Barrique Venice Ratings and Reviews
Very nice, cozy restaurant on Main Street in Venice. The staff is friendly and the ambiance is lovely, set in what looks like just a small two-story house on the street. The food is great, although it came out quite slow. The pastas were flavorful and tasty – and despite that most of the ragus are from typically gamey meats the flavors are mild and approachable even if you're not used to animals like rabbit and pheasant.
Overall great meal and restaurant!
If you are in Santa Monica/Venice Beach and like good quality food and overall dining experiences this restaurant is a must. Lovely atmospheric setting, attentive service, but most importantly the food is unbelievably good! It is an Italian restaurant, but not your average pizza and pasta shop - have a look at the menu online and you will see what I mean!
I have been to this place the last couple of years when visiting from the UK and will definitely be back in 2018, quite simply the best Italian food I have ever experienced.
I love this place! I never do reviews, but I love this place so much that I really feel like the deserve it... My only reservation in posting a review is that I don't want word to get out about what a great spot it is, because if everyone knows about it, I may not be able to get reservations in the future... :)
I requested a table upstairs on the balcony when I booked the reservation, however when I arrived the hostess said she couldn’t fulfill my request. It’s the only thing I requested for this special occasion- my girlfriend arrived hours prior from a 12 hr flight from Switzerland. With that in mind, we wanted a quiet and evening and the hostess put us right next to another two-top which we were so close to and could hear the whole conversation and consistent stories with the server that they apparently knew.
Why have a ‘request’ field when they cannot fulfil the only request?
High expectations, poor results. Went to dinner for my girlfriends birthday. After reading the above average reviews we were very excited to dine at Barrique. Our initial server stumbled right out of the gate and was repeating the nightly specials. Both entrees (bone end veal shank and the filet mignon) were very bland with absolutely no flavor at all. They tasted as if the chef forgot to season everything - including the extremely small serving of vegetable that accompanied our meal. Part of the reason we were excited to dine at Barrique in the first place was the website touting of Michelin starred chef Antonio Mure. When I asked our server if Antonio was in the kitchen, he stated he had not been there for years. You might want to put a disclaimer on the website about that. WTF?
I'm not the only one who thought Barrique would be "good for birthdays." There were 5 other birthday celebrants enjoying the delicious Italian fare. The pastas were exceptional as was the special daily appetizer of figs and scallop crudo, all served graciously. After the food, which Barrique certainly has down, my next favorite thing in a restaurant is to get to sing "Happy Birthday" to strangers. I got to sing for my sweetheart and 4 others.
We went to Barrique for my birthday. The attention to service was wonderful. We were helped by Tony and Michael. Both excellent. We were trying to decide between two entrees and Tony surprised us with the one we didn't choose as a gift from him. I whole heartedly recommend the Tagliolini Rossi con Ragù di Quaglia in Fonduta di Taleggio
Home-Made Red Beet Tagliolini Pasta in a Marsala Quail Ragú served on a bed of Taleggio Cheese Fondue. It was one of the best dishes we have had in a very long time. The rest of the meal was delicious as well. Go to Barrique you will not be disappointed. I will definitely be going back.
I've driven by a hundred times. Didn't look like much, but a friend recommended it. Took my wife for her birthday. Friendly hostess took us upstairs. Cozy, candlelit. Tony, the co-owner, waited on us. Truly, it was the best meal I've ever had in Los Angeles (and we love good food; ate at Otium by the Broad downtown earlier in the day). Started with the octopus. I'm Italian; I've eaten a lot of octopus, but never like this. Not chewy; incredibly flavorful. Wife had the pan seared scallops - slight crunch on the outside, soft and juicy inside. I had the beet tagliatelle on almond pesto. Indescribably delicious. Great texture and mix of flavors, none overbearing, but perfectly combined. She had halibut. Good size piece, prepared just like the scallops. They have Amarone by the glass, which is a treat. And they sang happy birthday to my wife. It's our new favorite restaurant.
This is an intimate, casual and fun restaurant in a pretty house with outdoor tables on the balcony and in the front yard. The chef, owners and even the patrons were all very friendly, helpful with the wine list and menu and full of good stories. The two pasta dishes we had (Beet Taglionlini and Pappardelle with Rabbit Ragu) were both unusual and delicious. The menu is a bit light on vegetables and appetizers, which would really make it pop.
Been there many times thru the different owners. Love beet pasta. still as good. Unfortunately there was a miscommunication about the special for the night and we thought he said t-bone steak instead came a t-bone veal chop. I didn't realize there was such a thing. NEvertheless it was good but not what i was hoping for. Next time i will pay closer attention.
I read about Barrique on The Infatuation website and was instantly hooked. Grilled octopus and prosciutto e burrata? Sold. Not only did we enjoy the apps and three of their best pastas (Papardelle, taglialini, and raviolini), but we could not have been happier with the service, from entrance to table to departure. Best spot ever for an intimate, cool, delicious occasion. Thank you, Miguel, for your fabulous service!
Food was great, service was great. Atmosphere was different - very quaint. Set inside a 2 story - home like setting with absolutely delicious food and great choice of wines. We had a mix of food - Duck, Branzino, Lamb, Steak, Pasta, Octopus... very nicely done. Will be back.
It was my girlfriend birthday and it was memorable. From the moment we arrived the service, the food, the ambiance was excellent. We had a great time and the evening was magical. We are both Italian, the menu and the specials looked amazing. We ordered two specials and the main course from the menu, all delicious. Definitely a restaurant to come back to and to recommend to friends.
Very cute, well-thought out cuisine. Tried this for DineLA and it did not disappoint! It's a small little restaurant that looks like a residential house from the outside. We dined on the balcony outside upstairs and it was great. On the pricier side, but worth it for a special occasion. Moderate amount of food.
Had a wonderful meal here during DineLA week. The food was excellent and perfectly portioned, myself and my husband shared everything. The service was really good, we had a friendly and helpful server that recommended what we order and it didnt disappoint. My one complaint (there's always one!) is that we felt very rushed, it's pricey too but nice to celebrate an occasion, would definitely recommend.
It's was nice. Nothing too special thought. But I would recommend this place: nice staff, very good octopus and panacota, other dishes was good too. Sitting outside will be a bit noisy because of the street, but it does not bother much. Candles, cosy atmosphere and great staff makes all of it much better.
