Food is fair but blend. Bit overpriced, and the ambience is not Mexican (or Latin). By the time we pay for parking, the plate of enchiladas was over $70. Try adding some fun and some colors to the place.

Overall experience wasn’t bad but I wouldn’t go again. The food doesn’t stand out that much, their drinks are okay, and the overall ambiance on the patio is poor. There isn’t enough space to comfortable sit without the table next to you being on top of you. Service was slow and I ordered the Cherry Piña Colada and it literally was just a piña colada with a cherry on top…

It was so dark it was impossible to see your food. Who wants to eat like that? Service was slooooow, and they got at least one order wrong. Disappointing, been there before, but not sure I’ll return after last night’s experience.

The food was delicious! I had the enchiladas with mole sauce and it had a spicy kick. My colleague had the carnitas enchiladas with the verde sauce on the side, and it was excellent! The cornbread was outstanding, and can easily be a dessert or appetizer. Was a bit disappointed in the guacamole because it was billed as “Table side guacamole” but it was not prepared at our table as we expected, but brought from the kitchen. The chips served with the Guac were light and crispy. Overall a great value for the price and I would recommend it.

we had a bad experience here. we were seated and our server paid us no mind. he walked past our table numerous times, serving everyone us around else. we didn’t even get plates or utensils. it had be 45 mins until he took our order. at this point, I went to management about this issue and they actually gave us a free meal, which was really nice. the server was so nonchalant about it, though, not sure if he was having a bad day but I won’t be back here.

There was hair in our food and the waiter could care less. Gave the taco with hair in it to the manager and he took a photo and claimed that nobody in the kitchen had hair like that. He did take the food off of our bill.

This was the worst taco I have ever had. There was literally no salt in it. The corn bread was good, the frozen margarita was great and the server was amazing but the taco was the worst and I felt ripped off. Would not recommend

Such a fun place and great service! We had the table guac which was unique and had some tasty tacos. Didn’t try the cocktails (next time!) even got an amazing basket of churros comp’d for our anniversary! Thank you Barrio for the great experience while visiting Chicago!

Miriam gave great service. She took notice of the open table notes and confirmed my drink of choice and took it a step further to personalize the experience by connecting with me and recognizing we have the same birthday! We had the cornbread-DELICIOUS, table side guacamole so good, 3 salsas all were delicious, the mango cucumber stood out a swimmer for me. The short rib taco with the au ju loved the flavors, my friend had the Al pastor chicken taco salad, he had a new favorite chicken flavor, my friend loved his Al pastor chicken tacos. Thanks for a great experience.

Menu is very limited now. They no longer make certain drinks, etc. $22 for guacamole for 2 people is overpriced in my opinion. Very disappointing.

Terrible service. We had to request assistance from another waiter but even that took forever. We didn’t get everything we ordered and told them but they never tried to bring until after we were done eating. Then instead of asking if we wanted anything else, like another drink or dessert, they just walked by and put the check on the table. 2nd time there. Won’t go back.

Fun for a celebration. Fast service and a lot of TVs. I didn’t think the food was worth the price but also I was visiting from San Diego and the Mexican food is unmatched there. Blueberry cornbread was 10/10.

Nachos were fantastic and the service was wonderful. The skirt skate tacos were dry. More like eating kibble, but they had our reservation ready when we arrived. They do not allow seating for over 4 on the patio so that was a disappointment that they did not say on the reservation.

Best cornbread Ive ever had! Short rib tacos were tasty but would have benefitted from some chopped tomato and fresh herbs or salsa. Tuna taco was nice and fresh.

Server was very absent. And not very helpful. When we were able to track her down to ask a question, she acted like it was a major inconvenience. Food was excellent though. Loved fried rice bowl. Did not expect that at a taco place.

Went on a Friday at 7pm… Be prepared to have to yell to talk to someone next to you. Like absurd if you’re just trying to have dinner. The drinks were great. Well made. Food was okay. Could have used more flavor, especially the enchiladas. Guac was very good & you get a good portion for $16. Think this would be more ideal on a weeknight, assuming they’re not blaring music at a ridiculous level.

They have tasty food and good happy hour deals. The only thing is, their vegan options are lacking, so if you have someone in your party who is Vegan, it may not be the best for them.
