We were in Chicago looking for something different and finally decided on Mexican. We are at Barrio and we’re so pleasantly surprised by the fabulous dinner, ambiance and great service. We had the Nachos, which were large enough to share as well as the Churros. My husband made the comment “best he’s ever eaten” and trust me we’ve been all over the world.
We’ll be back.
Oh BTW check out the disco ball in the ladies room. So fun!!
We did have to wait a bit for our drinks bc the bartender was backed up but other than that their food and service was great
The food was good as always but our server was not great.
We were among the first diners for the day and by the time we got our drinks the place was packed, make a reservation!!! We got the tuna ceviche tacos as an app, SO fresh and delicious. For mains we got the skirt steak and eggs, super flavorful and perfectly cooked. The Adobo Fried Rice was the star of the show, it’s heavy but my god it’s amazing. Perfect flavor diversity of sweet, tangy and buttery. Honorable mention for the Bloody Mary that comes with a built in snack - a jalapeño popper! Fabulous service and overall a great experience!
Loved the food and options. Wonderful blends if flavor
Great place for lunch or dinner or a date. It's laid back but has a great energy with the upbeat music pumped into the restaurant and outdoors. The mushroom taco is my all time favorite go to. We've been to Barrio several times and I always order this. I can happily say they haven't changed the recipe once. This visit I also ordered the Enchilada plate w/chicken al pastor. This enchilada had loads of flavor. They don't skimp on the red sauce and the enchiladas are also drizzled with a white sauce that takes the flavor up another notch. The chicken was so tender. I guess I'll be adding the enchilada plate to my favorites list!
The food was terrible. Wouldn’t go back or suggest this place to anyone.
We ordered guacamole, lobster benedict, beef taco, and steak and egg for brunch. The food was good overall, service was a bit slow, and the noise level was quite high. Probably won't go there again for brunch since there are some great options nearby.
Food was cold and unseasoned, and I think our server forgot about us. I was really expecting to be blown away but sadly was not. They have bottomless bloody Mary’s, which I think is what all the hype is really about.
This place was fantastic! Service was great and the food was perfect. The Chicken and churros were incredibly delicious.
Our waitress was the best!! Super friendly and nice n always a smile!! I even told her it was really nice to have a waitress like her. I don’t remember her name but she use to work at a other restaurant. I think she only been working w u guys like 1 or 3 month. Black hair. She made our night amazing!! It’s hard to get waitress like her. And the food was delicious also!
Barrios was a let down. The food was good but not great. Drinks however were excellent. But the service was dismal. Our server took wrong orders and we had no table napkins or cutlery till we asked for it. Dessert was dumped with no spoons. We had to wait to get drinks reordered as our server seemed occupied by the table next to us. All in all, I would not recommend this place for the service and the food, which was mediocre.
Kitchen/restaurant closes way prior to noted time.
Great place. Good drinks and big portions. Friendly staff.
Food was great though there is a definite lack of vegetarian options. The atmosphere is very lively but loud at times even on weekdays. Great service, great experience otherwise!
Our waitress was so sweet and the environment is definitely a vibe. The food and drink was just..okay. We ordered the margarita tower and we were underwhelmed. The drink taste like margarita mix without tequila. We ordered extra shots (at a discount thanks to our waitress), but even that couldn't save it. The tacos were okay, but I expected better for the price and location.
Food was excellent except the octopus tacos, which were better in the past. Very slow service even though it wasn’t busy at all.
Food and the vibe was good. Nice waitress. I definitely recommend.
Overpriced, mediocre flavored- not authentic food, we requested condiments and additional silverware and received it almost 30 minutes into the meal... we understand its a busy brunch but to track down our server it was impossible. Sad for a birthday brunch, left underwhelmed.
Food and service were great! Thank you to our server Christian!
We really couldn't have had a better date night! Food was excellent but service was even better. Our waitress was super busy and offered us free dessert just for being busy and us not complaining. Highly recommend the guac flight and octopus tacos!
Great food and a really cool place to grab some Mexican food.
No HVAC and no mention of it to guests in advance of showing up to the door
Food was amazing
Food wasn’t too great for the price, but it’s a fun place and has great drinks.
Service was extremely slow took over an hour to get food and one of our orders was wrong. Ordered drinks that never came. Discussed issue with manager who was of no help. Restaurant was extremely loud with house music booming. Unable to hold conversation.
Seated immediately despite it being crowded in the entry (reservations, obviously).
Chips and salsa, for as simple as that order is, was quite literally the best salsa I've ever ordered. Perfect chipotle smoky flavor, chunky but not too chunky, chips fresh and crisp.
Steak tacos were amazing, carnitas enchiladas were amazing..er? Amazinger?
Drinks were typically priced for a downtown place, but stiff enough to warrant it.
10/10 will come again.
Great food, great ambience.
Chips & guac and drinks were fine. Table and setting were good. But our waitress really dropped the ball. We wanted to order food and more drinks but she was no where to be found. She only came to the table 3 times. We were there for nearly 2 hours and didn’t get to order entrees because she was so MIA and we had to leave to catch trains.
The food was excellent but the service was lacking. As there were six of us the waiter already knew he was going to get his tip as it was added to the bill for us, therefore he wasn't to keen on us. He had an attitude when taking down our food orders and when we asked for separate bills he said no. He also had a vet bad attitude when we were paying the bill. I highly recommend this res because the food is amazing but hopefully you don't land on the same waiter as we did.
The prices for Happy Hour aren’t discounted much at all. $5 skirt steak taco was good. Tuna ceviche was ok, tuna didn’t look fresh. Margs a bit sweet for our taste. Salsa, eh. Not authentic food and charging for chips & salsa? Ridiculous’
Our server Nicole was great! It was my first time and she made it a wonderful experience!
We thought we were booking at a Mexican restaurant but it turned out to be night hot spot. Lots of drinking, really loud music, groups partying or celebrating. Fine if that’s what you are looking for. The food was good, the service was really good. Just too loud and hectic.
Excellent food and excellent service! We will definitely be returning in the future!
The waiter was great, but had to look for him a few times.
Great food delicious. 10/10 recommend, but if you don’t like a lot of noise I’d suggest seating outside.
Great atmosphere, delicious cocktails and amazing cuisine!
Our server Jay was great! He gave great recommendations and made sure we had a great experience
I took my daughter for her 21st birthday. We had a very nice time. The waiter was a little over-busy and there were some food snafus which were quickly corrected. The food was great (tacos and nachos). A very nice birthday ice cream dessert complete with live sparkler was an amazing finishing touch! I’d definitely go to Barrio again.
