Barrel & Derrick at Marriott Odessa Conference Center
Vegas like atmosphere & Food. I can’t believe this place is in Odessa.
Very nice restaurant with 5 star capabilities.... a surprise find in Odessa. However the ambiance and decor can not make up for the 2 star service. The Kitchen does a very good job on preparation and presentation (worth the price tag) or it would be if it made it to the table remotely warm. The service is by far the worst. We waited at the front for 11 min before someone appeared to seat us. Only to have unskilled, untrained and truly unconcerned service. Barrel & Derrick has so much potential to be GREAT but as it is, it's just simply disappointing.
Great food, great Chef, could not ask for a better meal!!!!!! Would never expect this type of food in a hotel unless in Vegas. Who knew odessa would have this type of Hotel.
The food was absolutely amazing, I recommend the half bird!! Will and Archie were the best! Make sure Archie fixes you at least one drink while you're there!
Everything was good until I ordered my $89 steak medium
Rare and received a steak that was cooked well done. The staff was kind and attentive but the overcooked steak ruined my whole experience.
Beautiful, quiet environment with amazing food. So happy to have a place like this in Odessa!
Food was delicious. Restaurant is beautiful. My only critisism is to stop serving regular old Odesaa water--it does not taste good and for an upscale restaurant, I'd expect y'all to at least have a decent RO system.
My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary. Our waitress Anabella made it extra special with cheesecake and champagne. We returned for breakfast and had another good meal.
Everything was perfect!!
We are so thrilled you enjoyed your evening with us. Thank you for dining at Barrel & Derrick! We hope to see you again in the near future! Best, Liz Williams Manager of Food & Beverage
Great service. Food was very good. Overall experience was worth the cost. The hotel was top notch. I was very pleased.
Once we were seated we were not greated for at least 15 min. We ordered the tasting menu and we were disappointed. Food was cold and never received wine pairing. Wait staff wanted to blame the kitchen but seemed to be a front of house issue. To many reservations for a full menu and tasting menue in my opinion. Overall wish I had reason to come back but I don't.
While the food was excellent, the service was slow. We had a reservation, we’re told that the restaurant “was full” and we might have to wait 10 minutes (should be noted that there were several empty tables). 20 minutes later we went up to inquire and were eventually seated. The check in process is quite disorganized and there is no system in place for those checking in with a reservation and those without. If they fix this, would be much improved. It looked like no one had an assigned job. At one point the girl who was at the check-in desk, was pouring our water. At another point the girl who brought us our drinks was at the check-in desk. So much opportunity here!! We’ll be back, hopefully they’ll work out the kinks.
Service was way too slow. We wld go 30 minutes and not see our server. We were seated at 7:15 and did not leave until 9:40. Took 20 min to pick up ticket/credit card. Way too slow.
Over all a good experience!
The food was quite good but when we were brought to our table it was right by the band and we asked if we could be moved to a booth further away. We were told ‘no’ because there are other reservations. We too had reservations, but, we sat through our whole dinner and the whole time there were open booths. At no time, on Valentines Day(?), was there not two or more open tables, while we were there.
It was very loud because they did not move us. We had difficulty talking. It made the dinner less than the best I could have been.
Great food & service! Perfect addition to our Valentines Day evening :-)
I made a reservation for 5pm on Valentines day. We were seated promptly, however we were not even offered the Valentines day specials & the service was poor. Our waiter would disappear for 15-20 minutes at a time. Towards the end we informed him that we would like a dessert, he then brought us the menu & disappeared for 20 minutes, by the time he got back we had told him never mind. My food tasted fine but for the price it was a very small serving. My husband ordered the steak and for the price it was not a good cut. I might consider going back after they have been open longer. No one seemed to really know what they were doing there.
Beautiful place with good food. The service we received was not bad but not what I would have expected for Fine Dining.
Our server was not familiar with the menu. When asked what came with the Salmon he responded, "Some kind of greens - asparagus I think." (It was squash and zucchini which was fine)
We then waited close to 30 minutes before receiving our $13.00 cocktails but did not have time to enjoy them before the salads arrived just a few minutes later.
Likewise the main courses came before finishing even half of my salad (and the table was too small to support all these dishes). Had to request water and wait for our check.
Some improvements, are needed and I expect will come. We will certainly return.
A good ribeye steak that is less than 22 oz and $89.00 would be a nice addition as well.
The meal was wonderful. Food is excellent. Drinks are creative and tasty. Only issue is we sat awkwardly for over ten minutes while the staff figured out who’s table we were. I would expect more considering we had a reservation. But after that glitch was fixed the rest of the evening was lovely!
Delicious red snapper and broccocini with almonds. Good mix drink. It was quiet when my girlfriend and I visited on Saturday.
Christmas Day buffet
Not inexpensive but worth the price in excellent food, service and atmosphere. You can actually have a normal dinner conversation without having to SHOUT at your companions. Will definitely return many times.
They didn’t have my reservation because they didn’t have an iPad....
Had to show on my phone.
Training is still needed-desperately
Too many loose ends
Salads were good. Flatbread pizza very good. Chicken fry was greasy and over cooked. Roast chicken tasted like it was old.
The restaurant looks very nice and modern. Unfortunately the food was not good. It was so salty. I can understand one dish but the snapper, broccolini, chips and dip were not good at all and for the price we are spending we expect better. It's a new restaurant so hopefully they work on correcting it because the place looks amazing.
Food was great. The steaks were cooked as we ordered. The waitstaff was attentive and the service was good. They were out of the original wine we wanted but the second choice was just as good. The “extras” from the chef were a nice touch too. Will definitely go back again.
Service was absolutely the worst we’ve ever seen. Took us 30 minutes to get drinks. Also, on e guy with us ordered an old fashioned and the server brought him a glass of plain whiskey. It was obvious the bar tender didn’t even know how to make an old fashioned so why not tell us that up front. They’ve only been open 3 weeks so hopefully they’ll get things turned around because the food is quite good.
They did not have my reservation but there was no problem as there were only a few diners. I requested burger “well done” & part of the meat looked raw. My complaint to the waiter was not addressed by management or the chef. A lovely setting but the meal was terrible. Very disappointing.
41st Wedding Anniversary. Great Ambiance! Good Food at Reasonable prices.
Great menu, modern décor, great service, came for dinner and now want to go for breakfast and lunch!
Great food. Beautiful decor. Service was slow but they just recently opened so are ironing out wrinkles. The hotel is amazing.
