Barrel & Ashes
Guests can enjoy chef driven traditional American BBQ at Barrel & Ashes seven days a week. The restaurant’s bar program includes a tap driven program with specialty cocktails, cold brew, teas and an eclectic list of local beers, all on tap. The restaurant occupies the former Spark Woodfire Grill space and has been stripped back to its original 1940’s structure and creatively designed to bring family style southern hospitality to Studio City.
What Insiders Are Saying
The great, lively BBQ joint that the Valley desperately needed.
Third time in a row bad service & food is not being prepared with the high level of care we enjoyed in the past. This place used to be great... sad to loose a solid spot.
OMG the HOE CAKE is a must! Service is great and the food is delish!
Excellent service and generous portions - a great place in Studio City !
It’s simply the best! Food, service, etc.
Had a great time at Barrel & Ashes for brunch! I would say the only thing that's tough if you're Gluten Free there aren't a lot of options and was a little bummed out that for brunch they were out of bloody mary mix and we were one of the first reservations of the day. However, the food was delicious and the service was really good! Love this spot!
Great food! Dinner meal was delicious. I was presently suprised that the food was soooo good! Will be returning to Barrel and Ashes soon.
Pre Bowl dinonf
Jordan was terrific
Love the food and service
The World Famous Hoe Cake is no joke, so delish and the BBQ meats are yummy too!
No choices for dineLA. Selection offered were not good. Big portions.
Only a few spaces to park on street in front.
Fantastic food. I came for my birthday with my boyfriend and family & everyone loved it! I think it’s the best barbecue I’ve have in LA. Will definitely be coming here again
We'll definitely be back! The brisket was exceptional, the hoecake was spectacular, and the bottomless Arnold Palmer made with house-made lemonade went perfectly with everything. Seriously friendly service, cute BBQ theming, all around excellent!
We were just celebrating the Fourth of July and thought that having BBQ would be the perfect way to that. Travis was our waiter and he was very delightful. The whiskey list he presented was overwhelming and one would need time to study it. I guess we’ll use that as excuse to come back.
Always incredible food here. Can't go wrong with the Hoe Cake, pork rinds, and any of the meats.
Amazing BBQ-great flavor to everything we had. Clay was a great server and guided us quite diligently through our selection.
July 4th and barbecue; great choice for the family!
Lively BBQ restaurant with a good selection of food - if you like meat. My husband and I split the taster and still had meat left over. The collard greens and beans are excellent.
4th of July lunch with family
Much ado about nothing. There are better BBQ place even along Ventura Blvd.
Turns out outside seating in on the sidewalk, where folks are forgotten. Above average brisket and ribs. Good Mac & Cheese, beans, and collard greens. Soupy cole slaw, dried out pull pork.
This was not an invitation to return.
Really like their BBQ, this time we tried a burger, ordered it med-rare. Burger arrived well done. Round two came out medium. Our waiter didn’t bother to check on us to see if the second burger came out correctly cooked the second time. Cocktails were excellent!!! Food not up to standard, service the same..... it’ll be a while before we try again.
I gave the food 3 stars only because the Impossible Burger was inedible! It had a pretty bad after taste. Everything else was amazing and i cant wait to go back.
Food was good, service was great, however I was more than put off by receiving my bill that had an added 3% fee (not explained in advance) for health coverage for employees. I am all for good health coverage but dont add it to my bill without an explanation
Excellent BBQ. Tri Tip, Hot Links, Ribs, Chicken were all great. Pulled pork was a little dry. The sides were top notch as well. But the best was their selection of Bourbon - Have already recommended to multiple people
The food overall was too salty to be enjoyable, every dish was like this. The baby back ribs were tough. The corn bread would have been amazing if it had been served warm.
Its a shame. We really wanted to enjoy this place because they have a nice cocktail menu.
Menu maybe needs a few salads. A lot of meat. Would be nice to have more healthy sides.
Visited after seeing on instagram. Brilliant food which did not disappoint. Massive portions. Especially loved the Frito Chilli Pie and my husband loved all of the meat! We were also impressed with the alcohol list - Edinburgh Gin is one of our favourites and we hadn't seen it elsewhere in the US. Our servers were amazing and even let us use their phone WIFI spot to order an Uber as we were visiting from Scotland and had expensive roaming and could not connect to the guest WIFI. (Thank you!!) The place itself is quite small but this makes it feel welcoming and cosy.
I would 100% recommend a visit - you will not be disappointed!
The interior was too loud so we sat on the terrace, much better
Food was outstanding. Innovative yet traditional.
Very good service.
The rib special was AMAZING and the staff was great.
The 3% LA Heath tax threw me. Never been charged that before. Nice place.
A friend who was with us had been to B&A a few times and recommended it. He was right. It's a small, friendly place with the basic western look -- nothing fancy. However, the service was always on top of everything. The food was great. Two of us had 1/2 racks of baby-back ribs and the third one had a briscut of beef sandwich. There was lots of meat on those ribs and the sauce was outstanding. If I had any quibble, it is that the ribs could have been cooked a little longer to make them a bit more tender, but not quite fall off the bone. We ordered the (large) side dishes of mac 'n cheese and cole slaw. Super! By the way, when you sit down, order beers on tap and a hoe cake for an appetizer. It's large enough for 2 or 3 and a nice way to start the evening.
this might be one of my new all time favorite spots we did a big table share so got to try so many amazing dishes - the best ever was the bone marrow dumpling (think that is what the dumpling was) heaven in a bite!
Too greasy for me, ok
wonder experience! the staff was accommodating and friendly
Great food. Service was awesome.
When you want some "down home" cooking, made just right and authentically, this is the place to go. You don't need to completely throw out your diet either, but if it has to go, it has to go! Love the food, service was excellent, enjoyed it immensely!
Great BBQ. Great whiskies. Great service.
Like the menu, love the drinks. Great neighborhood place. Wish there were specials - more choices than only 1 type of rib. It’s always solid but more menu choices would be great
Everything was really good. All of recommended foods from our server, Clay were just awesome! My favorite was Kale Ceasar Salad and my hubby just loved Pie Hoe!!!! You must try these two combination.
Entire staff outstanding as usual
