Entertaining guests from Asia and South America in for a convention. Wanted a real Philly adventure - not disappointed! Food was excellent.
My friends and I often go to Bara Rosa before the theater. Service is always great and food is delicious. The price fix menu looks good, but we usually opt for a salad and then share one of their pizzas.
The experience wasn’t great. It took an hour for our entrees to come out and there was a hair in one of them. Instead of trying to smooth over our dining experience the sever ignored our table. I’m not sure I’ll be back.
Barra Rossa is a lively place with good food served in ample portions. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and took orders for the four of us without having to write anything down. Prices are reasonable.
The filet prepared perfectly and was delicious as was the caprese salad and dessert. Casey our server was outstanding!
Nice selection of appetizers for Happy Hour, delicious salmon meal, excellent service (fast, attentive, refilled drinks, personable) and discount for Walnut Theater attendees.
This was our send visit to Barra Rossa and the service was top notch again! My family, including our 7 year old, loved their pasta choices (spaghetti with meatballs, veal parmesan, and the spicy linguini with crab meat). We will definitely return in the near future.
The service was excellent! The food was ok.
Had a large group for Mother’s Day. Sat us at a nice, spacious, almost picnic-style table upstairs which I really liked because you could comfortably see/talk to everyone. Service was great, nothing took too long. The food, I would say, was alright to good. I wasn’t blown away, but no major complaints. Had a great day. Thank you!
Great job. Also great for celiac (gluten free) folks!
Great after work hang out or date night spot for a couple. Cool ambiance in the Bar area. The pastas are my favorite, even better then the pizza. Great portion size and really tasty. I recommend the Meatball appetizer to start. #birdeatsworld @birdeatsworld
Great staff, awesome food and convenient location. We will be back for sure!
Good food and price as always. After 3 years of dining here 4-5 times per year- time for some new items on the dinner menu
I came here after a ceremony at school. Honestly, the waitress was a doll, but the food isn’t something I would write home about. Everything came out pretty quickly (but again it’s a Wednesday night so the restaurant wasn’t packed) and was okay. I’ve had better Italian from a chain restaurant like Maggiano’s honestly. My boyfriend and I had been looking forward to the Gnocchi and it just did not hit the spot. Same thing with their meatballs. The seasoning was just off so they tasted more on the bland side than anything.
Very convenient for Walnut Street Theatre
Awesome! We sat upstairs and it was beautiful! The ambiance was perfect! Food and service was outstanding!!
Had come with family for a birthday. Having been here before, the menu has a wide variety for everyone! This past time, with a bigger party we made a reservation in advance. It ended up being a slower weekday but the staff was over accommodating and friendly! It was a great meal and I would highly recommend to anyone in the area! We are looking forward to going back.
Post theatre regular spot - superb as always.
We go here for meals when we have tickets to the Walnut Street theater. Great food and service!!!
The server was attentive and efficient. The food was good.
Barra Rossa is our go to place while we're in town to see a show. This time we went for Easter Dinner and it was great!
This was my fourth visit and I have yet to be disappointed. Each time, including this weekend's visit, the quality and taste of the food has been outstanding. Each Barra Rossa staff member treats guests like royalty and service has been consistently excellent. Great food, great staff, great location. Perfect pre-show dinner stop before taking in a performance at the Walnut Street Theatre, just one block away.
A frequent dinner spot before the theatre. Never disappoints!
I arrived about 30 minutes late for my reservation due to traffic issues. I requested quick service as dinner was to be followed with a play at the Lantern Theater. Our server, Halley, was great and brought our food quickly which gave my party time to relax with a second glass of wine. I’ve been to Barra Rosa numerous times and have always been pleased with the food and service.
Pre show dining.. friendly and professional staff, chef accommodated special requests without hesitation, delicious food, wonderful wine. Overall, a highly recommended restaurant!!
The service is outstanding and the food is consistently good. Great location and value for money, a local favorite.
Food was delicious;
Having lived in Italy, my wife and I were hoping to find an authentic Italian dining experience in Philadelphia. I have to say that both of us came away disappointed. Perhaps a high bar to judge against. We ordered the Barra Antipasto. While this presumably included Italian cheeses, meats and olives, most of the items were mild and did not offer up much flavor. Both of our entries also were disappointing. My wife's grilled swordfish mostly just tasted charred. My shrimp in a cream sauce, came in a goopy cheesy sauce that I would expect at a TGIF. In short the meals lacked the finesse of a real Italian meal. I don't think we'll go back for dinner. It could be a good place for drinks. The wines we ordered with our meals, an Italian Pinot Grigio and a Spanish Albarino, were quite tasty.
We ( party of seven) had dinner at Barra Rossa before attending a production at the Walnut Street Theater. Our seats were ready at the time of our reservation. Our waitress asked us if we were going to the theater when we arrived and saw that we were given a courtesy discount on our final bill. Our food was delicious and slightly different from the typical Italian fare. Service was friendly and attentive. Prices were reasonable. We will be returning in the future.
I love both the food and the service here. The upstairs is also great for business meetings.
Have been here several times over the last year. Excellent location for after a show at Walnut St Theater. Food is always fresh and tasty. Also the selection for dinners on a gluten free diet is vast. Will be back
The food was great and so was the service. Would visit again.
Conveniently located in the theatre area with close by parking. A well run restaurant serving great food and wine. Service was superb and timely, food choices were great and very satisfying. Highly recommended.
Finding a gluten-free menu is the best thing since sliced gluten-free bread! Barra Rossa accommodates for both pasta and pizza--a rare find! My favorite dish is the Chicken Abruzzi.
Absolutely love the place. The food is always delish.
Excellent food and exceptional service. Great menu and wine list. Great location, especially for the Walnut Street Theater. 15% discount with tix to the theater.
Really good food, decent prices, great service. I enjoyed my time here
Post theatre meal
This restaurant is a Walnut Street “jewel”.
The food is very good and so is the service.
It very close to the Walnut Street Theatre which great for having lunch or dinner before a show.
Awesome cheese plate great burger. Very happy. Stopped by after seeing Pinkalicious at the Walnut St theater.
