Barrel & Boar - Westerville
Nice atmosphere, comfy chairs and good food. Ribs are meaty!
Excellent service and food. Very noisy.
Went first time last Saturday. First, they accept reservations, which is great. Second, food was really good. Make meal out of two appetizers: burnt ends and hush puppies, plus split a salad with my wife. All were excellent! Salad was huge and a great value at $8 for size. Rest was reasonably priced and well worth it for quality of food. We went back Thursday after for 614 Burger Week. Again, it was excellent. We will definitely add this place to our restaurant rotation.
I drive by this restaurant all the time and think I'll stop in and try it, then forget about it. Luckily, I pulled up OpenTable and put Westerville/Columbus in for my location and day and time and this was populated as a suggestion and/or opening. I couldn't be more happily surprised at the ambience, quality of food, promptness of staff, etc. Half of our party ordered the Sunday brunch and the other half made different selections. ALL were absolutely FANTASTIC!!! Thanks for the superb time that we thoroughly enjoyed - and I can't wait to go back...Soon!
Nice atmosphere, good food and service was excellent.
It was a family birthday dinner
This was our first visit. Great food, great service, and great location! Definitely will be back!
Our service was really slow and our food was delivered to our table cold. I think the food would have been great had it been warm.
Our waiter was very attentive welcoming us and taking our drinks order. We had one more person to join us and he started taking our order for food. I asked him to wait until the last person arrived to complete our party of 9 and he disregarded my request and kept taking orders. It was a bit odd. Even my husband asked him to wait a few minutes and he continued to ask us what we wanted to order. Two people got their food and the rest of the food did not arrive. I could see it all plated and under the food warmers but our waiter was MIA. After about 10 minutes our waiter came out and delivered another tables food. He looked at our table perplexed and then went and delivered our meals. After we received our food he never came back to ask if we needed anything else or how our meals were. Finally he reappeared and refilled our water after we asked him to do so. Our food was good but I feel like the service was off. It was as though the staff was more interested in closing down the restaurant than being attentive of the people while it was open. It was not a busy night and they should have been appreciative of 9 people eating and drinking there at the time.
We found this place when we took my daughter to her college orientation. It is our go to when we are in Westerville! My daughter loves their BBQ and the smoked wings are fabulous!
Good food - but was not very hot. Good service - friendly, attentive, helpful
Five people in the party. Hearing everyone was a bit of a challenge. Food was very tasty. Beef burnt tips were extremely juicy and flavorful. I had the burger and it was exceptions. Full of delicious flavors. Well definitely return
This experience was a lot better than our first experience. Food was hot and good overall. I asked for a spicy margarita and they fixed it. I wanted it spicier and asked for habanero sauce and the waitress did bring me something comparable. You should add this drink to your menu. It would work with muddled fresh jalapeños put in a shaker worth the tequila and mix! Good overall!
Nice re-use of space in an old theater. A little noisy and it was not real crowded on a holiday summer weekend. May be very noisy when busy. Menu was large and varied. We each got a different smoked meat entre and all good. The brisket was a little dry but well seasoned and flavorful. We also had a really good loaded chips appetizer that could have been shared by more people than the 3 of us, but we ate the whole thing! Had a very good smoky old fashioned from the bar.
This is an outstanding local establishment. The food and service was sooo good. Parking was easy to access as well considering the recent road work and time of day.
The ribs while value priced were mediocre in flavor. The roasted brussel sprouts were not crisp or roasted but looked like ther were briefly microwaved and were half done. The dessert was the Atlantic Pie, but the flavor was not consistent throughout and the crust was hard.
My server never asked if I liked me food, he didn't ask if I wanted anything else, or to refill my drink and gave me my bill before I was finished with the meal. The restaurant was not full so he was not too busy.
The ambience of the restaurant was nice.
Everything was great. However my husband had the burnt ends and when finished eating, he had quite a pile of fat that he removed. But all else was delicious.
Great food and service for our party of 13. Thanks for a great family gathering.
First time at BnB for lunch. Had the box lunch with 2 sides. Perfect for lunch portion. Met client there and worked out very well for a business lunch. Will certainly return.
