Barrio - Capitol Hill
Our menu takes a modern approach to Mexican Cuisine, with an emphasis on fresh, seasonal ingredients. To deliver the highest possible quality, we make most of our ingredients on-site, from our fresh tomato salsas to our handmade tortillas to our slow-smoked pork.
Our cocktail and spirits program has been recognized as one of the strongest in the Puget Sound. In addition, we offer an excellent selection of beer and an array of wines (both by the glass and bottle).
We went for lunch and had truly abominable service. One waiter seemed like we were a bother. Eventually the bartender came over and took our order. Food was only so-so. We would not go back.
There was a table of like 20 rowdy men, but other than that- excellent. Still one of my favorite places.
Very friendly, if slow, service. Food was good.
In general the food was just okay.
Service and food was good. Automatic 20% surcharge that goes to the establishment not good (doesn’t go to the staff and doesn’t include tip).
We were able to make a pretty last minute reservation and when we arrived, we were seated right away. Our table was situated in a place where there was no lighting, so it was really dark and almost difficult to see each other and our food. We also both though the table was super high and the chairs really low, which just made us feel a little awkward at the table.
We had chips and salsa to start which were great - the chips were just the right thickness and the roasted jalepeno salsa was fantastic. For dinner, I had a couple of tacos (one pork al pastor and one shrimp) which were both delicious. They don't come with any sides or anything though, so paying $6-7 / taco seems a bit steep, but tasty enough that I didn't feel too bad about the price.
Our service felt mediocre at best - we felt like our waiter was grumpy that we didn't order drinks, but we had just come from a distillery tasting so really didn't need anything besides some water to hydrate. At the end of the meal he little walked by the table and tossed the bill and my credit card down as he zipped past on his way to another table without so much as a "have a nice night" It put a bit of a damper on an otherwise pretty good meal.
Great food, great service, and at reasonable prices! Our waiter spent the right amount of time with us advising on the menu and to top it off, brought my wife a free Creme Brule to celebrate her birthday. I really didn't want to leave afterwards...great experience!
I loved it, but was a little too dark honestly in the booths.
Loved it! Beautiful open air with great ambiance. Carnitas was perfect. The chicken taco was great as was the guacamole and margaritas. Chips were a little stale but great experience and would return. Great location
Great food and service. A lot of choices for vegetarians and fish lovers. Very tasty
Great service from Luis! Delish food and drinks:)
Thank you so much for the great review! Luis is a valued member of our team and we'll be sure to pass along your compliment to him. Be sure to stop in again while we offer 2 for 1 tacos on Wednesdays, all summer long! Cheers!
Excellent food and service.
Seattle restaurants really need to start posting at the beginning of the meal that there is a mandatory service charge. Leaving a required $20 tip for what amounted to someone bring me a few plates of nachos is not exactly fair for the consumer. Plus our food came way out of order so the service wasn't even worth the tip we paid.
Love Barrio, everytime I go it's awesome, food, environment, service, cocktails and the best michelada ever!
We have dined at Barrio many times but now their food seems to have slipped. Maybe it is just the new menu, maybe it is different management, but we'll probably enjoy other places in the neighborhood for now.
Food @Barrio is amazing as usual. But what's really outstanding is the service, these guys are so nice and accommodating.
Went for Happy Hour. Great drink prices for Cap Hill. Taco prices are in line. Everything else is way overpriced. HH is the way to go. Save your money for other elevated dining experiences. It’s Mexican fare after all.
The food was really good! Big restaurant. Pretty fun and good for a big group.
We came for drinks and dinner because we heard their margaritas were fabulous, which they were. The blood orange marg is amazing. The tacos were also fabulous! It was a pretty environment but very loud and service was lousy.
Everything was very good. Took a very long time to get our food and one of the dishes was forgotten, the restaurant was not busy for lunch at all so not sure why. I still like it and will come back.
Always a great time!! Great food, great drinks love this place!!
Nice spot for a fun night with good Mexican food. Go there to enjoy some enchiladas.
Loved visiting Barrio. Went with family and started with their blood orange margarita and nachos. Probably best nachos I've ever had. Afterwards, we had the chance to try many tacos but my favorites were the beer battered shrimp, pork, and chicken tinga. All in all great food, and will definitely be back!
Fantastic food and good shareable portions. Servers there are quick, and easygoing. My favorite restaurant in Seattle, it never disappoints.
The carnitas are fantastic
Nicholas was a wonderful waiter. Th8s otberwisr good place is too loud for 4 people to carry on a conversation together: this turns an otherwise fun place into I can't wait to get out of here.
We went on a Saturday afternoon, expecting either a lunch menu or a dinner menu. We were surprised to find that there is only a happy hour menu at that time of day. Reasonable number of selections but not what I had hoped for. Prices don’t seem low during happy hour. But the food was very good the service was more than adequate. I cannot say it was a good value but that just may be getting used to Seattle pricing
awesome ambiance and good food. pricey, but worth getting together with friends!
Food was awful. Our server seemed bothered to wait on us and every time she refilled our water glasses, she pour so mucb water on the table at one point i had to ask for her to wipe it up. Been to Barrio a couple of times but this will be the last time.
Went for breakfast. Had yummy burritos and a mimosa. Delicious!
I used to love Barrio but it has changed and not for the better. The hostess was rude and seemed to take offense when we asked to move to a different table because the sun was in our eyes. The menu has been significantly reduced. The charred corn was basically charcoal. Our waiter would vanish for long periods at a time.
We enjoyed this trendy and delicious Mexican restaurant. Interesting and different selections. The tacos were unique and very good.
Definitely try the pork belly taco. It is delicious!!
Great food and great experience however apparently the restaurant reported that we were a no show when in reality, we did show up for our reservation and dine that evening.
We loved dining at Barrio! Our server was very friendly and genuine. All of our food was amazing, the nachos are a must! It's especially great for summertime dining because of the garage-style exteriror they keep open during the warm months.
Great Food and Atmosphere!
Great! Food, service and ambience were all great. A fabulous place to dine with friends.
slow service. sad food. unfortunate experience compared to past visits.
Excellent food, excellent service. A great place to take out of town guests, but we go there even when we don’t have guests!!
It was just too loud in there for me to give you a good review. We had to yell at each other to be heard. Sorry.
