Tacos are yummy and so are the margaritas. Great ambiance and good service. Will be back!
So. Freaking. Delicious.
I went to Barrio for lunch. I work downtown, and took a ride share to get there. And I will do it again. And plan a happy hour. It was that good.
The service was friendly, helpful, and fast, and they kept our water glasses filled. I went with a friend, and we ordered 2 separate 3 course meals so that we could share and try new things.
For the first course, we had mesa cakes and a chorizo empanada. (Please forgive any spelling mistakes - I'm spelling from memory.) The Mesa cakes were like deep-fried cubes of polenta, if you're not familiar. They had a wonderful sauce, and formed a large portion. Delicious. We also shared the empanada dish. The pastry was light and flaky. The filling was vibrant but not too spicy. The sauce and garnish was delicious. My only complaint is that the empanada is not a regular menu item.
For our main course, we had a burrito and chilaquiles. The burrito was large and a good burrito. You know what a good burrito tastes like. The chilaquiles. Holy crap. So good. Here's a description: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chilaquiles. Basically, they're Mexican nachos, but butter than any American nachos. Ever.
For dessert, we go the strawberries and creme popsicles, and the ice cream taco. The popsicles were good, but a little too icy. The cream and toasted nuts were a perfect topping. The taco was made from a waffle cone, but the kicker was the cinnamon whipped cream. I could eat that from a tub.
I'm definitely going back.
Excellent food and terrible service. Last friend to arrive waited 20-30 minutes for a drink that came after food and only after we asked twice. An industry friend who was in our party complained and the manager gave us a discount. I wonder if a discount would have been given otherwise.
My experience started out a bit shaky. I had a reservation at 7:15 and it took about 10 minutes to get us seated. Once we were seated it took another 10 minutes or so to get served and another 10 minutes to get our drink. I will say that the staff was apologetic and gave me a free order of chips and salsa. Beyond the wait, the food was great and I was happy to take a friend from out of town there for dinenr
Loud...food just okay...waitress was great and knowledgeable...uncomfortable seating
The food was average at best. I had the Fried Chicken Taco and it was so bland, I could not tell you what I was eating. I also had the Chicken Tortilla soup and it was thick and Salty. Most have a nice light broth but this almost tasted like a Chili. Another in our party had the Chicken Enchilada and it was so Spicy that she could not eat it. To many other great Mexican restaurants to go to other than Barrio.
The atmosphere was good, and the service started out strong however the service started lacking after we received our food
Barrio's has been one of my favorite restaurants for years. But this time it took a long time to get seated (even when at least half of the tables were empty) and our waiter seemed very inexperienced. First he had trouble opening a bottle of wine. Then he had everything (which we had thought would come as 3 courses) delivered at the same time. With such a tiny table everything just barely fit and my dinner was luke warm by the time I got to it. To his credit, he did give us free desserts. I'll give them another try sometime, but it might be a while.
I have been coming to Barrio for years and always enjoy it everytime
Will not be returning, as they have added a 20% Service Charge, of which a percentage does not go to the servers but goes directly back to the restaurant.
Service was stupendous! They even split the check for 7 people with entres being split and all! Cocktails were great and the ambiance is always a gem with candles everywhere.
Outstanding food and cocktails
As always, food was great - service as well!
I really enjoy the restaurant and will be a repeat customer
Our service here was great! She was very kind and attentive.
My friend and I ordered the chips and salsa, which he had the fresh tomato salsa, and I had the roasted jalapeno one. I HIGHLY recommend the jalapeno salsa! It was delicious.
As far as my tacos went, I ordered the prawn taco and the salmon taco. The prawn one was kind of cold and the prawns didn't taste as fresh as I was hoping. The salmon taco was really tasty, but unfortunately the salmon was obviously cooked for too long, as it was quite dry. The kitchen just must have had an off night, because usually their tacos are really fantastic!
My friend had the tinga de pollo, prawn, and the al pastor taco. He enjoyed all three of them!
Over all, I recommend Barrio. The staff are very kind and attentive, and just because my tacos weren't up to par this time, I know this isn't a common occurrence!
Loved the building and location- menu was amazing! The biggest let down was the noise level! I couldn’t hear the conversation being held at my table. I rushed through my meal to get out of the restaurant because it was so so loud. My poor waiter- amazing service- was having a hard time hearing my order!!
