Barrel & Boar - Westerville
Visit was nice. However the hostess that greeted us was a little rude and stand offish.
The place was amazing! Food, decor, and service. I’ll be going back again for sure.
We love Barrel and Boar! It was a little busier than we have seen it so the service was a little slower but the food quality and taste definitely made up for it. Our server cracked some jokes with us too. We will be back.
Great food and great service. My burger was delightful!
Good food. Server was a little odd since she kept thanking us for coming 4 times during our meal. Like she was shocked people came in and stayed or something. Food was good. Plenty of food including left overs. I got the rib tips and it comes with 2 sides. Now if you like spare ribs you will enjoy this place. I prefer baby back but they were still good and not too pricey for what you get.
No-too expensive for the food portions, too busy, and despite great cocktails-otherwise just average
Love the atmosphere of the restaurant. Food was just ok. Had the sampler platter with smoked turkey, brisket and pork. They were a just ok. The sides needed some help. Mac and cheese wasn’t really cheesy and the corn bread was a crumble. The salad was delicious. Very fresh and loved the cornbread croutons.
I really hate to leave a negative review, but this worth mentioning. I was really disappointed in our experience this past weekend. We came here last year (2018) for my birthday and had PHENOMENAL service and food. This year was a HUGE let down. Our reservation was at 6:15 and they had already sold out of Ribs (delicious btw) and we're our of half of the beers on tap. My boyfriend's brisket was cold when it came out and the chicken I had was dry. The server we had was great, he was tentative to our needs but unfortunately he had accidentally dropped all the plates of food he was holding into my sister's purse. We had a good laugh about it and he was appologetic but I would think that a discount on her bill would have been more than reasonable. Not offered. Not sure what has changed so much within a year but I will give it a try again- maybe just not for an event.
The food and the service was great. The only thing I would change is make it more of a relaxing atmosphere. It almost felt like a cafeteria with the seating. The chairs were very comfortable but on wheels.
Great food, drinks and service. The space is incredible and very well done. We've been to other Barrel and Boar locations and have never been disappointed but this one is by far the best food and space. It's their best store by far.
The food was amazing. While the prices may seem a bit high at first, you definitely get your money’s worth in both quality and quantity with large portion sizes.
Went with a friend on a weeknight. Hush puppies were pretty a pretty solid start and easy to share between us. They might stretch to 3 adults depending on how hungry everyone is. I got the crab cake entree: I would say the crab cakes & accompanying potato cake were an 8/10. I wish they had been served with an aioli rather than a mustard-based sauce, but that's just my preference. My friend got smoked kielbasa, which was delicious. As sides, I swapped in the sausage grits (perfect texture - not runny, good flavor, nice 1/2 slices of kielbasa) and she got spicy macaroni & cheese (spectacular) and cole slaw, which was so good she refused to share. We had the seasonal (apple) bread pudding & raspberry cobbler for dessert (comes a la mode). The bread pudding was a perfect serving size for 1 and tasted like a warm hug. The cobbler was also tasty, but I wish there had been a bit more pastry to go with all the filling. Probably enough to share given the size of the entrees.
There was live music that night and it totally enhanced the ambiance (which is both comfortable and cool at the same time) without drowning out our conversation.
We both look forward to going back to work our way through the menu.
I got the pulled pork platter with sweet potato fries & the chef's veggie (brussel sprouts) to go for my husband. He had to reheat it (because I took so long) and I didn't get a chance to ask him how it was before he had crushed it. He's excited to check this place out for himself.
Service was quick and friendly. Food was amazing. I got the June brunch and had an extra full serving for dinner, it was a lot of food. I will defiantly be coming back.
Really good experience! Smoked old fashioned was on point as were the appetizers and main dishes. Really good dessert and pleasant service. Will return!
Very Pleased with our overall experience. I had the brisket and my wife had their boar burger. Both were done to our satisfaction. The sauces for my brisket were very flavorful and different, not like some places where everything tastes the same. Our server was attentive without being pushy. Look forward to coming back again.
Food was delicious. Nice atmosphere. I would recommend and go back
Excellent brisket and ribs tips. BTW... how can you argue with "Buck A Bone" Sunday??? Greens are sweet and delicious and the fried okra crunchy. Going back on Thursday for Blues Night.
Great food in a cool environment
Great food and value and comfortable seating... a little noisy tho as the BAR is in the middle of all the regular seating.
