Barton G. The Restaurant - Los Angeles Ratings and Reviews
Celebrated My Birthday here on a visit to LA. What a time it was! From the time I entered the door to the time I left, my service and experience was amazing! The staff is very attentive and the food is delicious! I enjoyed everything! I am looking forward to coming back on my next visit to LA!
This is a dining experience. The food presentation is a show. Study the menu beforehand to know how your food is prepared and presented. Popcorn shrimp (served in popcorn machine on bed of popcorn) was excellent--more with the two accompanying dips. My 13 year old son said best shrimp of his life. Brussel sprouts with bacon--delicious. Swordfish (served with a sword) was amazing, with great sauce--tied for favorite selection. Studio 54 Spaghetti and Meatball (served in a mini disco with mirror ball) tied for favorite--especially with teen children--but kudos on sauce and delicious meatball. Salmon (served with fish hanging from hook) was delicious but ordinary. Cheddar Mac and cheese (served on mousetrap) was good but not worth the $$$. (Neighbors had: lobster mac n cheese: said heavy on truffle oil, light on lobster (restaurant pushes this dish); lobster pop tarts--said they could not taste any lobster and were disappointed (again, big push at restaurant); sea bass in curry with chicken wings (served with elephant head)--loved the sauce and chicken but said the sea bass was dry and overcooked.) We had the dollah, dollah, dollah for dessert--fantastic s'mores and ice cream. All the desserts looked great. No alcohol for us--but neighbors on both sides said the specialty martinis were too sweet and $$$--but fun presentation and made/chilled with nitro. Our bill was about $60 per person. I'd go again for a special event or for the "show" with an out of town guest or client. For the price, I'd expect more "wow" on the taste meter for some of the dishes, but overall the food was fresh and flavorful--and the presentation is remarkable. And you can tell from the reviews, most are going for the presentation. Service was top rate--friendly with lots of inside information on the dish and its plating.
Went to this restaurant for my birthday celebration dinner we made a reservation but only part of our table was there and we had to have all of the party there before they would seat us, once everyone showed up we were seated, the seats & tables are a little close together so you are really close to the aisles and other tables so it is really busy with all of the wait staff moving and the customers coming and \going but despite all of that the wait staff was so courteous and helpful and very polite with bringing the food and checking on us and the PRESENTATIONS of the food and drinks were AMAZING- I would recommend the Diamonds are Forever drink DELICIOUS and very pretty presentation. The prices are slightly higher than expected but it is well worth it as the food is really good- overall our experience there was really enjoyable, i would definitely recommend this place to anyone and i will be coming back!! It was a great birthday dinner!!!
The place was very packed and very overboooked, we were seated within about one-two feet of the table next to us (no exaggeration) and every table was like that. some tables were smack dab in the middle of 4 tables with very little walking room. we were so close to the other tables we might as well have been at the same table. the service was ok because there was too many people. felt like a busy high school cafeteria. also waited about 15 minutes for our table to be ready when we had a reservation. food was good, nice portioned, and it was cool to look at. drinks were good and strong but sweet. if there were 50% less people in the restaurant i would've enjoyed it much more.
I felt like I was being rushed to eat so that waiters/attendants could take the food display from the table. It was unprofessional in my opinion. Overall the food was delicious, and the presentation was exciting but I don't like being watched. It was my best friends birthday and we all noticed it.
I honestly was not very happy with the food plus it was not even hot when we got the food. The props are awesome that the food is served on but it's really distracting and hard to eat at the tables because there's not a lot of room. I also was seated right next to the kitchen which my back was to the rest of the room so I kept getting knocked around a couple times and that didn't make my dining experience and all that great. I will give the servers that helped us props they did a great job but overall I was not was not what I expected.
What a fantastic dinner! We went for our work holiday dinner and we had a blast. From the minute you walk in, it’s amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant for special occasions. It is a little loud, but it because everyone is talking about each other entree presentations! Super enjoyable and delicious food too!
Presentation was over the top for me. Table size was an issue getting all we ordered on table at times. It was an interesting Terri's job to get it all on table. Should clear old dishes from table prior to delivering more items. I thought price was not worth the quality and presentation. I would not go for a business meeting or casual dinning. With the cost of food and lack of parking valet should be complimentary. Overall good experience.
