Barrio - Capitol Hill
Our menu takes a modern approach to Mexican Cuisine, with an emphasis on fresh, seasonal ingredients. To deliver the highest possible quality, we make most of our ingredients on-site, from our fresh tomato salsas to our handmade tortillas to our slow-smoked pork.
Our cocktail and spirits program has been recognized as one of the strongest in the Puget Sound. In addition, we offer an excellent selection of beer and an array of wines (both by the glass and bottle).
Another great time with good drinks, good food and good service. Always love dining at Barrio!
Great ambiance and wonderful food. Overall it was a good experience but the restaurant was so loud that it was difficult to have a conversation.
Great service, provided us a quiet business meeting booth. Food was great and the atmosphere was top notch.
My roommate and I went as an end of the week celebration and had a wonderful time! Unfortunately, we were sat next to a rather large party so the noise level was rather high but that is no fault to the restaurant. The food was excellent!
It was a little dark and a little expensive but overall a great / fun / delicious place and we will definitely be going back!
Love the candlelight and hip bar and atmosphere. Our waiter was excellent, even if he forgot our mezcal flight for awhile, since he mastered our complex and many orders very well. The noise level at happy hour was a bit deafening for some. Go after happy hour ends and it's lovely and lively! Food was very good, too much salt in the guacamole, though.
Shishito Peppers are the go-to for starters! With a frozé on the side ;)
Absolutely loved our visit to Barrio - our drinks were delicious - they made a classic marg with a spicy with (muddled jalapeños). We ordered the veggie enchiladas with green sauce and they were amazing along with the fresh quac to start. Definitely check out Barrio if you are in Seattle.
Food took nearly 90 minutes to come out, drink service was slow, and it was SO LOUD!
The server seemed as though we were bothering him with taking too long to order. I’ve worked in service and understand when you’re busy, but customer service goes a long way!
Food was good. Service was AWFUL.
Only thing I didn’t like was the 20% included tip. I usually tip more for good service, but I’d like it to be my choice.
I really like that Barrio has adapted their menu to cater to vegetarians and vegans. The market vegetable tacos with asparagus were outstanding. However, the noise level is extreme and I probably won’t be back for dinner on a Saturday night for that reason. Our small party of three was seated in a metal cylinder booth made for 6 or 8 people across from two parties of twelve—all yelling at each other so they could have a conversation. They completely drowned out the rest of the people in the restaurant, causing everyone else to yell just to have a conversation with the person sitting across from them. While the metal cylinder booths look nice, they make for lousy acoustics.
Barrio is great! The vibe, lighting and aesthetic is very nice. Unfortunately we were seated at a table for two that felt like "the hallway". People constantly walking back and forth, it was an odd place for a table, and to be honest, was disappointed to have been sat there. Otherwise, however - it's a great spot. Small Guacamole/chips to start and also asked for cucumbers on the side. Super crisp, chilled and plenty to go around. We ordered the Carne Asada and it was fantastic - along with the Chopped Salad. We shared both and it was plenty to eat. Both items were delicious and I would definitely order them both again. Cocktails were - I would recommend the blood orange margarita ... I thought it would be too sweet, and it wasn't. Nice and tart and tangy and they didn't skimp on the alcohol. Next time I would sit at the bar if there were two of us ... higher seating, good lighting, people watching ... and not sit in the thoroughfare of traffic. Would def recommend to friends and family.
Great food great service slow kitchen. Was compensated for the slow kitchen without even mentioning it which was nice.
For tacos to be $5-$7, they should be exceptional. These were not. We ordered every taco including the pork belly special but opted out of the vegan choices. The only standouts were the pork belly, rock fish, and chorizo (although the chorizo was wildly salty for me but my partner liked it). We also ordered nachos, which were a good portion size and good flavor. Don’t bother with their $3 (EACH) rice and beans as both lacked flavor. The service was also lackluster and inattentive though all the servers we interacted with were nice. My favorite part about the experience was the decór - very industrial. The atmosphere would be great without the college Becky’s and Chad’s that tend to group up and do shots of mezcal and scream for no apparent reason.
