Barque Smokehouse - Burlington
Thursday and Friday: 11:30 am to 10:00 pm
Saturday: 11 am to 10 pm
Sunday: 11 am to 9:30 pm
Was just ok. On the positive side their bbq sauces are excellent, beer flights were great and the poutine was delicious.
Meats (ribs and chicken) were a touch overdone but saved by the sauce. The service was very slow - we waited an hour for food at least. Sides and salads were bland or odd flavour pairings ie blue cheese, lime dressing, and runny undercooked hard boiled eggs.
$160 for four, not bad value but should be better food at that price. I’d only go back to buy the sauces and put them on my own homemade, properly cooked and way less expensive bbq dinner.
I know lots of people who have been here a number of times and love it. The reviews online are hot and cold, looks like we got cold.
This was my second time at Barque Burlington. I have also dined at Barque Toronto (Roncesvalles) on numerous occasions.
I am a big fan of the food, particularly the chicken wings.
So, I called some friends and decided to watch the Leafs game at Barque, have some food, and enjoy some drinks.
When we all arrived, we placed our drink orders. It took 20 minutes for our drinks to be brought to our table; 1 drink was the wrong brand, 1 drink was incomplete, and 1 drink was missing. On an order of 6 drinks, it took 20 minutes and they were wrong on 50% of the order.
After the drinks were settled, we ordered. In the meantime, we watched the game, which was being "streamed" on the T.V. The game cut out numerous times, and seemed to also be extremely low quality at points.
But, then it was time for another drink. Unfortunately, our server had apparently forgotten we were there (even though the restaurant was not full at all) and we had to wait an additional 20 minutes for our second round of drinks. Even after walking to the bar and asking for assistance, we were kept waiting.
We ordered our drinks and were fine.
Then, the food came to the table. Our main dishes were served, and we had to wait 5 minutes for our sides.
The food was delicious.
When it was time to leave, we asked for our bills...which were brought to the table within seconds.
Overall, I will not go back to this restaurant. Their food is amazing, and I would be a monthly client, however their service is BEYOND HORRIBLE.
On my first visit, which was a birthday, we were treated to similar service. So slow that we cancelled our dessert as we had been waiting over 20 minutes for the dish. We still paid for the dessert, and no mention of taking this off our bill.
Horrible experience. I will not return until something is done about the service.
The service was excellent. We had a friendly waiter who provided great service. The food was good, especially the Caesar salad, poutine topped with pulled pork, brisket and of course the s'mores skillet! Barque is one of our favourite restaurants.
The food was terrible. I had the 1 person sampler with the honey garlic burnt ends and the chicken. The portion size was extremely small for the money and the burnt ends were all Fat - no meat and therefore could not be eaten. Two other people at our table also got the 1 person sampler with ribs. There were only 3 ribs on the plate. Again, such a ripoff for the money.
I could have gone to the Keg for my birthday dinner and had a great meal for $22.00 instead of paying this amount for the terrible food at BARQUE.
The spice you put on EVERYTHING there should be used more sparingly. Everything tasted the exact same. 5 out of 5 people at our table would never go back.
We were so pumped to try Barque that we drove from east Oakville and yet we’re so disappointed ..mainly on the food.
The popcorn was a nice touch and yummy. We tried the brisket, ribs and wings and felt like we ate previous days leftover re-heated. The brisket was tough, the wings were dry with very little meat and the baby ribs were dry/tough below the sauce layer.
Decor and atmosphere are cool but we won’t be back because of the food. Sorry but honest feedback.
Good experience but they were completely out of chicken. How does that happen at 5pm???
We enjoyed BBQ ribs at Barque. Ribs were tasty. Free sparkling water was a nice addition. We would go back.
Food was excellent and I wish I could eat there more regularly.
Our first time at Barque was excellent. The $6 deals after 8pm were a great deal!! We ordered almost everything off of the late night menu and it was all delicious. Great margaritas too!
