barvale, located at 661 Divisadero Street in San Francisco’s NoPa neighborhood, is more than just a place to fuel up – it represents a cultural way of life; a daily ritual. Gathering for tapas fosters a spirit of togetherness and community. It is Spain at its very core. Celebratory, delicious and inclusive. Our goal is to capture the essence of a tapas bar and share it with San Francisco. Our bar serves unpretentious cocktails, Spanish wine, sherry, and cider. Food is served tapas style, meant to encourage sharing and togetherness. barvale is the essence of Spanish culture; inexpensive and filled with people enjoying bites and drinks late into the night.

Outstanding service, great food and wonderful, informed staff
Great experience. Me and my girlfriend had a great time.
Tasty, small portions but not unreasonable for tapas. Monday half-off wine bottles is nice. Was a bit too loud to hear each other comfortably and tables are too squashed together.
The food was amazing. Our waitress, Maria, was an absolute joy. We really loved that there was no rush at all. The menu was really interesting. I will be back
Our server was a total rockstar!! We were a group of 8 and all 8 walked out so happy with the experience
The food was good, prices are correct, but the service too long and the restaurant too noisy.
A great spot for a date, birthday, or night out with friends.
Great service, great atmosphere, great food! What's not to love! The price point is a bit high but I think accurate to value and to the area. Will definitely return and reccomend!
We can always count on Barvale to have the tastiest bites to satisfy and impress our guests. It has become our favorite neighborhood spot to take visitors. The Gin drinks are OOTW, the variety on the menu has something for everyone, the bartenders and servers and hosts are so friendly and accommodating, and the place is just plain fun. Its a great spot for groups, to share a table and meet your neighbors or grab a spot at the bar for a quick bite.
Outstanding food and drink.
Service was slow in the beginning but once we told them we had a strict time limit - was wonderful.
Super yummy. Awesome service. Great gin n tonics. Octopus and steak to die for
Delicious brunch food somewhat offset by non-existent drinks service. 15 minutes after ordering our drinks we were told that particular choice was unavailable. So we switched to Mimosas - they still hadn't arrived by half way through our main dishes so we cancelled them.
Hope they can iron out these issues as otherwise it would have been wonderful - the atmosphere was great (buzzy but not too loud or busy), food was delicious and the service was friendly.
My twenties have been defined by Tiki Bars and Tapas, and Barvale has delivered some of the best tapas I have enjoyed this decade! Their gin cocktail menu had a ton of good options, and every plate we ordered was perfectly seasoned and was inhaled in seconds! Highly recommend!
The service was incredibly slow, the food was only ok, the prices were too high for the overall experience. Some dishes were delicious, but most were lacking in both flavor and presentation. You have so many amazing places to choose from in a city like SF, so don’t waste your time here.
All of the food was absolutely incredible. The only thing that wasn't up to par were the churros. There were 5-6 on the plate and maybe two of them actually had cinnamon sugar on them. Still would go here in a heartbeat. Delicious!
It was my birthday and so fun!!
The food is not good and the service was bad, we reserved a table for 6 at 6 pm and they had booked someone at 8 for that table so they were rushing us starting 7.50 pm which I think is terrible.
I think this place is over-rated, something is wrong with our community in SF these days. We used to be the food Mecca of the world with nice creative/authentic restaurants. Now we are replacing that with some over rated restaurants with no substance
There was a very loud table with a large group behind me, luckily they left as I was starting my meal, but I still think it would have been appropriate for the staff to approach the table and ask them to keep it a bit down, this was right in the middle of brunch rush!
As for the food, my friend and I shared the tapas, they weren't extraordinary, the patatas bravas could have used a more spicy sauce (bravas.. hello!), the deviled eggs were average and the jamon croquettes lacked some of the saltiness that would have convinced me there was any jamon in there. I enjoyed the french toast but the churros were definitely underwhelming.
All in all, the food was ok.
Excellent food, though a bit pricey for the tiny tapas portions. Service was a bit slow but I guess that's authentic to Spain ;) Ambiance was nice and open with big windows, but nothing that special. Squid ink rice was my favorite and the most unique. The steak was also good, and the sun chokes were surprisingly yummy. Great cocktails, and good spot for a birthday celebration.
The 4 stars for the food has more to do with the portion size than actually quality. It’s great food obviously and they’ve worked hard at it. The service, decor everything is visually and personally impeccable But for the price the plate sizes are more of a boutique offering of tapas than an actual meal.
Our server was very friendly, attentive, and genuine. We appreciate her excellent service. Thank you!
Barvale is always a solid tapas choice in SF. Everyone can find a drink, there are enough tapas to accommodate a variety of dietary restrictions (fewer vegan options, but they exist!), and it’s typically a good time. Service is hit or miss, but the food usually makes up for that.
Excellent service. Food was very creative and fun and the drinks were great. Our server was very helpful, friendly and fun.
Loved it! Went for brunch, great food and service, will definitely go here again. Definitely want to try dinner/happy hour here!
Good to very good execution on a respectable Tapas menu. Service was fantastic from a personable and knowledgeable sever. Be careful where you sit though: the father away from the window you get the noisier it can be, and what was a great date night experience for me might not be for you depending on the crowd and placement.
Barvale was very accommodating when we showed up with three people!
The paella was really good! Loved the pulpo tapa. Definitely coming back.
It was a great dinner. My only complaint is that the acoustics are not good- it was difficult to hear my date.
Authentic, tasty and satisfying food at reasonable prices in a boisterous, fun atmosphere.
Excellent food, great & friendly service, nice ambiance!
Poor service, kept switching servers.
Reservation was for a birthday, but no birthday treat.
Went with a couple of friends and everything from the drinks to the food was amazing!!
Outstanding food. Service was slow, inconsistent and our waitress was very rude. The place had more customers than what the staff could handle and it was reflected on the poor service we received.
Maybe next time.
Food was ok.
Service was quite meh.
Table was so uncomfortable.
Fantastic food, service, atmosphere, wine list, cocktails...you name it. Well worth a visit!
The food was amazing and our server was really nice and accommodating. My one complaint is how loud it is, the tables are rather wide so sitting across from my boyfriend we could barely hold a conversation without yelling at each other. We also were pretty crammed in with the people next to us so it didn't feel like we could hold any sort of private conversation. I'd like to come back at a time when it's not so packed, or maybe try sitting at the bar so we don't have to yell over everyone.
Excellent food , friendly service, and nice ambiance though a bit loud for conversation. Would go again.
Excellent tapas, cocktails and wine! I sat and waited at the table for a very long time before I was even served water or asked for a drink
Deelish food. In the middle of dinner there was some sort of loud cowbell ceremony where they poured tequila though a big pot into a woman’s mouth. Felt very out of place and super loud
Wish happy hour prices applied to dining at table.
