Everything was great except the food could have been a bit better. Some of us thought the food was a little too salty. One of us had the hen and thought it was super boney. But the cocktails were fantastic!! I would definitely come back for the drinks and the appetizers, hands down. The atmosphere was great and the server was so helpful and delightful!
Went here because it was listed as quiet conversation. If you are the only people there sure you can have quiet conversation, but there were very loud people all around us and the noise carried badly - fun bartender and wait staff though
Very cool, small little place. Food is absolutely delicious - the entire party loved their meals. Vibe was laid back, servers had beautiful accents and while it was pretty noisy we could still have a nice candlelit conversation.
You can't beat the drinks and appetizers. We sampled several of each and they were all frrsh and flavorful. Had the salmon and pasta dishes for our meal which were modestly sized but just as delicious. Ordered the pineapple cocktail for 2 for dessert and shared it between 3 people. Won't change anything. Great ambience and lively to appropriately crowd on a Friday night.
We were a group of +15 women celebrating a friend. We had booked last minute for such a large group and the owner was especially accommodating. He proposed a set menu which was delicious and varied. I had the tagliatelle ad they were amazing. Although we had not paid for any deserts he surprised us with excellent churros and to top it off shooters for the group. The food was high quality, the service outstanding and the atmosphere top notch. We will be back.
People there were very nice, but it was unbelievably noisy on a Friday night. I chose the place only because it was tagged quiet on Open Table, but that was dead wrong--
Loved the menu for Valentines Day, would definitely come back to try regular one. Nice wine list.
We went here for Valentine's Day. The food was great, the server (I think he was also the manager?) was very attentive and friendly. The Valentine's Day menu was well thought out and perfect for the holiday. I've never been here except for V-Day, but while we were there the ambiance was quiet enough to talk but loud enough to not be overheard, which is a plus in my book.
Honestly the only suggestion I have is to get stools for the high-tops that have backs on them, but this is just a personal preference because I have a spinal cord disability and my back was hurting by the end of dinner. But I have no real complaints. We had a really good time.
They used to have the most delicious and juicy beef skewers and that was the reason I was going there, they were incredible. Now they removed it from the menu! I am super curious to know why.
Friendly staff, good food, and great wine.
It was my first time there and it was nothing fancy or impressive, just normal.
The food menu doesn't have many varieties, and the food was just okay to me. I think it's good for friends gathering or happy hour.
One of my favorite places to go for dinner with friends!!
Barrio 47 is a really cute, convenient spot in the west village. Had a really good ambience with plates my friends and I shared.
Went for New Years Eve and the food was decent but extremely overpriced for the value.
Just don't sit towards the back of the restaurant...very breezy!
Table was over 1 hour late!!!
On a rainy day back from Miami with absolutely no idea where I wanted to chow down in a city with nothing but options, I opted to finally test it out. After all, what was the worst that could go wrong? Let's just say, a month later and I have already frequented it about 4 times. I suppose it was love at first sight. It is all about consistency! Every time is just like the initial spark of going the very first time.
The menu is not vast, but they don't need it. In the Barrio they are very unpretentious, and what they do have, they make exceptionally. The food is without a doubt, one of the bigger reasons that I completely fell for this place, but the super-skilled bartenders who make some out-of-this-world cocktails are also a plus. However, what makes both myself and even friends and family who I have brought along to this little secret hole-in-the-wall stay, is the service, and my personal favorite waiter of all, Antoine. Great energy, laughs, and attentiveness is the secret. So I am sorry Barrio 47, you will have to keep me for life.
*** Shout-out to owner Alex Volland for making sure are visits are perfection!
What to Order:
* Grilled Salmon with Roasted Brussel Sprouts and Shaved Fennel Salad
* The Octopus with Quinoa Risotto
* Leg of Lamb
"The Raspado Mojito." This is definitely not your typical mojito. It is super colorful with a hint of passionfruit. I call this one a, "Happy-Ending."
The service was very charming and informative. Cocktails were interesting and tasty.
I did my research and I wanted to go somewhere different for Thanksgiving in New York City. I was attracted to Barrio 47 and called to make a reservation.
I was early, and asked when could I be seated. I could take a table or sit at the bar. I chose to make it easy and sat at the bar. I ordered a "Bramble Smith" initially. It was very delicious, but I wondered how much ice goes into a drink like that. During dinner, I ordered Sangria and I do wish I had ordered this for the first drink. No reflection on cost or taste; the Sangria was delicious.
My choices for Thanksgiving dinner here were quite traditional, and I was likely at an advantage being the first customer in for turkey. As appetizer, I ordered the braised short ribs, which were flawless, delicious and just the right temperature. A meal of these would be great.
I had their heritage turkey, stuffing and carmelized Brussels sprouts. Not adventurous, but a good comparison for what can be done. Everything was great: the turkey was moist, not
overcooked and becoming dry, the stuffing also moist and delicious with gravy and the Brussels sprouts exactly like I have cooked at home. Any chef could be proud.
For dessert, I choose their pumpkin pie, which was perfect for any homestyle meal.
Though Barrio 47 is French/Spanish in its style, I ordered something very traditional. The quality, service, taste were exceptional. I'd be prepared to order something else on their menu next time.
As I posted noise level was high where we were initially seated. The hosted was very accommodating and moved us to a quieter space. Service was excellent. Very attentive. Between the four of us the food ranked good to excellent.
I would return to Barrio 47 again.