Food and service was great! One thing I’d wish they would do is remove the membrane off the rack of ribs!
Service excellent, food outstanding and promptly prepared. Prices good for such quality. Patio very pleasant with great music.
My husband and I both ordered the two meat meals. The choice seemed like a great idea. I choose the fried chicken and asked if it was white meat or dark meat. The waitress felt like it might have a mixture of both. I was shocked and disappointed when I was served backs. It was some skin but very little meat and quite gross. I did not want to be a complainer but as we were leaving I did mention to the waitress that the veggies were good but we were surprised that they would serve chicken backs with so little meat and hard. She was not surprised because she said they had run out of chicken. Whaaaaat??? If she had informed us that they had run out of chicken I would have happily changed my order but don't serve the rejects instead of informing the customers. I was very disappointed because I looked forward to this experience and a little information would have changed the outcome;(
Had a 6pm reservation. The place was relatively empty on arrival. Got 2 appetizers in a timely fashion. Then waited 40minutes for the rest. Food came out all at once. No space on the tables.
Friday nite and it was obvious the kitchen isn’t equipped. We were so tired of sitting we had to walk around.
Will not return.
Although the brisket was the best thing we tasted the value is not there.
Overall experience :(
Our brisket was cold, not warm and not very tender. Ribs just ok.
Excellent service. Friendly staff. Good food reasonable prices.
Was excited to try this place- menu was very enticing unfortunately- the food was cold and bland. All four of us did not finish our meals. Sadly was not the experience we were hoping for.
Nice place, delicious food, kids friendly..spicy food, maybe a little too much spice for kids, my kids anyways ..the ambience is odd, hard to explain but it didn’t feel like an adult restaurant if that makes sense ..but I reiterate the food is delicious
Ribs wee very tough, I don’t think they were cooked that day. The potato salad was very bland. Very disappointed.
Great night on their patio. Good food, service was ok. It would have been nice if the staff were friendlier.
Maybe just a bad night but in our opinion the food was at best fair. We ordered the Smapler for 2.
Appetizers: Wings weren’t cooked well done as we asked and sauce was not appealing to my taste. Chicken tacos - only thing I enjoyed.
Sampler: all meat on the platter was warm (not hot). Beef brisket was good but fatty. Pulled pork was good. Ribs were over cooked and again the sauce was not appealing.
Sides: Fries were also warm and asparagus salad was fair.
All in all I would say that there were way too many spices that it was difficult to really enjoy the taste of anything.
No need for anything to be served warm as it was a Friday night and the restaurant was not busy at all. Spent over $100 for two of us and left very disappointed as we don’t get out for dinner very often. Would not return.
4 of us had dinner there recently. While the food was quite good and well priced there were a couple of things that disappointed us. I had made a reservation a week earlier. When we arrived at the restaurant we were seated right away but in probably the worse table in the place. One of us faced the kitchen and the other the bathrooms. While the restaurant was busy I do not believe everyone had made reservations earlier than we had. I would think when setting the seating plan for the night reservation would take priority in terms of tables. Our server though efficient had absolutely no personality. He never came back to ask us how our meals were and when he brought food or drink he just put them down without a word. My other complaint is with the size of a glass of wine. One of our party ordered a glass of white wine, since I did not order wine I don't know what the size should have been, however when the wine came it was 4 ounces at best. Very poor value. That being said the food was tasty and creative so we may give it another try.
Wine is very over priced. Good food and service. A great and different place to try. My wife and I won’t be running back.
Better than the Toronto location. Food was excellent and great service!
Never disappointed with the menu selections! Food and team are amazing. Will be a go to spot for our family
We had a lot of fun! It was amazing what they had to entertain children! Colouring books, playdough and a cookie to decorate.
Our server was ok. She wasn't overly friendly. She was workinh our table and the bar. She didnt come by as often as we would have liked. And she kept for getting my two year olds drink.
Authentic barbecue with a specialty in smoke techniques. Good portions enjoyed in the dinner for 2.