Great Salmon tacos, enjoyed the restaurant, ambience was fun and wait staff outstanding. Recommend
Came here for a birthday, and really wasn't inspired by their menu. In the past I've heard great things about Barrio, but it fell flat for me. The menu really only covered appetizers and individual tacos (that seems overpriced). There was a small section at the end for specialty items, but $18 seemed to be way too much for chicken enchiladas... I opted for the port taquitos, which were more flavorful than my (dry) chicken taco and lamb taco. For my drink, i ordered a blood orange margarita which was tasty, but for $12 I expected more than a short glass. Overall, seemed overpriced for mediocre food. There's much better places for the price elsewhere on Capitol Hill.
I just LOVE Barrio! I love that their menu & cocktails continue to evolve. I also love that you can describe the flavors of liquor you like to the bartender and they will customize something for you.
Great, warm, family-like staff and environment that lends itself to always meeting new friends!
Love this place!
My girlfriend is a recent transplant from Phoenix, and thought this was superb Mexican food, better than her favorite in Phoenix. The enchiladas were amazing. Guacamole had a hint of heat, no fillers. Chips and salsa were perfect. Cocktails were unusual and nicely done. Service was pleasant, and attentive without being intrusive. We'll definitely be back.
This restaurant was located close to our Airbnb and it was a good find. My friend did find two pieces of hair in her meal and they were VERY responsive. Took her meal, offered to make a new one, comp’d the mail and gave us a gift card to them or their sister restaurants. Good service otherwise.
Great food, good ambience one of my faves
Loved the ambience and the food was amazing.
The lighting was very weak and ended up using cellphone lights to read the menus. The food was delicious and varied enough for everyone to find something to suit them
I always make a reservation here and have been seated in the same cozy booth with my bf each time, which is nice. My only complaints are prices for salsa and chips- for their overall prices, shouldn’t salsa and chips be free?
The tacos are huge and always good. Small guac is $6. Bf is 6’2”/200#, so that is like 3 bites for him. Kind of a bummer. Service is always top notch, tho, and if slow due to being busy, they hustle later. The little booths behind the bar are cute and private and help with the noise level.
Great food and great service
It was so dim where we were. I also didn’t like the service. It was pretty rushed and rude.
We were very disappointed in this reservation experience. When we arrived, they did not have our changed reservation time in the system (I originally booked 7pm and changed to 5:30pm earlier that day). We showed the host our reservation confirmation email showing the time change from opentable and he said they still didn't have it in their system and he didn't have a table for us. He said they had no availability until 7pm (though they had at least 5 open 2 person tables that remained open the ENTIRE TIME we were there) and there was nothing he could do. He was very dismissive and offered us no solution and walked away to assist another guest. I approached him when he returned to the desk to ask to speak with a manager and he said that they had a no-show guest and if we waited a little while, we could be sat at their table. The way the host handled this situation was very dismissive, rude and very disappointing.
Went for a date night. Good ambiance and friendly, attentive wait staff. Food is good but NOT the best Mexican restaurant on the Hill.
Awesome fun atmosphere. Good food and great drinks. Bar looked like a great place to meet new friends!
This place was ssssoooo good! My friend and I were so happy with the food and drinks. All of the staff were so friendly with the right amount of attentiveness. Next time I am in Seattle, this will be my first stop.
I love Barrio but the noise levels did prevent conversation. It is, “exciting” but personally I’d prefer if they toned it down. We measured it at 88 decibels on an app.
Delicious, boozy cocktails, fabulous tacos, and wonderful waitstaff. This is a fab and fun restaurant. Highly recommend.
Service was just ok. Felt rushed between drinks, appetizers and mains and the building was rather empty.
Our waitress didn’t seem engaged. The menu has changed over the years, I was disappointed in the lack of entrees. The cocktail menu came off as gimmicky to me, who wants to spent a lot of time reading through a list of ingredients when you first sit at a table, I’d rather visit with my guests. Dinner and drinks for 3 with tip $175, I could have done better elsewhere for $125.
Overall the restaurant was great! This was our first time stopping by and enjoy brunch. The drinks were top notch! The salsa we bought was not very spicy, which was a let down. The food we ordered was well prepared. Our waitress was amazing! She was friendly and helpful.
Taquitos were the best thing we got!
We booked a table on a chance, and was very pleased. It was New Years Eve, and dinner turned out to be the best part of our evening :) Food was excellent, creative and delicious, staff was professional and onpoint. Thank you!
Always a great dining experience!
Disappointing meal at Barrio. We were a group of 7. None of the dishes ordered were particularly good. My carnitas dish was burnt. The trout dish my husband ordered was disappointing. Very loud corner table made conversation difficult.Waiter was friendly and good. The prices seemed high overall.
It was great
