You no longer have to go Venice to experience an authentic wine bar, as Barrique Venice is ready to serve you. The wine cellar at this place is worthy of the admiration of the most avid of collectors, and the finger foods pair well with your favorite red or white bottle.
Barrique Venice is a great place to go out with the girlfriends, enjoy some nice music and great conversation, all with impeccable service. The soft meat, vegetable and cheese platters are always a hit as well, and are expertly prepared at Barrique Venice. The next time you're out in Venice, head on over for a fantastic time.
Excellent and cozy space. Friendly staff and authentically Italian dishes.
Chef Antonio Mure still has a great touch at his flagship restaurant that has undergone some name changes but retains its high level of quality. Watercress salad is always terrific so is the crudo, an Italian version of ceviche. The beet based pasta is unique as is the chocolate pasta with wild boar. Grilled salmon was perfect and the wine list, which is quite broad with solid producers represented also has some reasonably priced sleepers. Our only criticism is the noise level, which is pretty intense but the food is so good it makes up for it and everyone seems to be enjoying themselves.
For fine, pricey, Italian dining the place is way off the mark. The small portion of whipped potatoes and pasta were decent — everything else sub-par. The burrata nothing special at all. The prosciutto was a big portion but not delicate and over stringy. The fish came fillet’d and tasted as thawed and not well flavored. Veal was fatty and cold. And finally both $100 bottles of wine tasted off — i suspect they are not stored properly. Ambiance is great and staff helpful — but without a kitchen the evening couldnt be saved.
Fantastic food and service. It was a first date for me, the server/owner was amazing. The food was wonderful. Such a wonderful evening. Hoping to go back when the Pumpkin Ravioli is back on the menu..
Best scallops I have ever had in my life, and I don't even like scallops. I also had the filet mignon which was perfectly cooked and paired well with the wine. Food was very very good. The only thing I would say is that the restaurant is very loud and the tables are close together. The whole restaurant is inside an old house, and we sat upstairs and it was difficult to hear. Service and food are top notch.
Fabulous ambience. Fabulous service. Food OK. Fabuously expensive. Good grief. We hit close to $300 for 2 people with 1 glass of wine and no desert. Simple Italian. The restaurant was packed on a weekday, so obviously other people love it. We live close by but won't be coming back.
Food was phenomenal! Place is absolutely beautiful and cozy. Please go. You won't be disappointed.
good food, good service, nice wines for a reasonable price. definitely would come here again
From the ambiance, service to the food and wine, everything was amazing. I read all of the great reviews and didn't know what to expect but definitely went above and beyond! It was the perfect birthday dinner! We'll definitely go again!
Well....the atmosphere is very cozy and nice. The service was prompt and capable...the wine very good...I would like to give this place 5 stars, but when I mentioned I was vegan to the waiter (not in an obnoxious way, just asking if there was anything they could do accommodate), he seemed not to know what I what that meant and kiiinda treated me like an alien. I mean, it's not that far out in Venice, CA in 2018 to have a vegan diner...especially in so popular a place. Anyway, he was hesitant to make suggestions or ask the chef if he could come up with anything, although I've requested this at other fine dining spots and they were willing and even enthusiastic to do it. I mean, everyone has vegetables right? It's even cheaper for them and they charge me the same, which I am happy to pay. Whatever. So, I made a suggestion for a substitution and he was like, "Well, I can't recommend that because it won't be the same dish". Fine, I realize that, but kind of unnecessary to say so and also made me feel weird and a little embarrassed. It ended up being very good, but I still was unimpressed by the attitude for a nice restaurant.
Amazing cuisine in a very modern, cozy interior. A wonderful place to take a date or meet with a special group of friends.
One of LA’s best kept secrets for a Italian Restaurant. Outstanding food and service by Owner/Chef Michelin awarded Antonio Mure on a romantic setting.
Atmosphere romantic as avertised and food great but specials very pricey.
My husband and I wanted to take our son and his partner for a nice dinner to mark the end of our vacation visiting them. Barrique Venice was chosen from a friends recommendation. For appetizers we ordered the scallops and the prosciutto e burrata. The were two scallops on a plate large enough to hold so much more. The prosciutto was typical and the burrata, in a word, dry, mmm I thought burrata should be down right milky.
For dinner my husband and I ordered the branzino, and our guests ordered pasta, one the black ink and the other the red beet., we all shared a taste and declared all delicious. Again the portion size was comical.
