Great place to meet friends. Noisy, but could still hold a conversation. Food was fantastic and service was great for our table of 10. Great, happy, atmosphere.
This is our third time here. The service is always great and the food is fantastic. The tempura buffalo cauliflower is a don’t miss. Full disclosure, we do get the sauce and blue cheese on the side. They must have a magical deep fryer because all of the fried dishes, from French fries, sweet potato fries and fish and chips are perfectly fried. Good clean oil at the absolute perfect temperature shows. Outstanding cheeseburger, medium order came a bit more medium rare but we actually like that better. They also offer an Impossible burger that is cooked perfectly. If you’ve ever had one and not been impressed, it’s because it was over cooked. We haven’t had a bad meal. Great bar area, good selection of house specialty cocktails and very good variety of draft beers and ciders. We can’t stop talking about this awesome find, and the prices are reasonable. Not gouging like some other places in the general area.
Traveling for work training and we picked this place to meet up for a quick bite and to get to know each other better
Bartlett Hall offers a discount if you have tickets to an ACT play, & it's walking distance, which is why we chose it. When we got there I was dismayed by the CROWDS at the BAR & the loud music but the hostess seated us right away (20 minutes before our reservation) & in the back, where the 'regular tables' are, it wasn't so noisy. In fact, it was nice! Our server was great, when asked she offered suggestions on beers & entrees. Food came up pretty quick. We got our theater discount & since we had time we ordered dessert, which was this excellent caramel cake that was rich but not sickly-sweet. It was a good spot, we will definitely return when we're going to ACT next!
Took a friend of out of town, but my wife and I had never been there. We all were really pleased! Will go again, without question.
There was a big game on, so it was difficult talking to my friend. There might be a completely different vibe on a non-sports day.
It was very loud and hard to hear people across the table, but the food was pretty delicious. The only unliked meal was the burger- too greasy.
Our burger came out wrong and when sent back we got attitude. Asked the waitress for mustard and got attitude and we were never checked on after our party of 6 got our food or asked how everything was. No basic service courtesies.
Pretty loud. But great food. And fantastic service!!
A little touristy for our tastes, but the beer was good and the food was, too.
Grabbed a quick bite before a show at the Curran. It was easy to get to and the service was quick, so no worries about being late. Our waitress was very responsive but had little to no personality. She did not say more than 10 words to us it seemed. The food was very good - turkey club, mahi mahi tacos and fish and chips were very tasty. My husband was also very pleased by the variety of beers too.
Chipotle Maple Buffalo Wings were delicious!
Close to theatres, but nothing special
Appetizer did not arrive until 2 minutes before dinner arrived. Ginger ale didn’t taste like ginger ale. No sour cream available at 5pm in the evening on a Friday. Server didn’t follow up to ask about dessert.
Fries were cold.
We had a nice time here. My only complaint is that even though our reservation was for 5:15, we weren't seated until after 5:30. We ended up feeling rushed, because several members of our party had a play to get to.
Bussers need to not take things off table that are needed while still eating
Great food - happened to be there during happy hour!
I found Bartlett because I wanted to spend Christmas Day in the city (from the East Bay) and it was open with reservation times available on Open Table. I loved the menu, my drink and the food, I’m already thinking about when I’ll be back. Between me and my friend we got a salad, Mac and cheese and a burger then finished off the meal with bread pudding for dessert. I took half of my burger home and it was still delicious the next day!
Unsure of what to expect in downtown SFO on O’Farrell but pleasantly surprised
Great food and great service
Clearly busy due to the quality of the establishment and its employees
I would eat there again
We really enjoyed the meal! The bartender introduced me to an Indian Whiskey I have never tasted and it was delicious!
