Loved the building and location- menu was amazing! The biggest let down was the noise level! I couldn’t hear the conversation being held at my table. I rushed through my meal to get out of the restaurant because it was so so loud. My poor waiter- amazing service- was having a hard time hearing my order!!
Great Salmon tacos, enjoyed the restaurant, ambience was fun and wait staff outstanding. Recommend
Came here for a birthday, and really wasn't inspired by their menu. In the past I've heard great things about Barrio, but it fell flat for me. The menu really only covered appetizers and individual tacos (that seems overpriced). There was a small section at the end for specialty items, but $18 seemed to be way too much for chicken enchiladas... I opted for the port taquitos, which were more flavorful than my (dry) chicken taco and lamb taco. For my drink, i ordered a blood orange margarita which was tasty, but for $12 I expected more than a short glass. Overall, seemed overpriced for mediocre food. There's much better places for the price elsewhere on Capitol Hill.
I just LOVE Barrio! I love that their menu & cocktails continue to evolve. I also love that you can describe the flavors of liquor you like to the bartender and they will customize something for you.
Great, warm, family-like staff and environment that lends itself to always meeting new friends!
Love this place!
My girlfriend is a recent transplant from Phoenix, and thought this was superb Mexican food, better than her favorite in Phoenix. The enchiladas were amazing. Guacamole had a hint of heat, no fillers. Chips and salsa were perfect. Cocktails were unusual and nicely done. Service was pleasant, and attentive without being intrusive. We'll definitely be back.
This restaurant was located close to our Airbnb and it was a good find. My friend did find two pieces of hair in her meal and they were VERY responsive. Took her meal, offered to make a new one, comp’d the mail and gave us a gift card to them or their sister restaurants. Good service otherwise.
Loved the ambience and the food was amazing.
The lighting was very weak and ended up using cellphone lights to read the menus. The food was delicious and varied enough for everyone to find something to suit them
I always make a reservation here and have been seated in the same cozy booth with my bf each time, which is nice. My only complaints are prices for salsa and chips- for their overall prices, shouldn’t salsa and chips be free?
The tacos are huge and always good. Small guac is $6. Bf is 6’2”/200#, so that is like 3 bites for him. Kind of a bummer. Service is always top notch, tho, and if slow due to being busy, they hustle later. The little booths behind the bar are cute and private and help with the noise level.
Great food and great service
It was so dim where we were. I also didn’t like the service. It was pretty rushed and rude.
We were very disappointed in this reservation experience. When we arrived, they did not have our changed reservation time in the system (I originally booked 7pm and changed to 5:30pm earlier that day). We showed the host our reservation confirmation email showing the time change from opentable and he said they still didn't have it in their system and he didn't have a table for us. He said they had no availability until 7pm (though they had at least 5 open 2 person tables that remained open the ENTIRE TIME we were there) and there was nothing he could do. He was very dismissive and offered us no solution and walked away to assist another guest. I approached him when he returned to the desk to ask to speak with a manager and he said that they had a no-show guest and if we waited a little while, we could be sat at their table. The way the host handled this situation was very dismissive, rude and very disappointing.
Went for a date night. Good ambiance and friendly, attentive wait staff. Food is good but NOT the best Mexican restaurant on the Hill.
Awesome fun atmosphere. Good food and great drinks. Bar looked like a great place to meet new friends!
This place was ssssoooo good! My friend and I were so happy with the food and drinks. All of the staff were so friendly with the right amount of attentiveness. Next time I am in Seattle, this will be my first stop.
I love Barrio but the noise levels did prevent conversation. It is, “exciting” but personally I’d prefer if they toned it down. We measured it at 88 decibels on an app.
Delicious, boozy cocktails, fabulous tacos, and wonderful waitstaff. This is a fab and fun restaurant. Highly recommend.
Service was just ok. Felt rushed between drinks, appetizers and mains and the building was rather empty.
Our waitress didn’t seem engaged. The menu has changed over the years, I was disappointed in the lack of entrees. The cocktail menu came off as gimmicky to me, who wants to spent a lot of time reading through a list of ingredients when you first sit at a table, I’d rather visit with my guests. Dinner and drinks for 3 with tip $175, I could have done better elsewhere for $125.
