Great food, nice atmosphere, and superb service! I wouldn’t trust my 46th wedding anniversary dinner to anyone else!
Most everything was fine except these:
1) We sometimes waited for 10 to 15 minutes for refreshes, new drinks or our ordering process.
2) Seems that the bar area was low on several drinks and we tested out a few. The couple that we really liked, (at least over the other choices), were not replenished. If you're gonna offer a beverage, make sure you have more than one so the clients can order more. Having to order different drinks, many of which at least I, was not familiar with, took away from the whole experience.
You need to update your website. You started you be were open yet you were closed.
I don't know how they prepare the shrimp in shrimp Carbonara, but it was the best I've ever had. Same goes for the Brussel Sprouts Pan-seared in Thai chili & Bacon - exceptional. Loved the Caesar Salad too. Just a hint of anchovies - perfect. The other members of our party enjoyed their pork chops and Gnocchi Bolognese. Our server was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Hope you get to meet the gracious owner, Eli Wuest. We enjoyed an extremely pleasant evening, and will certainly be back.
I wanted to love this place as I’ve waited a while to actually eat here. It is a beautiful location. When I arrived there was only one other diner in the restaurant as it had just opened for dinner. We ordered a pasta dish and a burger. After over 40 minutes no food had arrived and our waiter kept stopping by to say food would be out shortly. We actually stopped him to say if not soon then we would have to take it go as we had tickets to an event. Finally my daughters Pasta arrived but still no burger. She had completely finished eaten and plate cleared before my food came. I ordered my burger medium well and it was at best medium rare. I ate around the edges. The fries were cold and mushy as if they had barely hit a fryer. The waiter had a manager come talk to us and initially said I cannot comp your food. She said there were problems with the kitchen equipment which I wish I had been told so I could have made a different choice. We were given a $20 dollar gift card and a 10% off coupon for our dinner nightmare. The drinks we had were really good but the food I cannot rate nearly as highly. We had a really bad experience and we are not restaurant complainers. I would have totally been willing to give them another chance if the manager had at least said let us take care of the food and we would have paid for the drinks.
Barrique is a wonderful place to have a family dinner or date night. I would recommend Barrique to anyone!
The food was amazing. The staff very attentive. The drinks were very good as well.
Will definitely be returning, enjoyed the entire experience.
We had an excellent meal. The atmosphere was great! Our waitress was wonderful!
Unfortunately the food was mediocre and they really didn't seem to have a solid system in place. For the price....which was 113 for my boyfriend and I. Everything should have been on point and it just wasnt. It was his birthday and he was disappointed. They did try to make amends with a free slice of cheesecake that was extremely tiny. The ambiance was nice but its just a story of the little engine that could....not.
Table was extremely wobbly. Staff was friendly and accommodating. The Charcuterie Board appetizer was pretty good but the main courses we had were average at best. Seafood Risotto was very runny and the other meal was a breaded meat that was super soggy due to the sauce that had been poured over it. The dish appears to have been removed from the online menu (can’t recall the name). Expected more based on what I had heard about the place and given the prices. Would suggest a slightly expanded menu.
Valentines
Our waiter was nowhere to be found for most of the evening. He got our order wrong and one of the corrected dishes was cold. We were able to get other people to help us with ordering wine and to correct the wrong order. I was very disappointed since this was our first visit and I had high hopes. Since it was a prefixed menu for Valentine's Day, we had to give a 20% tip and our waiter did not deserve it. We were in the first seating and one of the dessert choices was already sold out. Will not be returning.
Reservation was for 5:30pm. We were seated timely but it took 3 hours to finally get all the courses And they ran out of the desert we ordered at 5:30 pm!!! Not sure what happened this Valentines Day...last time we had great service...timely service...and they didn’t run out of anything. Will not be going back unless it is just on a regular night. Service and food are usually excellent. Very disappointed with the Valentine dinner.
We had lovely time. My partner order special like had salad .and green fried Tomatoes. The mash potatoes made fresh ..service outstanding they made our night special.
Service, food, and drink are amazing.
This was our second visit. The first time was outstanding with great flavor in every dish. We were very pleased with everything.
This second time was very mediocre. The food was underwhelming all around.
We’ll give Barrique another chance and hope it was just an off night. It is a great venue and we want it to succeed.