This place was great! I brought my boyfriend here for our anniversary and it was the best! The dishes were amazing. I got the swordfish it came in a cool plate with a huge sword going across the plate and the fish was the best I've ever had! I will definitely be coming back.
Food was amazing. One thing that was more than obvious is the level of respect they have towards their clients based on looks. They sit the stylish 20 year olds in one room and the older folks with children and those who appear less wealthy in a separate room (this room is dark, you can barely see the menu, and it’s very crowded) It was more than obvious, which is a shame as everyone pays the same amount and should receive the amount of quality and respect.
Came here for my boyfriend’s birthday. We had so much fun! The staff is very attentive—always clearing dishes off the table, wiping it down, refilling water glasses, etc. The restaurant is definitely too pricey for me to be a regular go-to spot, but will definitely be back again for a future special occasion!
The food was poor and the service was not the best. I would not recommend it to my worst enemy. I ordered shrimp rolls and one of the rooms got stuck in ice, the waiter had to use boiling water to get it unstuck. What a bummer. They took my sister’s drink when she only drank 1/2 of it. They tried to replace it with a half of a drink. Finally after arguing with the manager , she reluctantly replaced the drink. But she did not seem happy. When desert cam they did nothing for my niece’s Birthday but put a sparkler in the desert. I would never go back. The main dish was lobster. The lobster was about 1/4 lb. of lobster. It was not worth $55. It was worth more like $15 and taste like cardboard. The worst lobster dish ever. I am a gourmet. Chief and I could cook something better blindfolded. I will never be back ever.
Barton G is one of my favorite places to dine!!! The food is delicious, whimsical, and out of this world! While the drinks and food are wonderful, the plating of the food is the True Star!!! No matter how many times I go, no visit is alike. Oh, and did I mention the staff’s customer service skills are EXCELLENT!! Can’t wait to return!!!
It was thanksgiving and we made our reservation a month in advance and then ran out of thanksgiving food. They didn't call and give us a heads up AND I even called them an hour prior to and they didn't mention it. Once we got there, the restaurant was over booked, as they were taking walking ins over reservations and then ran out of food.
Made reservations for Thanksgiving but they ran out of the Thanksgiving meal by the time we were seated so we had to order offer the regular menu. The price for the Thanksgiving meal was $65 for 3 courses. Our bill ended up being about $300 for 3 courses for 2 of us. The seating is very tight and the table next to us brought in a dog. The food was as expected - good but not blown away. I ordered the studio 54 dish and the disco ball plating didn't even light up. The lobster pop tarts were pretty good. Sides were just ok. Bread pudding was delicious. On the fence about whether or not I'd return.
We went there to have a special Thanksgiving dinner and were terribly disappointed. I made the reservation 2 weeks ahead of time and the only seating I could get was 7:15pm. Still, that didn't seem too late. WRONG. We sat down and were told promptly that they had run out of Thanksgiving dinner. Run out. But we could order from their everyday menu. Thanks a lot. When the manager came to see how everything was, we told her how disappointed we were. She apologized and said the most she could do was apologize. The most she could do. Really? How about a discount on the meal? Free dessert? A special discount for the next time? She must have meant the LEAST she could do was apologize and that was all she was prepared to do on Thanksgiving.
Nothing like making a reservation for a fun experience for thanksgiving dessert and driving all the way from San Diego to be told after waiting 45 minutes to be seated (we arrived early) that we could not dine for dessert only! The host did not say or ask anything about needing to order a full dinner first. So it's pretty clear that it was not our intention to drive all this way to not even have the experience. So we get seated, have our drink order taken and then tell the server we wanted to just order a few desserts for the server to hurry off and say she was going to get our drink and over comes the manager to tell us we can't stay at our table unless we eat dinner first. So up we went! Wow they waived the valet fee! Even when I said it to the manager in front of the host that he did not ask or check if we were eating a full menu he looked dumb founded and was a blank stare. Should have been a better way to treat a guest when it was now clearly their mistake making us wait for nothing!!!!
