Barolo Ratings and Reviews
Excellent foot and service and I love the decor. The only issue is the noise and specifically the music level in the dining room is unreasonably loud. Table of three we almost had to shout to hear each other. With the high ceilings and bare floor there is nothing to muffle the sound. They need to decide if they are a club or a restaurant.
Really really noisy!! I could not talk to my daughter who was only a few feet from me. The coho salmon special was fantastic - melt in your mouth but not on the menu, only for specials. I was not impressed by the desserts - we tried the poached pear and the cannoli and both were so so. For better food and atmosphere we go to La Fontana Siciliana in Belltown.
Grilled cesear salad and lamb burger are my favorite. Food overall us excellent, and I'll return for a date night with my husband. The service has improved since I was last there--friendly, professional. Lunch time was quiet, and I hope this restaurant receives it's due accolades!
Our second visit to Barolo was definitely not as good as the first. Our calamari starter was only just barely warm and the clams were loaded with sand (at least they were fresh;). Our entrees were equally unspectacular, pasta with crab was super fishy and salty, pasta w lamb ragu was too al dente and half-moon pasta with truffle was average.
Barolo is my new favorite restaurant! The food was delicious, the place is beautiful and the service is outstanding. Kevin, our waiter was amaizing, very pleasant and efficient. He really took care of us and his recommendations were really good.
My husband and I are very excited about this place and we are planning to go back soon.
My wife and I had our Friday night date-night at Barolo. The food was really good and atmosphere equally enjoyable. Our waiter was young and relatively new to the restaurant, he told us so, and as much as we would like to be compassionate to a new employee, the $$$ this place charges would expect that they should be well trained. An example of our evening, we asked a question about 2 different wines, the waiter did not know anything about the wines which we feel is ok, however he would ask the Wine steward to come and assist us with the decision & the wine steward couldn't come over, claiming too busy but suggested an up sell with no description. I have no idea why my wife and I took the suggestion.... we got caught in the moment, I guess.
It was good food, really good, however I think for a $250 plus meal we will likely try other places before we return, if we do???
We love this place and have always had great experiences here, until last night. We ordered a stuffed pasta and after biting into it we found a plastic bag in it. The appetizers and everything else were great but after chewing on a plastic bag that was left in our pasta it kind of ruined our night. We let the staff know and they were happy to take that food item off of our bill but the overall exeperience was not a pleasent one. We hope that this hasn’t happened to anyone else as this is definitely a great restaurant and hopefully my girlfriend and I will get the courage to come back.
We live downtown and have at our doorstep many new and interesting restaurants. Barolo has in the past been a favorite primarily for the ambience and location.
Our experience last Sunday was our first visit in some time and unfortunately very forgettable.
It came down to the food. My out of town guest ordered the pork shank. I had the wild boar and my wife, the Branzino.
All fell short in flavor and texture. Especially the wild boar which i could hardly chew.
Wonderful find! I had lunch at Barolo about a year ago and couldn't wait t get back. This time it was dinner with mom. Everything was top notch except for one of the cocktails which was made incorrectly. Service was fantastic. Can't wait to go back:)
Thanks, Sean P.
Food was very disappointing....special ravioli were tough, no flavour, doughy, no filling...coffee served cold, took 10 minutes to get new cup, carpacio also no flavour, no spice.. house red wine bitter and raw...presentation good, place is very atractive, and prices ok, but food needs help
The food as delicious and ample in its portions. The bottle of wine was an excellent value. Our wait staff was a perfectly attentive woman who was efficient and charming. But the sound track was absolutely dreadful- repeated tiresome drumming @ much too loud a level to talk c my dinner companions. I can not recommend this restaurant to others because of this.
Delicious food, attentive and well mannered wait staff. I left a comment on Open Table asking for an intimate table for 2 to celebrate my 40th Birthday and my husband's military deployment homecoming and we were promptly greeted with 2 menus at our table with "Happy 40th Birthday" printed on the top! Loved the special touch... shows that they care about their guests'special requests and events. Will definitely be eating there again!
The food and drinks were very good, the service was excellent, but the noise level was deafening. There was a large group of at least 20 that was seated at a long table on the opposite side of the main dining room. They were so loud and inconsiderate that it was impossible to carry on a conversation. It went on for nearly two hours - yelling at each other across the table, making loud toasts, and constantly changing seats. Our server just rolled her eyes, as it wasn't her party. Management should have done something but obviously chose not to.
One of our favorite restaurants. Normally excellent across the board. One of our three entree’s was not up to Barolo standards-it was very gritty. We mentioned this to our waiter and although sympathetic she made no adjustment to our bill. I switched meals with my wife and I was unable to eat the mushroom lasagna either. This does not change my high opinion of Barolo and we will return.
Our two-day stay in Seattle was made all the more special with a meal at Barolo. Our waitress couldn't have been more pleasant and efficient. The lobster risotto was sublime. Veal carparccio tasty and authentic. The only small negative was the background "duff duff" music. Still...well worth the visit.