Ribs were amazing. Loved the sauce choices. Sweet and Smokey was my favorite.
The food was cold and portions of meat was very small. The server was ok but then took my plate before I was finished. We were seated close to the kitchen and 2 servers were arguing. Not the experience I expected.
Wanted to like this place as it was in a cool spot but there were too many things that didn’t go well. It’s got a cool atmosphere being in an old theater.
Context: we were celebrating my wife’s birthday on a Sunday dinner
1. It was hot in the restaurant, too hot to be comfortable for a 90 minute dinner. It was warm enough where the family was making comments and talking about it after
2. Only had one server (albeit one hard working guy) for the whole restaurant so things were slow and things got missed (messed up drink orders, slow refilling glasses, etc)
3. Food didn’t wow. City BBQ was much better than here. Ribs came out cold. Fried okra was flavorless and chewy. Burnt ends weren’t really burnt ends but just pieces of brisket. Just not something to write home about
4. Lack of BBQ knowledge - this is a small knock as not everyone is going to be as into smoking meat but I would have expected some basic knowledge of the product. Server didn’t know the difference between the point (aka fatty) and flat (aka lean) of the brisket. Server said ribs were baby back but they were not. Server said that ribs were smoked for 2 days...ha just not a thing with Ribs.
5. Ribs were a dollar a bone on Sundays though not advertised on the menu. Not a bad deal but ours weren’t warm.
6. Cocktails were a little expensive, in my opinion, for a BBQ joint
Another positive note, I have a Graeters Ice cream across the street.
Might give it another shot on another night but not for a while.
The atmosphere was very lively yet quiet enough to have a conversation without raising your voice. Service was reasonable considering the amount of people dining in the restaurant. Food was amazing!!!
The restaurant has a great vibe! Love the decor! Our waitress was not very good. Had to ask for a drink menu, bbq sauce and she did not go over the specials or the restaurant week deal! We had to ask another waitress to fill up my water glass! She kept walking by our table and didn’t ask if we needed anything nor did she clear plates! You are paying for the decor as the food is overpriced. Some of My ribs were over cooked! It took some time to get our food considering I’m sure our ribs and brisket were already prepared earlier and the sides! We sat near the kitchen and watched as food sat in the window for some time before a waitress picked it up to take it to a table. It was not busy they need to work on the wait staff and quality of food! Shouldn’t service burnt ribs!
MoeThom, I am sorry to hear that you did not have a great experience with us. To be truthful with you, restaurant week caught up with us on the last day, and that was not one of our better nights and I'm sorry you had to be part of it. I would like to offer you a gift certificate and a chance prove that was an off night for us if you're willing to give us another chance.
Better experience this time. Band is too loud for such a confined place. Maybe better after dinner hour
Ribs were outstanding. Dessert excellent. Love the decor
The ribs were good, but I was disappointed with the wings. It said they were smoked, but I thing they put them in the deep fryer after and it made the wing dry.
My first time there and I will go again. Our server was very friendly, knowledgeable about foods, answered our questions and checked to see if all wS ok a couple times. Serving sizes were very generous. An enjoyable evening.
This is the best BBQ I think I've ever had! Service and scene is amazing as well. Definitely will be going back here and recommend to everyone!
Good good. Music was really loud
Great bbq, but very noisy.
Food was wonderful!
Food was okay. Menu limited. For a nice dark venue it was very noisy. Service was great!
We had a great server who made excellent recommendations for our meals and drinks! Beautiful building/decor. We don't live close to frequent this restaurant, but we always make a stop when we are in the area!
Food was fantastic, and our waitress was really great! Cute and different atmosphere.
We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back. We had a reservation and were early, but they had the table ready and sat us. Food is always great and no complaints about the service. Highly recommend.
The restaurant is fantastic. The food was delicious. Our waiter was very good and the overall staff was very friendly. I will definitely return to that restaurant.
Love this place. Cornbread is delicious. Highly recommend.
Our waiter was very good. Attentive when needed. He knew when to stop by our table. Very nice ambiance.
We've been to Barrel & Boar many times in Westerville, and all have been great experiences. Staff is always super friendly and food is terrific!
