This is a really nice space and was unsure why it was so empty on a Saturday evening! We had zero wait at all and it was very quiet inside. The ambience is lovely and people are definitely missing out on a hidden gem! We had the smash burger and fish and chips and both were good and the portions were quite large. Drinks from the bar were good as well. Perfect for singles, couples, families! We will most likely return next time we're out shopping in Union Square.

Tipping being compulsory and set at 18% even when you are nudged toward using an ordering app (versus server) is disappointing. When using the app, encouraged by the restaurant, the role of staff is simply to drop food off. Tipping at that level should be a sign of good service…not compensation for the employer not paying their staff enough or technology adoption by the employer.

Last minute place to eat dinner. Very unexpected surprise for myself and my wife. The food was great. The service was excellent. The decor was just what we like. Not to load, maybe because it was early and the dinner rush was not at full go. Enjoyed our time there. Would definitely repeat and for sure recommend to anyone.

Worst service ever! The waiter NEVER came over to our table, walking by and not even acknowledging us. After inquiring, the hostess said we were supposed to order through a QR code, which was never explained, and finally another waiter came over to answer questions and take the order. Food was ready quickly and tasted fine, but did not make up for the total lack of service. Very disappointed!

Waiter walks up, points to QR reader. Needed some sauce, couldn’t find any staff around. A few minutes later I just went outside to see if maybe they were around - yup all of them were on a smoke break together. If you need a bar, this place is fine. Don’t recommend it for food or service - then they ask for a tip… for what???

I love love love this place. The best French fries in San Francisco. Delicious food. The cauliflower appetizer is astonishing. All of the burgers are incredible. BRAVO!

I was ask a friend for a recommendation for some out of town guests. We easily made the reservation on Open Table and our table was available as requested. We ordered via the app and the food came out very quickly and was very fresh and tasty. While we did use the app, several people did check on us to make sure all was well. A great experience at a very cool place. We will be back.

The hostess, a tall woman, did not say hello and just walked up to us and said, “You have reservation, yes or no? Sat me at the worst table in the restaurant - a communal table behind her host desk. I saw several other tables open, including one right next to me that was being vacated. I politely asked for that table, and she said “it was reserved.” No problem, however - There were 10 empty tables in the restaurant; only 5 had “reserved” badges on them. I went onto OpenTable and saw reservations available for tables and high tops available presently, and also within 10 minutes (at 715). The restaurant was not at capacity, with a ton of open tables. I booked a table - NOT a high top - and patiently waited I was sat at a high top; the empty tables were still available throughout the floor. At this point, it felt as tho the hostess was being negative and not interested in basic service of seating someone at any available table, let alone the type that was reserved. Having proudly managed in hospitality, I would humbly recommend to management to have a different personality representing the restaurant and maintaining the table/turning strategy. —— Really nice that they have little cards with the WiFi connection profile at every table. Unfortunately, no one could connect to the WiFi with the credentials provided. Very difficult and disappointing given that most in the place are here for a work conference. Our server told us that “there is no WiFi today…” —— We politely asked a very nice server if we could watch the NCAA basketball game on CBS. The server said we had to ask all the tables around us if it was okay. I asked all and got approval. He then told us that they can’t change the channel of the TV’s for fear that they won’t work. Note: The TV’s were all on and playing other games… I will not come back, and will recommend to other conference attendees to avoid this location going forward.

Booked this reservation for my husband who was in town for business. He said he had the worst fish and chips ever. Could not eat it. When the server came to check with him after delivering the food and he told them it was inedible, they shrugged and left. No apology. No offer to remake the dish or something else. Would not recommend this place.

At no point did a server come to us. Ever. Had to go to the host to request a menu, had to flag someone down for silverware, and every other request that didn’t involve placing our own order. This wouldn’t be a problem if we didn’t witness every other table with menus, silverware, service, etc.

Food was not very good. Pretzel and cheese was disappointing. Chili was bland. Hummus was bland. Service was OK but weird that you can order with the server OR through your phone which caused confusion and chaos. Beware that any party of 6 or more they will add automatic 18% service charge.

Never have dined at Bartlett Hall in all of the years we have visited SF. We had tickets to see Frozen at the Orpheum and it seemed like a good time to try Bartlett Hall. We ordered two turkey club sandwiches, ate half and took the other halves to go. We enjoyed our dinner and was looking forward to having the remainder the next day for lunch. Secutity at The Orpheum prohibited us from bringing in food, regardless if our intentions where to eat our leftovers the next day. Such a shame, went right into the garbage! Next time I would like to try the tempura cauliflower and my husband would like to try the nachos.

Not a fan of the order online. We got our cocktails after our food had been served. We ordered appetizers to start with but all the food came at the same time instead of enjoying our cocktail, then starting our appetizers and then our main course. The atmosphere was fun, the cocktails were very good. The food was good for that kind of environment.

Very annoying that their site let me make a reservation but, when we arrived, no one was at the front of house and the sign said to seat yourself. There were no available tables and people waiting ahead of us. So we went elsewhere. Unfortunately, we had planned our day around this reservation and would have scheduled things differently if we knew it wouldn't be honored.

Decent food, and good cocktails. Didn't really like the fact that all the ordering was on the phone...there was not really any personal service. I was never asked to even have the water bottle refilled, which is not acceptable to me when dining.

No Reservation is required. There is a sign saying “Please seat yourselves.” The service was quick given it was a Friday night and we were ordering pizza and cocktails before a show nearby. Highly recommend going for a couple of drinks before walking over to a concert at August Hall.

We came here for brunch on a Sunday. It was very quiet and we were a little put off by all the TV screens showing football, but in the end it was fine and not at all loud or rowdy. They have a fireplace close to the front door which I didn't spot until we were leaving, otherwise I would have sat there. So cozy! Food was good and they have good selection of drinks, including some interesting draft beers. Friendly service, although they need to sort out the table numbers for the online ordering (orders are placed via the Toast app after scanning the QR code on the table - very common these days and we prefer it). Overall, I'll definitely be back.

No vaccine checking no mask requirement. Food and wait staff were fine but felt like it was the place you could go without being vaccinated.

Service was good, food seems to be not quite as good as it was. Not a fan of the phone ordering thing, but I understand the need. But you’d think that the order would be correct, it was not, though it was quickly rectified

Kind of interesting experience - you order and pay all through your phone and just have servers bring your food! It was fine just not expected. Also no more happy hour ;(

It's a good place for casual dining, food was good and it was value-priced. The only downside was we were seated adjacent to a very loud table. There were many other tables available, so we should have asked to be moved, so that's on us, not the restaurant. I'd go back again.

This place is great. The cauliflower and the craft were super! And the burger and fries...perfect. They didn't have fried pickles back on the menu and I can't wait to eat them again.
