We enjoyed the experience
Everything was great; the food was very tasty and the service was very friendly and prompt. The only issue was that even though the restaurant was almost entirely empty when two out of three of us arrived, they wouldn't seat us until the third person showed up. With a full set of open tables, that seemed liked a foolishly strict policy.
Ok food but terrible, slow service
My 3rd time here and everything on the Tapas menu has been absolutely delicious.
Awesome and delicious food. Good service, cool location.
Very attentive to menu and special dietary/allergy needs... great environment... friendly staff... ❤
I was meeting my cousin from out of town for brunch and Barraca came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. We had a variety of huevos and tapas. The chorizo was outstanding!! We also indulged in the bottomless sangria- at $15 the value is well worth it, and you can switch up the sangrias as you go.
I would say the only downfall is we got there early 11:30) and although the inside was empty the music was deafening. It was hard to speak at the table - a little much for 11:30. Even so, we will go again for sure!!
Second time I go to Barraca and I love everything, but specially the churros, they're delicious
Inexpensive drinks, but food was fair. Outdoor seating furniture is also uncomfortable compared to other places with outdoor seating.
Had a small brunch to catch up with an old friend, great outdoor seating area. Really can’t get better.
We had a good meal, food was super tasty, and filling for the three of us! Will be back!
Overall my friend and I had a great experience. We used their happy hour menu and ordered several tapas and sangria and then finished with churros for dessert. Their sangria was the best that I’ve had. My only qualm is that happy hour is advertised on their website (and on their sign outside their restaurant for that matter) to be 4-7. we initially made reservations at 4 but when we arrived we were told that the restaurant doesn’t open until 5. I’m not sure if this is a new time they are implementing but they should update their website and sign if that’s the case.
We booked a table for 8 at 6:30 hoping to get a drink at happy hour, I picked a tapas place as not all of us cld get there by 6:30. I thought it would be more casual venue for moms that had different timings. Wouldn’t seat up until a majority were there. Not at four people, not at 5. Asked us to wait until 6 people were there. I said fine, we want a table for 7. Then they seated us. In total, we had 9 people come. A couple came early but left early, some later and stayed late. I think it’s ridiculous they made us wait on the sidewalk instead of letting us come in a get a drink.
1 member of our reservation of 4 was stuck in traffic and was very late. However, we didn't lose our table and were seated in the downstairs area of the restaurant that we never even knew existed. We were next to several large parties and in turn, were overlooked and forgotten. We came for brunch and opted for the bottomless sangrias, but we waited long periods of time between drinks and sometimes were even served the wrong kind of sangria. In all fairness, our waiter was basically covering the downstairs area by himself for most of the time but we just kept watching other tables get served first. When our food finally came, it was overcooked and not very good. The waiters didn't come to check on us after we got our food and it was a bit frustrating.
I booked on Open Table and thought that I was booking at a restaurant that I had been to in October 2017. When we walked in I asked, “Have you changed the decor since last October?” The hostess looked at me oddly and then when my husband and I sat down at the bar, I realized that I was at Barraca and not my original choice. Boy, were we lucky. We were bringing a group of younger friends to celebrate the sola exhibit of one of the guests who is a photographer. Every single thing that we tasted was excellent, and the servers were totally attentive. In addition, even through we had 2 of everything that we ordered plus desserts and drinks, our bill averaged about $60/person. For the quantity of food, the ambiance and the service, it seemed almost like a bargain. Anytime that I am in NYC again with a small group, I will definitely book at Barraca. One especially nice thing was that the hostess gave us a seat in the lower dining room in what was probably the quietest place in the noisy restaurant. That was especially thoughtful.
I love this place! I came here for a birthday brunch this past Saturday with 6 friends and we all had a great time! Our waitress Michelle was super attentive and always made sure our sangria glasses were full (they have a great bottomless sangria deal)! Will definitely be returning!
Delicious food, best sangria in the city.
Was REALLY hot in the basement dining area. Otherwise no complaints
The service was discombobulated from the start. The hostess confused our reservation which resulted in a delay in seating. After we finally sat down, it took forever for the waiter to come to the table and even longer for the food to arrive. Once it arrived, it was overwhelmingly disappointing. Both paella dishes were cold, soggy and lacked much flavor. Overall, it was a horrible experience and not worth the time.
