Tacos de la Bodega
spit roasted pork, cheesy scrambled free range eggs, cilantro, onion, salsa morita, filament potato
aged jack cheese, pickled red onion, black bean, jalapeños, roasted tomato salsa, pico de gallo, garlic crema
crispy papas, agave-jalapeño, roasted tomato aioli
The steak was over cooked, dry & hard. The hot mezz didn’t taste like mezcal at all.
Overall not good experience.
Appetizers came after entrées. Server didn’t even apologize. I usually love Octopus and it is really hard to mess it up, but the octopus appetizer was burned. It was also overpriced.
The octopus tacos were very good (the best part of the dinner).
The churros were awful. They seemed old and fresh out of a microwave.
Even though the server was nice, the service was bad overall.
The valet was also a huge wait.
I’m usually easy with food, but this place was a disappointment
I do not recommend this place. There are plenty other higher end Mexican places at same price range with better food and service
Food was okay, but service was below expectations. The server took a long time to come to our table to take our orders. They were also out of a number of items on the menu and it was not brought to our attention till after we tried to order it. Food was okay, but for the price point I would expect something better.
It takes too much order and got the food
The smoked brisket tacos were truly something to write home about! Wow, I swear I am still dreaming about how delicious they were.
What a great place! Went here for Lunch for Fathers Day. I had requested a high chair in my reservation and asked again when I checked in and the hostess was more than accommodating. She asked another staff member to check on the availability and asked if we wanted to wait to be seated until the rest of party came. (There was a two hour time limit once seated). Once everyone arrived we were seated in a booth and the high chair was in front of the table. The server was nothing short of amazing. She was super friendly and checked on us regularly and made friends with my little niece. The food and drinks were really good. The only con was that it was REALLY LOUD. There was a DJ and I really liked the music she played, but for the middle of the day it was a bit much.
Good service and good food, little noisy outdoor but is downtown its okay
We will be back! Such a good spot if you’re trying to hit the town with your friends. Thanks Barrio + staff!
Slow service. Brought wrong order. Brisket tacos were very good.
Best tacos I’ve had in a long time! Drinks were expensive BUT it is Chicago, so that is to be expected! Wish we had one in Detroit:)
Wonderful food and the server was great! Will be back!
Lobster quesadillas and octopus tacos were delicious - inside was very loud with music, but we sat outside on the patio which was very comfortable.
Food was absolutely AMAZING!!! Great service!!!!!
It took 15 minutes to get sat after our reservation, and when we were the host sat us at a dirty table with guacamole spread all over it. I know the host realized it, because she used my menu to try and wipe off the garbage instead of asking us to wait for it to be wiped down. We stayed off the table until I could ask a busser to wipe it down. He then gave us dirty share plates and one linen roll-up (for two of us) and the linen was totally wet. When the overworked looking server got to us she swapped everything out. We placed our drink orders, and 30 minutes after being seated we finally had them in front of us. We ended up not getting food and just left after paying $40 for two melted / watered down drinks and an hour of our lives. Coming out of a pandemic people should be way more aware of cleanliness. I was so excited to eat here, but everything being dirty really ruined my appetite and excitement. Additionally, by the time of our reservation nothing else nearby was open so we ending up getting fast food. Not a great birthday dinner, and definitely not worth the Uber ride there
Delicious tacos! My husband and I each ordered tacos. I had chicken and steak; he had octopus. Flavorful and tender and loaded with meat. We also had the charred tomatoes and jalapeño salsa. So yummy!
We ate outside on the patio. It was beautiful, the food and service were excellent. We will definitely be back anytime we are in Chicago.
Dj was playing great music!! Waitress was wonderful and fun! Food was alright. Drinks were delicious
Love it! Drinks were amazing
The happy hour tacos were absolutely amazing as well as the service!
I have nothing nice to say about this place, they were sold out of a few items on the menu so that was already a bummer, server was okay the food on the other hand. The most dry, tasteless tacos I’ve ever had in my entire life.
My first time here despite living only a mile away. My family and I were celebrating my Son’s graduation. I made the restaurant aware of the occasion but no recognition from them. We enjoyed our food: tuna ceviche tacos, steak nachos and guacamole flight for appetizers; an array of tacos along with Spanish rice and spicy corn as sides. Every dish was delicious and didn’t disappoint! However, the service was terrible. My husband’s order went missing and when we alerted our server, Bobby, he was lackadaisical and unapologetic. We made it known that we still wanted the dish (al pastor tacos) made, but after 30 min and reminders that we were still waiting for it we told them to just cancel it. We asked for the check and upon receipt of it, the tacos appeared. It took away from what could have been a great dining experience. We’ll definitely be back for the food in hopes of better customer service.
Wonderful atmosphere with amazing food and great staff!
Food is okay, but your real value is in the drinks. The bartenders took great care of us and were conversational. We ordered the smoked brisket tacos, and they were both burnt and greasy, upsetting our stomachs. The vibe was upbeat and the DJ was an added bonus, playing great music throughout our time.
This was a very mixed experience. The lobster roll was phenomenal, but unfortunately, the grilled octopus tacos tasted very undercooked, which was off-putting. Service was really slow, I felt bad because it was busy, but we had to ask several times for simple items like cutlery, plates etc. We were literally served without knives and forks. The cocktails were hit or miss, the margaritas tasted watered down but the Paloma was great. I am very happy we sat outside (nice patio) because inside it sounded overwhelmingly loud (so make sure you reserve outside)
Always love brunch on the patio at Barrio we drive from central Illinois sever times a year to enjoy this!!!
Food was ok for the price, ambience on the street was good. Service was mediocre, never asked if we wanted a second drink until after food was gone
Our server Cortez was amazing, we stayed for so long because he was just awesome and gave us great service and was so fun! However, their was only 1 Bartender for the whole restaurant so drinks took forever to get.
This place is a winner. We tried the lobster quesadillas, enchiladas, & tacos, and each dish was presented nicely and tasted amazing! The drinks were also creative and really good. Great ambiance and a really nice, large outdoor area. We will definitely return!
Barrio was amazing! Get the blueberry corn bread at brunch for the table. Phenomenal! All of the drinks were refreshing. The service for a Saturday during a downpour was great! We had plenty of attention from our server. And Doug, who is one of the managers was super accommodating, checking on and chatting up all of the tables. The music was really good and the noise level was more people talking, versus the music. 5 stars. Go there!
Waiter, food, and environment were perfect 10. Reservation made at 2 sat at 230
We had an amazing time, as always!
Good food and drinks. Good for dates and get togethers but music a little too loud for my taste although the DJ had a nice playlist . Not the best for families or people with food restrictions.
Our waiter recommended a few items that were spot on! Tuna ceviche tacos, beef brisket tacos - delicious! Wish they had a pork al pastor selection - maybe you could add to your menu. 😉
Our waiter was engaging, friendly and attentive to the right amount.
Music was a little loud for conversations to be had, but the music selection was great! 🎶
The bartender Anthony was great!
Barrio was great. Loved the outdoor seating arrangement, food was delicious. Tequila flights are a must do! Ask for the listing.
Awesome dinner; music was a bit loud, but food and drinks were great.
Happy hour menu didn't have many 'specials' on it as the food was priced at the same or $1-2 less than regular menu price. They do have a great brunch though - would recommend going during that time of day.
Great play list. Sat in patio and people smoke close by so not great. Apparently you can vape on a patio in Chicago?
Music was a little loud but the food and service were very good.