All that said, I’d go back on a less busy night to try to get a different experience and try other food options as well as I really want to like this place considering it’s so convenient to get to from where we live.
Thanks for another great dinner!
Brought my parents here who were visiting from out of state. They loved the food and the people watching!
We went for lunch and had truly abominable service. One waiter seemed like we were a bother. Eventually the bartender came over and took our order. Food was only so-so. We would not go back.
There was a table of like 20 rowdy men, but other than that- excellent. Still one of my favorite places.
Very friendly, if slow, service. Food was good.
In general the food was just okay.
Service and food was good. Automatic 20% surcharge that goes to the establishment not good (doesn’t go to the staff and doesn’t include tip).
We were able to make a pretty last minute reservation and when we arrived, we were seated right away. Our table was situated in a place where there was no lighting, so it was really dark and almost difficult to see each other and our food. We also both though the table was super high and the chairs really low, which just made us feel a little awkward at the table.
We had chips and salsa to start which were great - the chips were just the right thickness and the roasted jalepeno salsa was fantastic. For dinner, I had a couple of tacos (one pork al pastor and one shrimp) which were both delicious. They don't come with any sides or anything though, so paying $6-7 / taco seems a bit steep, but tasty enough that I didn't feel too bad about the price.
Our service felt mediocre at best - we felt like our waiter was grumpy that we didn't order drinks, but we had just come from a distillery tasting so really didn't need anything besides some water to hydrate. At the end of the meal he little walked by the table and tossed the bill and my credit card down as he zipped past on his way to another table without so much as a "have a nice night" It put a bit of a damper on an otherwise pretty good meal.
Great food, great service, and at reasonable prices! Our waiter spent the right amount of time with us advising on the menu and to top it off, brought my wife a free Creme Brule to celebrate her birthday. I really didn't want to leave afterwards...great experience!
I loved it, but was a little too dark honestly in the booths.
Loved it! Beautiful open air with great ambiance. Carnitas was perfect. The chicken taco was great as was the guacamole and margaritas. Chips were a little stale but great experience and would return. Great location
Great food and service. A lot of choices for vegetarians and fish lovers. Very tasty
Great service from Luis! Delish food and drinks:)
Thank you so much for the great review! Luis is a valued member of our team and we'll be sure to pass along your compliment to him. Be sure to stop in again while we offer 2 for 1 tacos on Wednesdays, all summer long! Cheers!
Excellent food and service.
Seattle restaurants really need to start posting at the beginning of the meal that there is a mandatory service charge. Leaving a required $20 tip for what amounted to someone bring me a few plates of nachos is not exactly fair for the consumer. Plus our food came way out of order so the service wasn't even worth the tip we paid.
Love Barrio, everytime I go it's awesome, food, environment, service, cocktails and the best michelada ever!
We have dined at Barrio many times but now their food seems to have slipped. Maybe it is just the new menu, maybe it is different management, but we'll probably enjoy other places in the neighborhood for now.
Food @Barrio is amazing as usual. But what's really outstanding is the service, these guys are so nice and accommodating.
Went for Happy Hour. Great drink prices for Cap Hill. Taco prices are in line. Everything else is way overpriced. HH is the way to go. Save your money for other elevated dining experiences. It’s Mexican fare after all.
The food was really good! Big restaurant. Pretty fun and good for a big group.
We came for drinks and dinner because we heard their margaritas were fabulous, which they were. The blood orange marg is amazing. The tacos were also fabulous! It was a pretty environment but very loud and service was lousy.
Everything was very good. Took a very long time to get our food and one of the dishes was forgotten, the restaurant was not busy for lunch at all so not sure why. I still like it and will come back.
Always a great time!! Great food, great drinks love this place!!
