Barraca Ratings and Reviews
I went this restaurant for Paella, however, after we eat almost half of Parlla Marisco, we found the string or small rope (inedible). But still, manager took care of things, so I would say service is really good but please check the Paella before you guys serve.
First time in NYC and this place was highly recommended by a friend. Went to barraca and we all absolutely loved it! A few of us tried the bottomless sangria for brunch and it was amazing
Our waiter was just impecable and the food was incredible. You will not be disappointed. Next time I’m in town I will be coming back!
Amazing time! We enjoyed some of the traditional tapas like patatas bravas, the bacon wrapped dates, the brussel sprouts. WOW. I was sad that they were out of the coca de calabaza but I will definitely be back. Their Rioja sangria is a total home run. If you go all out, plan on spending $50 a person. Oh - and don't forget to try the churros. They are OUTRAGEOUS.
We just went with tapas and Spanish beer and had a really nice meal at a fair price. The croquetas, bravas, pan con tomato, jamon Serrano and bocaditos de calamares were all eagerly devoured by our group of four. Service was very accommodating and friendly. Definitely worth another return visit! Popular and deservedly so!
Very nice ambiance, nice music and not too loud.
We sat at the bar where we were taken care of by Lucas! He was amazing! His vibe, energy and personality was everything. Very personable and genuine.
Rioja sangrias were the best!
We had appetizers at the bar
We had papas Bravas that were great and the Gambas al ajillo (shrimp in garlic and olive oil sauce) which was amazing! So good we ordered a second one!
Churros rellenos with tres leches sauce and Nutella and a side of salted caramel icecream yum!
The food here is not impressive at all. There are far better Spanish tapas bars in NYC with tastier options. That being said, I would not recommend this place at all. The food wasn’t good (except for the tortilla Española and the croquettes) and the mediocre atmosphere wasn’t anything to call home about.
We chose Barraca at random...food was subpar, I was shocked that the shrimp in garlic & oil were no bigger than the size of a quarter - the garlic was burnt and unenjoyable and the whole time the dish was on our table it smelled of cheap EVOO. We ordered the Manchego cheese board and Bombas which were delicious but you can’t really mess up a ball of potato filled with meat...
The service was great, our waiter was kind and attentive and the manager (assuming b/c he was in a suit) checked on us periodically and folded my boyfriends napkin when he went to use the restroom. The atmosphere is pretty chill w/ dim lighting like most nyc restaurants.
Unfortunately we weren’t ‘wowed’ and won’t be returning.
The restaurant was good. At first when you walk in, it looks pretty small but it is really big on the inside. The food was good but I've eaten better tapas. I was disappointed with the service because we mentioned to the server right in the beginning that we do not eat ham or beef due to religious reasons and he recommended the Branzino to us. Since the ambience is pretty dark, we could not see what was with the fish. There was ham stuffed inside the fish. The moment I took a bite, I realized what he had served us. When we told him about it, he just said sorry. He didn't even check with us if we want something else instead of that. Also, the guy who served us water was totally high. He poured the water completely out of the glass and walked off like nothing had happened. The entire table was dripping. We called him back to clean it and he just shrugged and cleaned it. No apology. The restaurant was good, the food was good too but the service was bad.
I was surprised to find this really good tapas place. They have several sangrias, and my favorite was the Valencia. They have good tapas selection and several paella options as well. Everything we ordered was good! Will definitely be coming back here with my friends.
Our party of three had paella for two and three tapas, and both the paella and the tapas were absolutely delicious. If you have a play or a gig at the Vanguard to make, the service is perfect--the tapas come out pretty quickly and the paella half an hour later.
liven the neighborhood, so love that I decided to eat here with a friend. The happy hour price for tapas was a lovely surprise. The food was excellent. Tapas are such a wonderful way for friends toe at to gather and have wonderful conversations. The noise level was acceptable for conversation. Hope that it doesn't become louder for dinner.
Transported right to Spain...
We had dinner recently at Barraca and had a wonderful evening. The location is in the heart of our favorite part of NYC, (West Village) and felt like we were out of the country that night in a cozy charming restaurant. The food was the most authentic tapas I have had in NYC (be sure and get the Pulpo a la Plancha) and they had a nice selection of artisan created sangrias which were so yummy! The service was stellar and we felt well taken care of by our waiter Angel. Looking forward to going back again soon.