Good food. Questionable service. Very poor response from owner. Probably find a different Barrel and Boar, maybe Gahanna.
Invited our Upper Arlington friends out to dinner and chose Uptown Westerville for a change of pace. B&B did not disappoint! Awesome bbq, and clever presentation of side dishes. A real"vibe" in the Ville last Sat. night!!
The worst experience in dining. Ran out of food and what they did have was served cold. effort was a bare minimum and did not care about the lack of quality
Great atmosphere and bar area. Ribs and spicy mac and cheese were very good.
I had a great experience. Food was really good and staff was friendly.
We were able to get in on Valentine's Day and were given a white rose, so nice. Food was good and atmosphere was different but good. Liked the open kitchen.
The food and service were great -but for some reason they were having trouble with fruit flies! So it became quite annoying during our meal with six other friends!
We were excited to try Barrel and Boar. Such a cool building and food sounded great. Our server was pleasant and the food was ok. There were gnats bothering us the entire time we were there. It was hard to even focus on a conversation. Very unappealing.
Great food and service. Welcoming atmosphere, even family friendly during the early evening hours we went. Very pleased.
Great food as always
The meat (brisket) had quite a bit of fat on it and the portion size was small for the price. One order came out cold but was promptly redone and was nice and hot. Waiter wasn't very friendly. Maybe just a bad day for him. We had a much better experience at the Gahanna location.
Bar area is nice. Brisket is good. Large portions. Gnats swarm all around and on your food if you are seated next to a barrel. When we mentioned it, the manager said "Yeah, we know, they come from the barrels." They seemed bothered that we would care about gnats on our food.
Enjoyed the evening, our server was very attentive to our needs. Food and drinks were all high quality, and served quickly. Told our server it was my birthday and he was very accommodating!
My only critical marks come from happy hour only being available at the bar and not at the other tables, we spent dollars on food and would have liked to receive the happy hour discounts.
It was noisy as the evening progressed, understanding more people is more noise, but at times difficult to have conversations at our table.
The ambiance is amazing from the big marquee to the huge bar and open kitchen, only to be topped by the food. All the bbq essentials and sides with a skillet bacon brownie for dessert.
The food was good overall. The waiter went out of his way to find a rack of ribs after he thought they were out of them. Everything else was great, except the pulled pork was a little fatty this time.
Food was good. Service was good. The place was in a very cool repurposed old movie theater. We would be back.Tuesdays look especially inviting with kids eat free and all you can tacos.
Delayed holiday dinner w friends
Ok, so it was Restaurant Week. I have come to expect not quite fantastic for the most part. So I didn't order from the Restaurant Week menu as my dining companion did. Maybe I should have. I ordered one of the salads with brisket added and the brussel sprouts as an appetizer. And how can you pass up s'mores bread pudding for dessert? My friend had the hush puppies and burger along with one of the Restaurant Week dessert choices. The salad wasn't anything to write home about, it was a large portion but nothing out of the ordinary. The brisket was good, juicy, not overcooked but far from smoke ringed tastiness.
The waitstaff was attentive but scattered. Our drinks went empty for a good while before we were checked on. And again, I'll give them a small pass for RW but still; staff appropriately.
I didn't hear any complaints about the burger, and the fries were good. Dessert was probably the best part of the meal.
Two major issues I had with only one actually having to do with the food. Well, something wasn't right about something I ate because it surely didn't stay down. Being the case, I probably won't be back. Besides that the door to the accessible bathroom in the women's stall does not lock, and someone walked in on me despite my warning. When I brought it to someone's attention I was told, "we'll take care of it." Hmmm.
This place is rated well, I’d say it was good, but not great. My brisket was very good, but the sides and apps were average. One side didn’t show up until our meal was almost over. One of my cocktails was outstanding (smoked Old Fashioned” and the other wasn’t. Our server was nice, but not attentive. Overall, OK - but not at the top of my list.
Visited during Restaurant Week. Had the pork chop and it was delicious. Very nice to have a restaurant of this quality and high standard here in Westerville.
Various members of my family have visited B&B in Westerville several times - Ages 9 thru 75, some lovers of BBQ, and some not so much, but everyone, every time, has been really pleased with their meal. It has become my go-to place for a special meal out. And the servers are consistently helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. (Thanks for taking a great family photo!) Already looking forward to our next visit!
