Inspired by its namesake, Barranco’s menu offers seafood, family-style tapas and a select number of main dishes. In addition to a ceviche bar, Barranco’s menu features bocaditos (small bites) such as Scallops Carlitos and Langostinos Crocantes (prawns), grilled anticuchos (meat skewers), pollo a la brasa (traditional Peruvian rotisserie chicken), classic Peruvian sandwiches, an assortment of delectable sides and, for dessert, Alfajores, the popular Latin-American artisanal cookies.
Barranco’s beverage program features pisco, the traditional spirit of Peru.
Tasty paella and salmon. The purple potato chip is unique. The service was efficient and friendly. We have been there many times and really enjoyed every time. You should be aware that the tables are quite close to each other but it doesn't bother us.
We went for Valentine’s Day dinner. We have had dinner at Barranco several times and have enjoyed it every other time. Sadly, this time the food quality was poor and they could not keep the door closed resulting in very chilly breezes all evening long. On the positive side the staff was great! I am chalking it up to trying to serve too many dinners on a big night but I will have to think hard about going back. Disappointing...
We also attended a beer event at Barranco that night. It was great. We enjoyed the featured Fort Point beer.
The food was good. The service not so great. Not sure if I would recommend or not. It took almost 30 minutes to get our bill and it wasn't even correct. First time dining here. If I'm in the neighborhood, I may give it another chance. I wouldn't go out of my way to return.
Food was ok. But the service while friendly was sloppy. Food was served no forks, not just once but three times. Don’t appreciate food getting cold that you can’t eat because you have no silverware. Very sloppy.
My partner had food allergies that took nearly 10 minutes to find out from the kitchen as to what she could eat, our distance between our table and the kitchen was 20 feet.
I explained that I preferred not to eat meat and every suggestion included beef.
Loved this restaurant! My friend and I shared 4 appetizers and loved each one!! Great way to experience delicious Peruvian dishes and flavors.
Clearly we came at a tough moment but after 90 minutes of waiting, we had to leave to make it to our Escape Room and had not yet received our entrees. The starters were so yummy, but waiting 90 mins for entrees is just too long. We ended up getting 5 of 6 of them to go as we were running out the door and ate them in the car. They comped us two entrees on our next trip. Given this basically ruined a birthday dinner experience, I think they should have done more. Hopefully this was a fluke and this place stays around for a long time. The food is really quite good - so fun to have something different in Lafayette.
The service was inattentive. It was not bad but just not there. The prices are way too high. We started with ceviche and the waitress recommended chips to go with it. They cost $5 for a few chips. What followed was similarly over priced.
Since it was our first visit our server spent a lot of time describing the dishes which we really appreciated!
Food was fresh and delicious!
Service was great!
They weren’t prepare for a big party, the waiter keep forgetting the dishes and the drinks. Until the point that they close the kitchen and some stayed hungry. Instead of keeping the kitchen open 30 minutes more for a group of 12. Not gonna go back
Inconsistent... service: we waited 15 min before we were acknowledged. I had to flag down a server. I mentioned it was a special bday dinner so had hoped it would turn things around — it did not. No water for 20 min. All tables are supposed to be served chips when seated with water etc — we didn’t get any. I didn’t notice until end of meal. Cocktails were fabulous. Ceviche was very good. Causita was dry and chicken paired with it was too. Would never order again. Octopus appetizer was fine but Smokey savory spices overpowered the octopus. I had to flag someone down again to order second cocktail after waiting with an empty glass for another 20 min with my entree. The worst! Entrees came out for 2 guests as expected but there was a long wait for the other 2 guests (like 20 minutes or more). We had all finished our meal before the 4th guest was served... the whole sequencing was such a mess it ruined the meal honestly. There was no acknowledgement either in the bill or in words of the delays (spanned 2.5 hours) or of our guests bday. While our waiter was cheerful and nice, he was obviously either clueless or just really didn’t actually care. No genuine acknowledgement. No offer to see dessert menu etc etc... as a resident of Lafayette, I was sorely disappointed in this local restaurant. Will not be returning. For a fabulous Peruvian experience — try Le Mar in SF.
