpensive and filled with people enjoying bites and drinks late into the night.

Excellent food, great & friendly service, nice ambiance!
Poor service, kept switching servers.
Reservation was for a birthday, but no birthday treat.
Went with a couple of friends and everything from the drinks to the food was amazing!!
Outstanding food. Service was slow, inconsistent and our waitress was very rude. The place had more customers than what the staff could handle and it was reflected on the poor service we received.
Maybe next time.
Food was ok.
Service was quite meh.
Table was so uncomfortable.
Fantastic food, service, atmosphere, wine list, cocktails...you name it. Well worth a visit!
The food was amazing and our server was really nice and accommodating. My one complaint is how loud it is, the tables are rather wide so sitting across from my boyfriend we could barely hold a conversation without yelling at each other. We also were pretty crammed in with the people next to us so it didn't feel like we could hold any sort of private conversation. I'd like to come back at a time when it's not so packed, or maybe try sitting at the bar so we don't have to yell over everyone.
Excellent food , friendly service, and nice ambiance though a bit loud for conversation. Would go again.
Excellent tapas, cocktails and wine! I sat and waited at the table for a very long time before I was even served water or asked for a drink
Deelish food. In the middle of dinner there was some sort of loud cowbell ceremony where they poured tequila though a big pot into a woman’s mouth. Felt very out of place and super loud
Wish happy hour prices applied to dining at table.
Great waiter, nice unusual choices line sunchokes
Two waitstaff for entire large cumbersome restaurant?!
Further, the guy ‘waiting ‘ on us would take orders from adjacent tables then not even look to see if indeed we needed anything
Drinks ? Food orders late
Food was fabulous but lackadaisical if not incompetent service was big drawback
Maybe some employees didn’t show up ? There were as many hostesses as servers
We would have had at least two more drinks had anyone asked
The food was excellent but the service was not very good even though it was not too busy. Our waiter was nice but was overly attentive while still taking a long time to get us 2 glasses of iced tea and later a glass of ice because the iced tea was warm with no ice in it.
Great food! Fun atmosphere.
A great neighborhood spot for tapas, which taste as if straight from Spain! Good people-watching too.
Service was great! And the food was bomb!! As always :)
It’s ok. Loud when busy. Overfilled with tables. Service started ok but our waitress left for 20 minutes after a few courses and never gave us the chance to order more tapas. We settled the bill and finished dinner across the street at nopa, which was better.
French Toast - excellent, Poached eggs on Brioche, excellent. My crispy bacon - burnt. The Mimosa was a dud. Service - Excellent!
Barvale is quickly becoming my go-to restaurant for a night out. The food and drinks are incredible- there’s something for everyone (vegetarian and gluten free options too). The noise level is a bit much for a date night, but it’s a fun spot to meet up with a group.
Had a great time celebrating my partner’s birthday. Appreciate the attentive service. Will return!
Steak and eggs were good. Avocado toast was good. Service was good. Paella was pretty bad.
So happy to find this gem
Barvale is a great neighborhood restaurant. The tapas are excellent, the wine list was good. It’s very popular and has a youngish, trendy vibe. Be prepared to shout at your date in order to be heard, as the noise level is very high.
Please make sure the servers ask if you want dessert before putting down the bill. I was there for a birthday and was hoping to have dessert but the bill came before we were offered any dessert.
I had my birthday dinner here and was happy we did, the food was great, the waiter was lovely and the over all experience was very enjoyable.
Coming from Europe, these tapas were much better and so tasty.
Great service and welcome too.
Great food and environment. I wish the paella was less juicy, with a crust, but it was still very good.
Love this place. Tapas were better than one I had in Spain. I am glad to find this place.
Service was fast. Tapas were great. We had the tempura soft shell crab, octopus, gambas, squid ink rice, lamnb sausages, kale salad. It just gets very noisy so if you prefer a quieter place, go earlier or later.
Fun, party vibe to the place. Food is quite good. Service is good but I wouldn't say fantastic.
Barvale is our favorite place for family get-togethers and to bring out of town guests! Always wonderful food and service, and not too loud if you go early.
Celebrating the end of a wedding weekend on a Monday night, the ambiance was so warm and welcoming, and the food and service fabulous!
Loved the food and our server Tim was FANTASTIC
My husband and I had a lovely dinner at Barvale! Our server was friendly and the delicious food came out quickly - the croquettes were amazing, and we also loved the charcuterie board. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a low-key, hip place to dine.
We took my mother for her 60’th birthday and it was spectacular!!! They treated us so well, food was excellent and it made for an unforgettable dinner!!
good Tapas selection. Authentic Spanish food . 50% off bottles of wine on Monday
It’s a must! Great food and great service 👌🏻❤️ You can have multiple plates and share even the cocktails are crazy good
All good. Except the noise. Hopefully this horrible fad of noisy restaurants will die a quick death. Almost unbearable.
Had a reservation at 8 and didn't get seated till 8:45pm. While the staff apologized repeatedly and offer to sit us at a community table it was still annoying since the whole reason for having a reservation was to sit in the dining room without having to wait. Having said our waitress was very nice and attentive and the food was very good.
