The great, lively BBQ joint that the Valley desperately needed.
Great location and outstanding food and beer selection
Great bbq! True bbq done with a wood smoker. Chicken was outstanding along with the bbq beans. Baby back ribs were wonderful. Great service! LA has lost all our bbq restaurants, finally we got a great bbq in our backyard. Great bar with hand crafted beers.
“Healthy LA 3%” tax?
We didn’t know about it till bill arrived!
Incredible experience! Waitress was kidding and and helpful. This is a place you don’t want to miss.
Amazing ribs that are worth a horrible drive from south Orange County and beyond. Every side was great and the Hoe Cake was fantastic. Service was great. I wouldn't change a thing and the only time I ever had the feeling that I wouldn't change a thing.
Service was great! Space is cool. Food is alright! All the meat was super good, but the sides were really disappointing.
Food was delicious! Service was quick and friendly! Clean and enjoyable setting.
Excellent Kansas City style BBQ. I had ribs that were great, my partner had a combo plate with hot links, brisket and ribs. Great mixology. One of the best Perfect Manhattans in a real crystal highball glass! We sat outside and could still hear the music which was a bit loud for me from the inside. Great neighborhood place.
Went here on a Sunday evening and sadly they had “run out of” Tri-Tip and shrimp. Service on our drinks, especially the second round, was terribly slow though they did comp a late drink. Portions are small.
This place is all hype! We saw it featured on “Worth It” and they lied. The Hoe Cake was delicious but truly most food you make with a stick of butter can be.
We got the fried pickles and pork rinds which were pretty good so we anticipated the main course to be great too. We were mistaken.
The ribs were not tender, the collard greens were deplorable, the candied yams were very weird as they didn’t use the right spices to enhance the warmth and sweetness of the yams and they thought the marshmallows would do the trick (amateur move), and the Mac and cheese were ok considering the rest of the meal.
Unfortunately, the chef doesn’t ACTUALLY know how to do bbq/southern food and charges a premium for his lack of knowledge. I read the poor reviews on yelp and decided I’d go anyway. Don’t make my mistake!
Had the fried pickles, rib tips, brisket, spare ribs, slaw, beans, and last but not least the hoe cakes. Everything was great except for the rib tips (they were ok but wouldn’t order again), but the moist, smoky, mouth-watering brisket stole the show.
Always have a great time there. Slaw, ribs, beans and pulled pork are the most. Drinks are delicious too.
LOVED the ribs! And the Mimosas were pretty generous, no need for 'bottomless'! haha
It did take about 25 minutes before food came out, which is the only reason I gave 'service' a grade of 3 stars.
First time, pleasant staff, amazing food, good kick to the sauces. Highly recommended.
Great place. Great food and drink. Noise level bit OTT
The food was fantastic, especially the Brisket. We were there for my birthday, so when they sat us at a half booth, half table and the booth seat was too high (like lap pressed up against the bottom of the table too high) and we wanted to move, they were very accommodating.
The service was good, not great. We weren't checked on throughout the meal and the server was slightly bossy, like "Hand your plate" bossy. Maybe that's the style of the restaurant?
At any rate, we'll be back because the food was great.
This was pretty good food, better than most BBQ in Los Angeles. The place is brightly lit with several big TV screens, and it's very loud because of the tile-covered walls, which creates an ambiance like a mashup between a sports bar and a medical clinic, but the food is fine and the portions are just right. Unlike many other BBQ joints, the side dishes are excellent, too, especially the cole slaw and the mac n cheese. For mains, the chicken, pulled pork and brisket are all delicious. I liked it fine and felt like it was fairly priced.
Clay, our server, was excellent!
The ribs with sauce on the side were outstanding. All the rest were very good and provided a nice change from other Valley establishments.
The hoe cake was awesome! My parents loved the baby back ribs, the Berry White was delicious, and the dessert special was pretty tasty too. Not too loud and standard service.
It was Valentines Day. Friendly and attentive service. Food was absolutely delicious. Atmosphere was warm, energetic and comfortable. Great experience!
Been there several times for brunch only. Love the hoe cake, Frito pie and Chicken Biscuit sandwich. Coleslaw was just ok. Service was good.
We had great service they were attentive but courteous enough to let us conduct are business. Good food only had ice tea but would go back to try some of their signature drinks they have on the menu
When your Mom is not around to cook you some comfort food, this is the next best thing. Authentic in presentation, seasoning and scope, this is a great place to go without having to wade through masses of crowds for a wonderful evening with friends!
The staff is incredibly kind and courteous, excellent service and food!
Disappointed . We hoped for something so much better. It was just okay. The corn cake was the best thing.
I really liked the brisket, collard greens, & sweet potatoes! My husband was disappointed with the baby back ribs. They could have been better cooked. It’s a small, organized, attractive place. It got noisy quick.
The chicken was unbearably tough; the potato salad was NOT enhanced by the wasabi. The service was slow, but friendly. The noise was not "energetic" but annoyingly loud and intrusive. Wine list non-existent.
Good food, tasty cocktails. Cool vibe but it had sports games on, so it was a mixed ambiance. The food and drinks (and prices) seemed to convey a higher end dining experience, but it also had a casual atmosphere of a bbq place/sports bar. I didnt mind the mix. Quarter-pound portions of meat are small- get at least the half pound if you’re hungry. The hoe cake was fine, but the green beans almondine and Tri-til were delicious!
I had 3 drinks- old fashioned was the best. Their bourbon prices are too high though.
Great bbq spot with excellent draft beer selection. The "Best Damn Chicken Sandwich Ever" lives up to its name!
Great food- best BBQ we have had in LA. We will be back very soon for some more!!
Great place and location for a BBQ dinner! The Hoecake is worth the anticipation!
Disappointed compared to our previous experience. Pulled pork undercooked and green beans very salty. Waitress informed us they were under new management. That could explain the difference in service and food quality. Undecided if we will return. Pig in barrel absent from their new shirts.
Not really a date place. The food was good. Service a bit slow. The value; a little pricey for what you get. Would go back.
Alcohol is very expensive
Great food. Always order a full rack of ribs, they fall right off the bone! Found off buzzfeed and was not disappointed.
Ribs - Amazing.
Brisket - So so. Needs sauce.
Mac and Cheese - Nope don't do it.
Fried Pickles - Amazing.
Hoe Cake - If you love corn bread, buy this.
Fries - Overpriced but good.
Cheese Curds - Also fantastic.
Great food and awesome drinks!
Awful from the moment we pulled up to the $6.50 rip off valet. Service literally non existent. Food not even mediocre. Would never ever go back and would like my money back. Utter disappointment.
We were excited to bring 2 of our friends that we’d told about Barrel & Ashes a million times. Nick or server was SUPER nice. We felt so bad for him- we ordered bottomless mimosas, he informed us the restaurant only had 2 1/2 bottles of champagne and we couldn’t do bottomless. Then we ordered an appetizer of rib tips, they were out of that. Then someone ordered the pork belly & they were out of that. It was almost laughable.
We took it in stride- everything B&A makes is great and seriously NICK was so nice we knew it wasn’t his fault. You could see the pained look on his face.
The food we did order was amazing as always.
Nick was an awesome server.
We had a great date-night @ Barrel & Ashes. We were in the neighborhood and saw them as an option to get a table now. We really enjoyed the experience. Everyone we dealt with, the hostess, the waitress as well as the people bringing us our food and drinks were all wonderful. There were terrific drink options and the food was really good!
I would highly recommend Barrel & Ashes.
