Barrel & Boar- Gahanna
Shrimp and Grits
Shrimp, cheddar sausage grits, creole cream sauce
Awesome experience in Gahanna. Whether you are just stopping by for a bite or out for a nice evening, barrel and boar does it right with gluten-free options for all.
The brisket cannot be beat! Their menu has been changed a little, and while we used to split a sampler between my husband and I, we had less choices this time. Their meat is still exceptional, and the atmosphere in the patio alone is worth the trip. I am very disappointed that they no longer offer the fried okra, which was the main reason I loved this restaurant, and the french onion soup was quite sweet, so it wasn't to my liking. If you're a fan of bbq, this place definitely does not dissappoint!
Great place to eat outside around the firepit. Very good BBQ
Great food and friendly staff. We really enjoyed dining there.
Great evening with my teenage daughter and son at B&B outside next to the fireplace. Waitress was A+, food pretty good (waffle too sweet but great idea) and tacos were fab. Good beer on tap!
Great food cute patio
The food was very tasty. Portion size for the money was disparate. Martini was an exact 3 ounce pour. Service was good. Friendly. Atmosphere is great. Would definitely go again but would probably stick with appetizers or sandwiches for the value. Beautiful location.
It was our first time and we really enjoyed the amazing service, flavorful food and awesome background music!
I liked the beef brisket but the amount was not enough.
Great spot for dining out. We sat outside and the atmosphere was perfect. The music was upbeat and the service was outstanding. Our dinner arrived very quickly after we ordered. This is a place the whole family will enjoy!
We both ordered a salad and The waitress asked if we wanted croutons and we both said yes. It’s not a big deal, but when the bill came, we found out there was an up charge that we did not know about. The croutons were quite tasty! We each ordered a barbecue sandwich which was quite tasty. The waitress brought the sandwiches up first, and then almost immediately after brought the salads. This was lunchtime and we expected we would get the salads first.
These are minor issues, the setting is lovely especially sitting outside by the fountains and the food quality was very good and very tasty
It was a spur of the moment decision to eat out and we happened upon this restaurant that we had only ordered delivery from and it was really nice in there. Great food and the service was the best we’ve had in Columbus. And I’ve lived here 45 years.
Everything is always so good there, but the ribs are very hit or miss. The flavor is outstanding so I keep giving them a chance, but the quality of the meet is inconsistent. If you order 6 ribs often two are uneatable, two are perfect, and two have a bite or maybe two that is good. Just very fatty so some pieces the whole rib is just fat and no meat. They also took the grits off the side menu, which were our favorites so that was disappointing. On the plus side, always great service, great drinks, and nice outdoor atmosphere. Will certainly be back.
My bbw salad was brought out with no BBQ ranch (hence why it is a BBQ salad...) dressing. I added a protein of shrimp for my bbq salad (extra 7.99) and was brought 4 small shrimp. I could buy a pound of shrimp from Kroger for $9.99. The roasted Brussels were excellent, they were the highlight.
We only had to wait 10 minutes to get outdoor seating. Food was great as always; service was very good. Music was a little loud for conversation (yes I am old). And the menu we browsed on Open Table before going was old - none of the items we wanted from it were still available 😕
We really enjoyed the atmosphere and thought the menu was extensive enough to satisfy everyone. The beer menu was just ok, but the rest of the house was great. The Ribs, Shrimp and Grits and the GF Pizza were big hits.
I was looking forward to having dinner at a real barbecue restaurant but was very disappointed in the quality of the food. I ordered brisket with a side of mac & cheese with coleslaw. The brisket came out in five or six narrow strips looking more like bacon that was very thin and half fat. I was reminded of the old commercial where’s the beef?
My wife had a salad with brisket on it that also was mostly fat. Our daughter enjoyed her barbecue ribs and our son enjoyed the bowl of mac & cheese topped with brisket which he said was good.
Clean areas and a great selection of food and drink menu
Delicious brunch! We enjoyed our meal on the patio and felt that the staff was taking the proper precautions for COVID.
Always good food
Glad they’re open
Place is very nice place, I sat outdoors so it was really good view and time with my wife. But most importante the employees are super nice. I was not specking an amazing food, but it was really good.
Our service was amazing. With everything going on with COVID, everyone was wearing masks and sanitized frequently. I felt safe and the food was incredible!
Our experience was good! We really missed the music though...
I have never had a meal that was bad here. Everything on the menu is just as good as your favorite dish. The BBQ Mac and Cheese is a killer.
The service was great! The food and drinks were amazing! The patio view was beautiful! Will definitely go again!
Do not like the new menu - everything a la cart
This was our first time back and it was even better than before! Amanda was amazing!!!!!
We had a nice dining experience outside. The food was delicious. We felt very comfortable dining there. All the employees wore their masks and tables were appropriately distanced.
My lunch here was great! Picked the table that I wanted near the railing. Was able to view the creek and watch paddle boats go down the old mill race. Love the ambience.
We were seated immediately upon arrival....outside on the patio. Tables were sufficiently spaced for social distancing. All employees were wearing masks which was much appreciated. Our server was very attentive and quite pleasant. This was our first venture back into dining out and it was very enjoyable.
This is the go to spot for our family. Nice patio- great servers, amazing cocktails, and good food.
The patio was nice, the tables were well separated and all the waitstaff had face coverings. The portions have definitely gotten smaller, as has the menu options. We were sorry that the chips and beans are no longer part of the menu. I order the smoked wings and they were very small in size, though tasted fine. Someone else in the party ordered the BBQ Mac & Cheese and the serving size was better and she enjoyed it. The sides were also pretty skimpy, barely filling the small glass jars. The bright side of the meal was that our server was friendly and attentive.
Chicken was very dry
We enjoyed our meals but the restaurant is in need of an update.
Love this place ! Great food!
The menu has been changed. Nothing that we light is now on the menu. We had the special of crabcakes and French onion soup. The food was barely edible. My Mojito had more seltzer water than rum. My wife’s old fashion drink was barely drinkable. This used to be one of our favorite restaurants. We will probably never go back.
They were out of half of the menu. No ribs, no pulled chicken. Ordered brisket slim strips looked like beef bacon. Large sections of slimy fat on each slice. Not good. Hope it improves as all restaurants open up.
It was great to be able to get out and eat again and it not be a carry out meal.
My waiter energy was amazing and a great first experience since the quarantine is over. Presentation of the food was great and good clean environment.