I was super excited to come to Barraca for happy hour and tapas after work. The place was super cute and the staff was friendly. To be honest, the food was not great.. it was mediocre. I was looking forward to it all week because the menu looked great..but the tapas were subpar.. the only tapa that was really good was the dates wrapped in bacon. Cute place to go for drinks and happy hour special.. but don't expect much from the food..
Love this place!
The food was great. The sangria was weak. Stick to wine, preferably red with Spanish food. The music was too loud. The service was great.
Everything else is awesome but please clean the bathroom and have toilet sits
I’ve been coming here for years, and tonight was by far my worst dining experience. The paella was bland, totally unseasoned, and the service didn’t do much to make up for it. I doubt I’ll be returning anytime soon, if ever.
Excellent attentive service. Ordered several of the happy hour tapas specials and they were all good! Sangria was also tasty!
Barraca is the best place to bring friends who like a fun atmosphere! Tapas are life!
The food was good the waitress was fantastic the only thing was we make reservation and they try seat us in the lower floor super dark and no appealing look went they have tables upstair i complain so they seat us in firs floor and they were empty tables all the time we were there when i ask the hosts she was super rude and say they were reserve
i guess they didn't show up more the 10 tables in different parts of the room
The food was good, though it was quite loud. The staff was great and friendly.
Food was good service was good. But to be honest I was very taken aback when asked to increase my tip. I had calculated 18% on the amount , not including tax, but a waiter came to the table to ask for more tip money. Very unprofessional. I obliged but would never return nor recommend.
We tried to order three different desserts and we were told they were out of each of them, one at a time, and then a fourth dessert (the last resort) was basically forced upon us. It is wildly overpriced, although the paella portions are definitely sizable. The sangria was very good. Food was good overall. We basically got kicked out very rudely right before 11 PM even though it says they are open until 12 AM on all weekdays on Google (we went on a Wednesday).
Excellent meal. My 4th time here and always leave impressed!
Service was very good and attentive, though food was slow to come out from kitchen.
Probably some backup with food order, that would also explain the overcooked fried or poached eggs.
On the price side, 14$ for a slice of tasted bread with avocado spread, some salad, 2 cherry tomatoes and a single (overcooked) poached egg is a little pricy, compared to other items in the same menu.
Don’t let them take you to the downstairs dungeon, it’s terrible, horrible room full of huge parties. Bathroom was disgusting. Food and service good
I was very disappointed with the service at Barraca. It's been on my list forever to try, and I will not be returning. I asked to add 1 to our party, and they refused, claiming they were OUT of tables/chairs and were even borrowing from sister restaurants. When we arrived, the place was EMPTY. The poor service continued throughout the evening and the staff was barely attentive.
I love this place and have been here before. The food is amazing. I was a little disappointed this time, though, because they rushed us and then try to kick us out early towards the end of the meal. They said they were really busy. Regardless of whether they are busy, they should treat their customers with respect. When you're paying a lot of money for a nice meal, you'd hope that the service would be good and that they would allow you to time to enjoy it. My brother was visiting from states away, and I didn't appreciate them cutting our time together short. They should focus on making sure that every customer has a good experience, instead of trying to crank out as many customers as possible.
The paella was awesome and so were the drinks. They only problem was the service. It took us almost 30 minutes to get our drinks we ordered and 40 minutes to get our appetizer. We were sat at 850pm and didnt even get our main course till 10 pm.
Incredibly rude hostess!
I used to love Barraca. After this experience I am not going back. I asked for a table and after confirming that it was a party of two and indicating I had to order food I got seated outside and offered a drink. A couple minutes later the hostess came in and asked me to leave as my party had not arrived, my party was 5 steps away and there 10 seconds after. She still asked me to leave so that she could give the table to someone else.
Not only was I asked to leave, she was very rude and behaved as if I had done something wrong.
She claimed the restauran policy but if she made a mistake by giving me the table she needs to fix it herself.
Waited for half hour for reservation and then for An hour at the table before the appetizers arrived even though half of the tables were empty. Supposedly kitchen was “backed up”. Once the food arrived, it was good.
Very nice! Once they got super busy though service got slow. I highly suggest going early. We went at 12 and service started great but definitely dwindled after 115. Food was great, we didn’t get tapas and he open bar sangria selection - just entrees and were very satisfied.