Overall the restaurant was great! This was our first time stopping by and enjoy brunch. The drinks were top notch! The salsa we bought was not very spicy, which was a let down. The food we ordered was well prepared. Our waitress was amazing! She was friendly and helpful.
Taquitos were the best thing we got!
We booked a table on a chance, and was very pleased. It was New Years Eve, and dinner turned out to be the best part of our evening :) Food was excellent, creative and delicious, staff was professional and onpoint. Thank you!
Always a great dining experience!
Disappointing meal at Barrio. We were a group of 7. None of the dishes ordered were particularly good. My carnitas dish was burnt. The trout dish my husband ordered was disappointing. Very loud corner table made conversation difficult.Waiter was friendly and good. The prices seemed high overall.
It was great
Loved it !
Cauliflower tacos were amazing as was the chicken enchiladas - drinks were also very good .Will definetely go back.
Barrio used to be a great place to get good Mexican/Southwest cuisine. Everything has shifted to ala carte and portions are much smaller. Expensive for what you get. Service is spotty; sometimes great and sometimes lousy. Most staff appeared to be bored. The tortillas used for the tacos are some of the worst I have ever eaten; gooey and under-cooked.
I hope things get better but I won't be back until they do.
I loved the al pastor tacos the first time I went, and have been back 3 times since then and they have always fallen short of the first time. They still are fine, but they lack deep flavor and complexity. I'll keep trying because the price is good, location is good and the drinks are great.
Extremely uncomfortable chairs, extremely noisy, bad lighting for people photos, over-priced everything, horrible parking options, salty but delicious enchiladas.
Barrio served a delightful lunch in a great atmosphere for Mexican food. The service was great, and more than expected.
Service and food were good for 4 of us. Nice setting
We tell people our new favorite restaurant is Barrio. Recently, we took our new neighbors there. Drinks were delicious. I ate every bit of my entree, and the Creme Brulee was the best I've ever had!
Had 6:45 reservation so we got there at 6:40. The host said we would have to wait 10 minutes for a table. We were not seated until after 7:00 (20 minutes later). Once seated, we were not greeted or served for another 10-15 minutes. Great food but poor service.
Had a great dinner there with my family and kids who are young adults and appreciate atmosphere with good energy. Great service, food was flavorful and great atmosphere. Will go back.
What excellent Mexican Tacos. Really fresh and excellent produce. Very nice Guacamole and chips. Good service and excellent beers on tap.
I wish my salad had been served on a plate instead of a small bowl. I felt cocktails were a little overpriced. Server and host seemed distracted and not really attentive. My date did not finish his food. All in all fine, but just a little underwhelming.
Barrio is an excellent choice if you're looking for amazing drinks and probably the best nachos in capitol hill. The lighting is superb, with the entire space being lit by wall candles and low light from above. The general architecture is cozy yet surprisingly spacious and the crown piece of the room is most certainly the cracked marble countertops that adorn the bar, which is further accentuated by a rather large collection of both traditional and more contemporary modern tequilas. A 2 person dinner with drinks should run around 50-60 dollars, making it an excellent choice for either a first date or a just another night out on the town. If you skip this stop in Seattle, you will be sorely missing out.
We went for lunch on Halloween and had the place to ourselves. The food was delicious and abundant. We were very pleased - and the view of fun costumes strolling by were a highlight. The service was a little lackluster. It would seem that our server was in a hurry to be somewhere or just not excited that we weren't hipsters? You would think that he would take a little time (since he only had us to take care of) to talk about the menu, the restaurant, how our day was...it was Halloween, plenty to talk about! That was the only downer.
Food was delicious, flavors bright, ingredients fresh. Substantial portions. We went during Seattle Restaurant Week to try Barrio for the first time, and were not disappointed. Service was excellent - quick and responsive, but unobtrusive.
The food was delicious and our server was friendly. I was a bit disappointed however with the brunch menu as my friend and I chose two different entrees to only find out they were out of both items. Also we had come for Restaraunt Week and were told they did not offer that on the weekend. Overall though we did enjoy our loaded steak nachos and ambiance. Definitely will be back!