Will be going back again.
This was my first time at Barque Smokehouse in Burlington and I wasn't impressed. Had Ribs, Brisket and Mac & Cheese side. Ribs were not fall of the bone, and brisket was okay but nothing special. Mac & cheese was very bland … didn't seem like any cheese in it! Two at the table had the Sampler Menu for Two, and had much more food than they could eat. I personally will not return. On the Open Table reservation I mentioned it was my sons birthday, but they did not acknowledge it at all. I will not return.
Excellent food, this is authentic BBQ. I would recommend to anyone.
This was our second visit, the first being for lunch. On this visit we were having a Father's Day Brunch. Their version of eggs benie with the citrus smoked salmon was excellent. Our next visit will be for the ribs, reputedly one of the best in Burlington.
We went to Barque’s for Father’s Day Brunch. The Barque Eggs Benedict was UNBELIEVABLE! We tried it with the brisket this time and will try the pulled pork next time. The Barque breakfast poutine was also delicious. What a great idea for a real man’s breakfast (but we girls loved it too!). The patio was lovely. A great way to celebrate the great Father in our lives.
This was our first visit and we went for Sunday Brunch. Overall, the food and atmosphere were good. However, NONE of the food arrived at our table hot, the eggs were not cooked to order, and the breakfast selections were all too sweet (even the seasoned breakfast potatoes). We would give this restaurant another try, but skip the brunch menu and go for the dinner menu.
Took the family to Barque as a reco from a friend, and had heard good things about the TO location. The meal and service did not come close to meeting expectations. Service was very slow and our order, including drinks, took way too long to come to the table, and did not come as ordered. The food was just OK. Did not meet the rave reviews. Will not be going back.
Awesome BBQ at great prices. Ribs, brisket, pulled.pork where top notch. Sides we amazing and the table fired smore was fantastic.
Fabulous!!! I had a friend who came from overseas for visit. We all had a great time at Barque because of the food quality, service, and vibe. The brisket basically just melt in your mouth. I am not a big meat lover but I would go back for that brisket for sure! We had the tableside S'Mores which was the night's highlight of everyone! The S'Mores was interesting and also not too sweet, which made it very popular among everyone!! Plenty of parking, washroom was clean, there is washing facility right in the middle of the restaurant for customer after enjoying the Barbecue dishes which is very thoughtful design.
Authentic BBQ flavour. Great value. Sampler platter for 2 could have easily fed 3. Will definitely go back 👍😁
Great place to eat the staff was really friendly and the service was good. The food was excellent the ribs and brisket were my favourite and the wings are great. Good bar menu and interesting cocktails. Highly recommended
Have been wanting to get to the original Toronto location but never managed. The Burlington location was great for us to drive to and park easily. This was a quiet midweek night for a girlfriends get together. Service was excellent, food was good, we got the sampler platter and shared which was excellent. Korean nachos were an excellent appetizer and the bbq was authentic! The sides were small portion wise (especially the asparagus considering they are in season and local are plentiful and inexpensive right now) and nothing outstanding. The smoked asparagus had nice hint of smoke but the Mac and cheese was just ok. Next time we would order different sides. They serve sparkling water as an option to regular water with no upcharge. It was a great plus for many of us that are not pop drinkers and were were driving.
I would certainly return again and would recommend it.
Had a great late lunch early dinner with my sister. Was offered the option of sparkling or still water without charge which was a nice change. The bbq was delicious I had the bbq chicken and the smoked sausage and my sister had the ribs and brisket. The brisket was melt in your mouth tender and the sausages perfectly spiced. We also had a side salad and grilled smoked asparagus which was fantastic. Service was excellent the server was attentive personable and efficient. Would definitely go back again when I am in Burlington.
The food was well prepared and delicious. The service was fast and friendly. It's our favourite restaurant for bbq. We will definitely be back!
Amazing, the waitress was amazing and the chef came out to chat with us personally about some allergies. I have never had a bad meal or experience here.
