Food was ok. Seemed a bit overpriced for the overall quality. We had the wings and the bratwurst sandwich. Both were decent, but nothing special. The beer on the other hand was delicious. I had the chocolate porter, and my wife had the saison. Both were very flavorful and enjoyable.
Delicious and an excellent value!
The service was fairly bad and the so was the food. The noise level was also ridiculous, making it almost impossible to hold a conversation. But the booze was good.
Good food, excellent service.
Arrived 5 minutes early to be told they can not seat me until my reservation. Really? Just dumb is all that was. I have never had that happen before. Way to incentivize your patrons to show up late. Not going back.
A good place for lunch. Food and service were both good.
The best "non-meat" burger I've ever had! Usually veggie burgers fall apart. The "Impossible Burger" stays together and if I didn't know better I would have thought I was eating a regular burger. Also wonderful sweet potato fries. Our server Patrick Coleman was stellar!!!
Came here on a Tuesday at noon for a team lunch, where they were able to seat our group of 8. We ordered several appetizers to share (buffalo cauliflower, so good!) and entrees for ourselves; everything was delicious and came on time. Their beer and cocktail selection was also very good. Would recommend!
Good downtown, especially before a show at one of the nearby theaters. Great food, good drink selection. Takes reservations, which a big plus when trying to make a show. Highly recommend.
Fine. It was food. We needed to eat. Expectations are low this close to union square.
We really enjoyed the atmosphere of Bartlett Hall! We were seat at the window to the left of the fireplace. The back part of the restaurant appeared to mostly be high tops and community seating. Even for having the football game on, we were still able to have conversation and hear background music.
As far as food goes, the portions were huge! Our server was kind enough to split our salad and entree. We ordered the cauliflower buffalo wings, fries, kale salad, and salmon. All were delicious.
Cocktails seemed a little sweet but very tasty.
Would definitely go back!
Went there on a weekend for a late breakfast meal and had no complaints. The food and service were good and timely. Would go back again.
I've lived in the neighborhood for a few years, but always thought this was a tourist joint. Finally went to check it out with some friends, and we really enjoyed ourselves! Some locals, some tourists. Had exceptional and friendly service, and our table was ready right at our reservation time!
We were offered a booth which was nice of them. We ordered a couple of their entrees, the blackened salmon and the po-boy, as well as a couple of beers and a cocktail. Food was really good, the salmon exceeded my expectations. Service was good, despite it being a busy Friday night. There were some loud patrons nearby spoiling the atmosphere but I cannot fault either the food or the staff. The best thing is the beer and cocktail list, something for everyone. I would also recommend their fish & chips.
Server was awesome, kept our drinks full and was super friendly—as was the host! Great ambience
My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner Friday night. The service and food were great and we enjoyed the music selection. What we really appreciated was the music volume, low. We were actually able to have a conversation without having to say, 'what', all the time.
Po boy sandwich was great. Mac n cheese was nothing special. Calamari was good. Not better or worse than other places I've had it. Sweet potato fries were very good.
Good beer selection, good cocktails. Overall good experience.
Mostly empty, school age kid friendly.
It's the kind of place you wonder if the kitchen is clean. It's really a bar, but with some food. The whole thing is long in the tooth and the newest things are the TV screens playing the game...
One of the waiters literally cussed me out for asking to talk to the manager after portions distributed for a tip and a plate. Disappointed in professionalism and customer service. Will not return.
Was craving fish and chips and chose Bartlett Hall due to its proximity to home. It was a good choice. The fish & chips portions aren't huge but I think that's actually good, too many chips is usually bad for you. Theirs are tasty, not too thin-cut, and the tartar sauce is one of the best in SF. Good beer selection (you can see their beer tank inside the restaurant) and yummy cocktails were recommended. Will definitely return.
We chose this restaurant because it was very close to the American Conservatory Theatre.
We arrived a little bit early and so we had to wait; it was a full house so there was no seating.
Fortunately the wait was not very long.
Once we were seated we informed our server that we were going to a show and therefore in a time crunch. She was very accommodating, we got our delicious food very quickly and made it to the show on time.