I really enjoyed this restaurant. The service, waiters and food were outstanding. I would definitely recommend.
The steak tasted strange. The mashed potatoes were great. But definitely not worth the money we spent. We were really hoping it would be a new favorite but we won’t be back, unfortunately.
The frittata was outstanding!
Delicious food! Especially loved the truffle fries & truffle Mac n cheese w shrimp!
Loved it! Saw the billboard on Hey 70 and decided to try this place. We were pleasantly surprised! So glad to discover this upscale dining spot with an upstairs lounge vibe (with TVs to watch the games). Superb service and amazing food. You can tell that everyone cares about the guests’ experience. I look forward to visiting again when I’m back in town!
We have dined here many times alone and with friends. The wine list and wait staff are excellent. The menu..please recreate..please. Not vegan or vegetarian friendly in the least. The veggie sandwich was flavorful but the carb adhering to it was akin to wonder bread. French fries crispy but too greasy. Salad selection should be expanded upon.
We really want to support Barrique, but find it difficult to continue to do so without showing some menu creativity.
Absolutely wonderful! It’s so nice to see this area finally get a restaurant as good as this! Their wine selection is great, steaks were cooked perfect. We went back and did brunch, the drinks were very good and the breakfast skillet was the perfect start to the day! Highly recommend!
The food was delish and the service was fantastic. I loved the venue and atmosphere. Class act here!!
We ordered a salad that was in the menu and our server told us that the owner that makes wasn’t in so therefore there was no salad. I ordered the wedge salad and didn’t care for it.
Our steaks were Del ious along with fried green tomatoes. My issue was it took us over 45 minutes to be served our dinner and the restaurant wasn’t that busy.
We had one server who was working three tables , one was a party of 8. Our food was cold. It took 15-20 minutes between seeing our server. Slow service, cold food not worth coming back.
This place is awesome. If you're within 60 miles, you should check it out. Goldsboro is lucky to have such a high quality restaurant. We had Fried Green Tomatoes and the Veal, our guests split the chicken. The flavors were phenomenal. Highly, highly recommend.
Our first time here, and we will be back! The filet and the ribeye were outstanding. Can also definitely recommend the fried green tomatoes!
Food was very good. I just feel this restaurant is just for special occasions. The prices are very high for this area.
This is a gem in the middle of Goldsboro. The food was exceptional and the Chef is totally dedicated and skilled in his craft. He even came to our table to answer questions about his fried green tomatoes which were superb. Our waitress was very helpful and constantly attended to our needs. The whiskey bar area upstairs was lively and energetic. Will be there again soon!
Absolutely LOVED it! Was first time there and everything was spectacular. We even were treated to a free dessert! Lovely lovely lovely place. So charming and the food - scallops, fish, and special pasta and the WINE were all fabulous!!! This is definitely a place I will return to often!
Loved the dining experience. The food was great and service was top notch.
We went for Father's Day Brunch and the food was great. Small menu, but choices were good. Service was a little slow but wait staff was very nice. Like the atmosphere and the building is beautiful. Would come back again.
It was not too crowded. The food was delicious and the service was great. We would definitely come back for another special occasion.
Appetizer was good. Then our steaks came. Ordered a sirloin and a filet with lobster cooked medium rare. way over cooked. sent back. steaks then came out way undercooked. waiter said sorry and walked away. Manager came by and said sorry and comp'ed a $7.50 dessert. Steaks cost us $78for 2. I ended up spending $119.00 for a meal we didn't even eat for our 11th anniversary. Will never go back. They did not care. For a restaurant that only serves steaks, they need to get a better chef and a new manager that can correct problems.
The fried green tomatoes were top notch. The chicken tasted great, but was a little dry. The truffle fries were great, but not very truffle-y. The management staff was amazing, and so was the ambience. Will definitely return.
Nice restaurant. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. It was mother's day so we had the brunch menu. The food was really good. The site said business casual but we did see people there in shorts and tanks. I saw instruments there and will likely try to make it back when they have a bad playing. I'd definitely recommend.
Great food, service, and atmosphere!
Steak was under cooked, chicken dry and over cooked. We showed up as a table of 6 and only one other family was in the restaurant. Poor food quality was not a result of the restaurant being too busy when we ordered. Very beautiful interior, has potential, if they can get better cooks in the back. Cocktails are very good. Would go back for cocktails with friends.
