My wife and I were visiting from the east coast and I wanted to try an authentic Mexican restaurant before we left. We settled on this place which was disappointing at best. Sat down and were given plates and silverware. One plate had dried food on it. No biggie, it happens. We order drinks and apps to start. Machete and barrio Margarita were good. The roasted corn app was good as well. We ordered the guacamole, which was advertised as table side prepped, but it was brought to the table already prepared. It was not good at all. I've had better at fast food joints. It was sliced avocado and pomegranate. I do not recommend. At all. We then decided to just order tacos, 3 each. Again, nothing sensational about them, just ok. I ordered rice and beans with mine, but they didn't show up. I let the waiter know and said he would make sure I got them. I never did. As I finished my drink, the waiter asked if I'd like another, which I said no. My wife was still drinking hers. The waiter then showed at the table and asked if I was paying with cash or card. I said card. He had a handheld card processor with him and he took my card and ran it. He never bothered to actually give me a bill. It happened so fast I didn't know how much I was paying. I gave him a 20% tip and then had to give feedback on the card processor for the food, service, and atmosphere while the waiter was holding it. Silly. I then selected "print receipt". Honestly I just wanted to know how much the bill was and if I was charged for the rice and beans. Well a few minutes go by and finally I had to wave to the waiter to ask him for the receipt. He came back with it crumbled. I wasn't charged for the rice and beans. We had a few choices for Mexican food, we definitely chose poorly.

Food and drinks were good, but they did not honor our reservation even though they knew about it. Hostess confirmed our reservation upon arrival but then was told that we could not be seated as reserved. Very disappointing. Who was at fault?......Barrio Queen or Open Table? We never found out.

Eaten at this restaurant multiple times, and this experience was by far the worst. We will never come back. Service was slow and terrible. Ordered the tamale trio. 20 minutes after I ordered waiter came back and said they were out of all tamales. Reordered the trio of enchiladas. Then took another 20 minutes to get our meal. They were some of the worst I have ever had, no filling, dry with almost no sauce on top of them. Wife’s fajitas were the worst she has ever had.

I visit this restaurant frequently. I have been by the Tempe, Scottsdale, Tatum and Arrowhead locations and have always enjoyed my meal and service. Flavor packed, friendly staff. I will be back soon.

We went for Dia de los Muertos celebration and it was baaaad. Server not good, bless her heart. The chips were oily and we asked for another basket. She said, "they'll be the same" Uh ok. Fajitas bad. Burrito salty and bad. We should've left when the chips arrived but stupidly stayed. Decisions were made, regrets remain.

Fajitas were burnt. Rest of for good, which is why we continue coming back. Service was slow. They put a long table of about 14 blocking the gate out of patio. We had autistic child in wheelchair.

Our server, Pablo, gets kudos for the awesome service he provided. Although he appeared to have plenty of tables he was there every time we needed him with a happy and gracious attitude. As always, the food was great. We love the patio ambiance too.

We had a wonderful meal at Barrio Queen. The drinks and our service were amazing. Would have been 5 stars on the food, however, some of our parties food arrived a bit cold while others were hot so felt like a mistiming. Overall a great spot and would recommend.

We enjoyed the cuisine and excellent service. The only problem was lack of handicapped parking next to the restaurant. My friend has difficulty walking, and it was truly dangerous for her to walk across the street given traffic in the area. Fortunately, cars stopped for her.

We were running late for our reservation and had to call twice. The hostess took it all in stride and got us in right when we arrived outdoors as we requested. Food was excellent. The Arizona burrito is fantastic. The outdoor seating and ambience is great considering its location right in the city. There is a parking ram right below the restaurant which means you don’t have to figure out parking. Second time we’ve eaten here and will come again.

Had a reservation got seated next to the door in the corner waited 5-10 min before asking who our server was to get water, got chips and salsa and then instead of getting asked if we were ready to order we had more chips placed as we watched our server run around. Finally getting to us to ask if we wanted something to drink other then water we order all our food and drinks at one time so avoid having to potentially wait even longer….our margarita flight came out 10 min before our guest root beer! I understand being busy and under staffed but not one did we get told they were understaffed or busy instead during multiple occasions throughout our dinner we had random servers asking us if we needed anything more or bringing us our drinks. Then at the end of the dinner we got a “so sorry” but no compensation for the pure waste of our dinner and time. We ordered $127 worth of food and brought home the ceviche. Left everything else us clearly being significantly dissatisfied with our food the servers just stared and handed us our check. Never again.

We celebrated a dinner with our 95 year old mom who had never been to Barrio Queen , and she absolutely loved it. Food was delicious, Flavorful, and the value of food to what was charged for the food was great! It's very rare amongst all restaurants to actually get a "hot" and "fresh" meal, and we appreciated that. The server was very knowledgeable, and made some great recommendations! Oh, and we LOVED our cocktails too - so fresh and well balanced. We can't wait to take her back!