I came here for my 22nd last Saturday. it was moderately crowded and since we had a party of 7, we were seated as soon as we got there even though we arrived half an hour early. Bartender was friendly and our server was speedy. The food comes FAST! I highly recommend the mahi mahi tacos and the IPAs are outstanding! I’m definitely coming back here, would come for a nice dinner or a casual lunch, I wish I lived in the city in which case I would come here all the time :) hats off to the chef!
Beer cheese had no taste. Tasted like a heavy roux that had orange food coloring. Pretzel tasted like it was previously frozen and just warmed up. Not worth the money charged. The burger was just a burger. Had a confirmed open table reservation but the host couldn’t find it. She did manage to seat us.
The food and service were fine. However, they did not have our reservation despite having a confirmation of a reservation made through open table.
Always a good choice! Quickly becoming our go to spot before the theater.
Very live and vibrant environment! Food was a reasonable price. Especially for it being a restaurant in San Francisco. Delicious food. The burger I had was absolutely amazing. Friendly waitress! Overall a great experience!
Came for an early dinner after a show at the Curran. We ordered a lot and really enjoyed every food and drink sampled. Pretzel with beer cheese and fish tacos were real highlights. Service could have been better - water bottle was empty more than it was full - and it was a bit loud. We were surprised to get 20% off our bill with Curran tickets! Would definitely return.
Loved everything about this place except the fact that the description of the Impossible Burger didn't note that the bun and aioli are not vegan. I understand that non-vegans eat the plant-based burgers for other reasons, but it's not that hard to source a vegan bun or to make vegan aioli with Just Mayo or another vegan substitute. It was disappointing to find out that all I could get was a lettuce wrap if I wanted the vegan burger.
The service was slow however the restaurant was rather busy. The porter beer is delicious but the impossible burger was a huge disappointment. Typically they are thick and served juicy, this burger was thin and very dry (well, well done). I sent the burger back and watched as the rest of the table ate. I had to call the server over to remove the plate as she never stopped to ask how our meal was. Again, the beer was delicious but stick to appetizers and french fries...in my opinion.
Perfect find for what we needed - a scheduled group lunch near union square. We enjoyed our lunch/brunch, had plenty of room to manage multiple kids and we had quick/friendly service. The SF foodie might keep looking, but the buffalo cauliflower made our vegan of the group happy and everyone loved the avocado Benedict.
We wanted to get drinks and food before seeing a show at the Curran Theatre around the corner. Although I made a reservation and arrived early, I didn't feel like the staff wanted to serve us at all. We were seated and waited about 10 min before someone came to the table; it turns out this person was just bringing water glasses and didn't ask about ordering food or drinks. We waited another 15 min then asked the hosts to help as we hadn't been approached for ordering yet. She said she would find our waiter but on one ever came by. It honestly make me feel super awkward to be sitting in a restaurant full of staff and to have them all ignore us. After sitting there for 30 mins total with no drink order in and no sign of a waiter, we decided that Bartlett Hall did not want our business and left to find somewhere that did. We ended up around the corner at a Tapas restaurant even closer to the theatre.
Good place to meet friends. Lots of menu options. Very good service.
Our waitress did not check on us often. Asked if I wanted another beer and never received it. Brought check without asking if we wanted anything else, coffee or dessert. Took a long time after she gave us check to swing by again as I needed to let her know it was incorrect. Food was good however, very disappointed in the service.
Perfect location after shopping, really good food (two very happy guests!) and a decent cider for me. Not too loud so you can have a conversation, but not quiet either. Can't complain about anything really.
Super fun, tasty place to eat. Bougie bar fare. Pricey drinks. Good times.
My wife and I were kicking off our wedding anniversary weekend!
Great place to watch your favorite team. Group in the bar was very energetic. Food was good and the service was excellent.
We had a great time at Bartlett Hall! For a Sports Bar the food was amazing. The Mac & Cheese and the buffalo wings are outstanding. Great bar selection!
Great way to spend time before going to the Curran.
Enjoyed lunch. Pizza was very good, service fine, friendly staff. Nice atmosphere.