We really enjoyed our meal. We have a few local Peruvian restaurants that we enjoy. This restaurant has jumped to the top. Everything was great. Food, service, cocktails. We will definitely be back.
The food was delicious, service was engaging, fun and set the tone for the whole experience
We were very disappointed. We have been to this restaurant many times, but the food was just terrible, and the noise was deafening! Our server tried to do the best she could, but this place has fallen on bad times......!! Just an awful experience!
We loved the food!!!
Difficult to find our waiter even though the restaurant was not busy. Took a long time to get things after ordering
We took our daughter, son-in-law, and their 9 month old son and they loved it. They thought everything we had was beautifully seasoned and memorable. It was just noisy enough that the small amount of noises the baby made were not heard.
Delicious food and great service
The food is always good and the friendly service is appreciated.
Had a great server... her first day and she was dynomite! Food was really good and I'll be back
I'm Peruvian and have loved Costanera but I am perplexed why the quality of food there has not transferred to Parada or Barranco. The causita did not have any lime flavor at all which it should. The chicha morada was delicious. The fish ceviche tasted like the fish had sat on leche de tigre juices all day... super salty, too much lime and the fish consistency was gritty/wrong. I returned it and picked something else, they were very nice about it. My companion ordered arroz chaufa...once again, while it tasted ok, it was nothing like the arroz chaufa I know...too much soy. I ordered the churros and I have never tasted worse churros, it had a strange strong oil flavor as if the oil had been used to fry something else. I wondered if they used the same oil to fry the yucca or other foods and some of their flavor transferred over. It's a nice place but I will not return. Expensive and bad food quality.
Great service throughout the evening. Fun and amazing cocktails. Shared style menu is great.
Went for my birthday with my family, great food, wonderful company and a amazing waiter!
Tables very close together
This is a go-to restaurant for a business lunch in the East Bay. The food is super fresh and delicious (always a risk with ceviche!) and the service is excellent. The noise level was a bit higher than last time - there was some quick tempo music playing in the background - but in general, a great place for a business lunch.
Good food and great service. I would say that the food was a little overpriced. The churros are amazing!
Service was excellent!
Great selection of foods....nice flavors to everything we tried...great spot for lunch with friends!
The noise level was tolerable inside only because the restaurant was not full. We usually prefer to eat outside but it was a little cold last night. The food was fantastic as always.
We LOVE Barranco! The food was amazing and the service was perfect. Our favorite Lafayette restaurant for sure!!
Enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. We enjoyed the bottomless Sangria, Costillitas, Empanadas, and Tequenos. The Pork Belly was disappointing because the fat was not cooked enough and so was too fatty. There was a shortage of seafood which was due to PG&E power outage. The friendly staff more than made up for it.
The amazing food did not make up for the complete lack of service. We had to ask for water several times. We asked to have the food staggered it arrived all at once, including a plate of fries we didn’t order. They kept trying to serve the firs to our table. Not surprisingly the fries were on the bill. the Service should be excellent for the prices they charge. It is not worth your time or money.
Nice meal with excellent service. Restaurant was vert noisy. however, we ate outside which was delightful and very quite.
Fantastic experience!! This was a 25th anniversary gift and the recipients raved about the food and service. They felt spoiled and enjoyed every sip and bite!
Have had several dinners at Barranco and the staff and food never disappoint!
Food is interesting and the menu offers variety for every taste.
Outdoor seating is comfortable and an escape from the noise inside.
I have eaten at Barranco many times since it opened, and it used to be one of my favorite restaurants and a place to introduce friends to Peruvian food. In the past few months the food has undergone a major decline in taste. I used to love their salsa and paella, and since they hired a new chef, they are a disappointment. The paella is bland and the salsa lacks the "punch" it once had. I used to love the chicharrones, and now they are flavorless, need a major dousing of lemon, and are too "bready," much of which, ends up on my plate. The ceviche continues to be a favorite, and the service by the waiters is always outstanding--attentive and accommodating. The people who bus the tables are not very personable or friendly.
Great food, including a variety of delicious empanada. We had a group of 9, and service was excellent. We all enjoyed our meals.