We had an early dinner before an event in the SF Union Square district. I was trying to find a not so touristy place, which is a bit of a challenge in this area. Bartlett Hall was a pleasant surprise with regards to ambiance and service. Very vibrant and cosmopolitan and very friendly service. The food was a bit of a dissapointment. Deep fried Chicken Po Boy and Fish Taco's both without much taste.
Food was awful and service was slow - waiter should have noticed we did not eat the food and should have asked what was wrong or offered something else.
Claimed everything was good, and nothing was, including their homemade Bloody Mary.
Overall, a disappointment.
Visiting SF for our annual Granddaughters' Trip and needed somewhere near Union Square that could accommodate the tastes of 10yr old- 73yr old. Bartlett Hall fit the bill! Eclectic menu (we were there for brunch), good drink options (except stay clear of the lemonade- it was both too tart and too sweet), and excellent service.
Passed through San Francisco and asked hotel concierge for a recommendation for a family friendly pub to watch the MLS playoffs at. I made reservations, and was not disappointed with the food or the cocktails. They had a table reserved for us with the TV already on to the station with the game. This really is an adult place, but there is limited seating for families (if bringing kids - I recommend making a reservations). The tempura cauliflower with buffalo sauce, french fries, Yerba Buena and Negroni cocktails are winners. Needless to say we stopped by two other times during our stay to watch other games.
Great beer, great service, okay food. I had two great IPAs, our waiter was great, but service did drop when he went on break. Wings were pretty good, but pricey ($12/5 wings). Iadded bacon to my burger for $2 and got just a single strip. The patty was ordered medium, but came back well done in parts. Location isn't great, I don't like that part of town too much, but if I were close by I'd go back for at least the beer, and maybe try some of the other menu items.
I was a little concerned about eating here given some of the negative reviews related to the service, but I'm glad we did.
We had a reservation and were seated promptly. The food was good. The two desserts we tried were very tasty, with the chocolate mouse being the best.
The Bartlett Hall beers I tried were excellent. I forgot the exact name, but they had a chocolate porter that was incredible. They have guest taps as well if you prefer something else.
No complaints about the service. We had two different servers helping at various times and never went without timely and friendly attention.
Lots of TVs for sports viewing, with pretty much every seat having a good view of at least one of the screens.
We were looking for something casual before a show and gave it a try. Bartlett Hall is more of a sports bar than anything. It was OK, folks were professional but screaming sports fans overpowered everything else.
This was my last time at the Hall, service routinely disappoints.
Shouldn't have picked this for dinner. They wouldn't take simple things out of the salad for me, snacks and drinks...those worked. Bad service.
Great sports bar and wonderful food if not a large menu. The mac'n cheese with bacon was awesome and the burger well worth it.
Overall good. However the menu on open table was totally different from the menu at the restaurant. For example no porterhouse pork chop which is one of the reasons we chose to go there.
Greeter staring at her phone, server forgets to place order, etc.
The reason for the poor rating is that we were misled. The menu online had items that piqued our interest, but when we arrived there, they had a totally different menu. We were very, very disappointed. For example: Yellowfin Tuna Crudo,Pork and Ricotta Meatballs, House Made Pork Sausage just to name a few were not even mentioned on the menu in the restaurant.
My question is who is responsible for the content of the menu, on the website, accessed through Open Table?
Great food! Great server! We wanted a quality place to have dinner close to Union Square and with games on the tvs. Highly recommend. Thank you!
Whenever I go see a play at A.C.T I like to come here. Not only is the food good, it's close to the theater and they offer a theater discount. The staff are always friendly.
The Female front of house was particularly rude on arrival when we asked for a seat closer to some life in the bar. Waited over an hour for our main course, medium rare steak and the portion of food was tiny for $28. Overall, very disappointing and I'm confused that this place rated so highly. In all my years in USA, I've only refused to tip service twice, this was one of those times.....front of house attitude pretty much spoilt the evening for us, rest was downhill from there; we won't be returning or recommending.
Truly great fish and chips made with Pacific cod. We told our waiter we were pre-theater, and our service was very efficient and personable.