Food was delicious. Hostess was not particularly welcoming. The place was not crowded yet our party of 2 was asked to wait to be seated upstairs. After waiting about 10 minutes we were seated upstairs but outside in the cold. There were heat lamps although the wind was chilly. Perhaps the hostess could communicate seating options or offer guests a blanket if outside seating is the only offering. A little friendliness goes a long way too. Afterall, this is a neighborhood spot in a residential area.
We were celebrating a late Valentines dinner, I saw the excellent reviews on Yelp so I made reservations, the food was better than what we expected , the wine excellent, and will absolutely return. I already recommended it to my friends who are big foodies.
the only thing I would recommend is that you ask for a table outside, inside the tables are too close to each other .
Always the best date night. Incredible food and service.
Just awful. I’ve been here multiple times, and have recommended to other people. I will never go back or recommend ever again
My favorite "go to" restaurant for a romantic night out...
I had a friend that recommended this place. I pass by this place all the time but never had a chance to visit until my wife and I finally booked a last minute date dinner last Friday. At 845p, the place was happening. We were seated upstairs in a nice cozy room full of romantic ambiance. The server who also happens to be part owner was very attentive and gave us great recommendations. My wife had the beet pasta which was amazing and i had the tagliatelle with a bolognese sauce which was robust with flavor. Both of the dishes were simple but with enough complexity and sophistication. We had semi fredo for dessert which was a great way to complete our meal. For those in the SM / Venice / Westside area, I highly recommend it.
Food was outstanding. Our guest is a foodie and he was very impressed. Noise level is a bit loud but manageable. Service was fine not amazing but then again the restaurant was full.
The Wild Boar Pasta was perfectly al dente and the meat was superb. The octopus was perfectly done. Service is excellent in a very romantic, candlelit, rustic setting. Our #1 favorite westside restaurant.
The food was wonderful, and the service was great. Had a couple of the specials as well as the beet pasta (which is a must) and am sorry that they are not everyday items. The duck carpaccio was incredible.
I enjoy the ambiance and Alex and all the staff service. I enjoy the experience.
Outstanding food and service. Came here twice in a two-week stay in Venice Beach.
Great place. A little loud but it's still amazing. Food is incredible, service is awesome and the Italian wine selection is one of the best in LA.
This Venice "converted house" was off my radar until introduced by a friend. What a find! The space is a bit crazy but the service and the food is so good you forget about the layout and even about the noise - very loud and always crowded. Here, the highlight by far is the creative and well prepared food - period. Everything we had from salad to pasta to protein was wonderful. This is a food snobs delight. (Get the beet pasta...no, don't think about it, don't ask about it and don't try to figure it out....JUST GET IT!)
Nice experience but food prep was not exceptional. Fish was over cooked and pasta course with truffles was excellent but with rather small portion size. Service was terrific but as a small space there noise level was quite high.
Food was excellent. Very attentive staff. Beautiful ambience
The food was incredible!! The atmosphere was great. Service was also great!!! Going back very very soon:
Happy new year!
When we arrive they could not find our reservation but they accommodated us anyway. Our friends had never been and they enjoyed the dinner as did my husband and I. We did not see Tony the chef but his fellow co-owner, Tony, was great, he took good care of us!! Thank you!
Highly recommended. Amazing foodie place. Had the Amarone wine with scallops, branzine, and Paccheri pasta. All were fantastic. Ambience is very romantic with single candle lighting on each table. Service is leisurely, allowing you to savor the food and experience.
Love Barrique. We go at least twice a month. Feels like family. Always a warm welcome, friendly service. Food is excellent. Good wine list.
Food was delicious. Loved the Beet pasta with Quail. There is only one salad on the menu and it's for good reason - it was so good and perfectly balanced. We had the Scallops special, salad, beet pasta and sea bass and Pinot Noir and everything was great. We'll be back.
Exceptional food. My favorite restaurant in the Santa Monica / Venice area. Get the red beet pasta.
Love love love
We enjoyed the atmosphere and were actually able to hear each other easily. the food was good as was the wine. I would go here again, for sure.
Very nice, cozy restaurant on Main Street in Venice. The staff is friendly and the ambiance is lovely, set in what looks like just a small two-story house on the street. The food is great, although it came out quite slow. The pastas were flavorful and tasty – and despite that most of the ragus are from typically gamey meats the flavors are mild and approachable even if you're not used to animals like rabbit and pheasant.
Overall great meal and restaurant!
