Barolo Ratings and Reviews
I’ve been here several times when we travel to Seattle. This time they gave our party of 6 a private dining area. A white curtain separated us from the other tables. Our reservation was for 7:30. By 8:15 the noise level had reduced considerably. We had eaten here previously earlier in the evening. I now understand to reserve a table later in the evening if you want to converse without yelling. I do not like the techno music, but the volume is low enough in the dining room. Good food, wine list, and service.
We went to celebrate a friend's birthday. The menus arrived with 'Happy birthday' written across the top. The server was knowledgeable and attentive, but not over the top. The food was outstanding. And they brought a beautiful dessert, complete with fire cracker as candle! We loved it!
Great food and service. The Lobster Risotto is amazing. Excellent wine choice. We celebrated our 21st anniversary. We had a specialized menu and dessert with a candle.
We were seated immediately for our reservation 20 minutes early. A great surprise wishing us a happy anniversary. Excellent service started immediately. Thank you!
Discovered this place a month ago. Loved it the first time and the second time was just as good. Their bread and tapenade is incredible and the pasta dishes are to die for! Best duck and wild boar around. They have valet parking which is a plus. Will definitely be back!!!!!
Unfortunately the music is still a disruptive loops ambient beat. Really get with the times. The awful music does not match the beautiful place and exceptional food. I visit this place less and embarrassed to bring guests just because of this one thing. Just play Billy Holiday or anything rather than techno... Please!
It is with regret that I must not recommend Barolo to my friends, nor will we return. We have dined with you often, and what bothered us was the crowd of people in the restaurant on Saturday night. In the booth next to us was a loud gentleman broadcasting around the room to other guests trying to impress everyone, with his three lady guests we suspected as not being of high character. On the other side was another rowdy table of less than desirable dining patrons we would want to be sharing the evening with.
Barolo has become a late night hangout for a young and lower caliber group that frankly ruined our evening. Add the fact is was cold inside, we won't be coming back, which is a shame given the food was outstanding. Ambiance, décor and ability to converse are required.
I was meeting a friend in downtown Seattle for dinner before we took the monorail to the opera. We wanted something nice and relaxed for an early booking (5 pm). Our waiter did an excellent job of letting us enjoy our meal but stopping in often enough so we didn't feel rushed for time. A bit pricey for what we ordered but I know I can count on good food and service in a nicely-decorated setting. It wasn't my first visit and won't be my last!
Although service was excellent , food was good but not spectacular as we had anticipated . Did not enjoy the style of music ,as it made you feel like you were in a 30s single bar rather than a 5 star dining establishment .
Flavors were enjoyable but definitely need to improve the texture of the pasta noodles and ravioli.
Overall 3.5 star
Reserved a table for 5 people, left waiting a very long time to be seated. The table we were given was not a table for 5 people, but for 4 people at most. We ended up with two of our party sitting awkwardly with the table corners sticking into them due to the compact seating. Might have been excusable if we hadn’t made a reservation. Food was great though
Had 10 friends there for my wife’s birthday dinner! Custom menu for us stating “happy Birthday”. Big presentation on desert and they stored our cake for us. Corkage fee is very reasonable. Our server was awesome, attentive and educated on the menu! Prices were very fair! Food was incredible!! Can’t wait to go back here!
We were really looking forward to a great event for our son's 40th birthday party while visiting Seattle from out of town, but unfortunately we were not overly impressed with the experience at Barolo's. Our server for a group of 12 (she needed help!) was abrupt with her presentations and take aways, and it seemed like she hardly had any time for us. Not great seating, VERY noisy, food was fair, but we were happy as a family to be there together and had a good time as a group.
We were late because of traffic and when we called to let them know the hostess was lovely and told us not to worry. The place was full but our table was waiting when we finally arrived. We now were in a rush as we only had 35 minutes to eat before leaving for the theater. Our waitress was terrific, put a rush on in the kitchen, and we had a delicious plate of mushroom ravioli in no time. We will definitely be back when we can take our time to savor all this great restaurant has to offer.
I like Barolo for the food and the service. Their staff is authentically warm and time sensitive. I arrive there via bike and they are courteous about absorbing obnoxious safety jacket and paniers into their coat closet....really lovely front desk team and nice servers.
And warm lighting, candles and cozy well done meals - I'll go back.
Food and service are excellent! I would suggest trying the Wild Boar with polenta. Amazing.
The cannoli was pretty darn close to tasting like my Grandma's recipe.
The only thing that keeps me from five stars on ambiance is the plastic chairs at the tables. They are so uncomfortable and make the place seem a little cold.
This wasn't our first time to Barolo. We've dined there a dozen times or more. Barolo offers great food in a beautiful dining room (except for the view of McD across the street!). The service is impeccable and the wine list is lovely.
We will continue to include Barolo in our dining repertoire.
(Shout out for their sister restaurant Mama Melina. Another favorite, neighborhood gem near UVillage)
This was my second time to visit Barolo and, again, it was an excellent experience. The service was friendly, cheerful and “light” - Jessica, our server, has a wonderful approach with people! The food was just perfect - fresh, cooked to perfection, and just the right portion size. I will be back!
Absolutely fabulous! My fiance ordered the lamb shank, the featured entree of the night, and I ordered the Filet de Borolo and Portobello mushroom. Both were just to die for!! The lamb was falling off the bone and by far had the most meat ive ever seen on any cut of lamb. The filet, rare, was tender and peppered to perfection. A+ on the sauce pairings as well. I wont even get started on the dessert 👌👌👌
