The staff was very courteous and the atmosphere was nice and sedate. The food was very good, especially for the price. We ordered an Italian cheesecake and it came partially frozen. He brought out another but it was terrible and we didn’t eat it. It’s really a nice little place, though and we enjoyed our dinner. Strange thing though, I gave the manager my name when I walked in to be seated, he repeated it to me and after an hour of leaving there he marked me as a no show for my reservation! After saying that I indeed dined there they reinstated my points.
Excellent in every way.
Went for a work lunch with one other colleague and will definitely go back. The pasta dish was delicious and not too heavy for a workday lunch. The atmosphere was very nice and the service was excellent.
Great foods, excellent service. Overall, great experience!
A very nice surprise on short notice. Quiet enjoyable!
Great as always!!!! I love going there! I can’t wait to return!
Excellent service, good food and a nice atmosphere make Barolo East a neighborhood favorite of ours.
Wow!! No idea why haven’t tired before but this is fantastic start to finish inc decor
Awesome place for lunch. Fast friendly service. Everything was delicious!
Wonderful dining experience. We sat outside and it was a beautiful night. Food was delicious- I had the salmon. Overall wonderful meal.
We just dined at Barolo East for the second time, party of 6. Food was even better this time! we had an order of fried calamari for the table, crisp light and fresh. Starters, tuna carpaccio, chicken livers, burrata in homemade tomato soup was outstanding. Mains, 3 orders of black pasta with swordfish and shrimp, well prepared and seasoned, pasta with clams, pounded veal chop with salad, meat tender and not heavy with breading and veal shank ragu pasta, perfect!
We asked for a white Grillo from Etna, the owner did not have it, but subbed in a similar wine and gave it to us for the price of the Grillo. Nice gesture. Service was excellent. We will continue to dine here when in the area.
Beautiful night sitting outside.
A perfect dinner with a perfect service!!!
The owner is italian and know perfectly what is talking about!!
Second visit just as enjoyable as first. John, the proprietor, makes sure every guest is greeted, seated, and completely happy with their experience at Barolo East. The ambience of the restaurant immediately sets one at ease, the attentive wait staff makes sure your comfortable and feeling welcome. By the time the food arrives, you’re relaxed and in the perfect frame of mind to enjoy the sumptuously prepared delicacies. This is fast becoming our favorite restaurant in the area. They offer a great Pre-fixe that enables you to try their many tempting selections. I encourage you to come soon because as soon as word gets out, reservations will be hard to come by!
Great neighborhood restaurant! Food, service, and ambiance were excellent. The weather was perfect and we were able to take advantage of the adorable back patio, but inside the restaurant looked very nice as well. We enjoyed the homemade pasta, great cocktails, and the fantastic wine list. Our waiter, Feim, was charming and attentive. We will definitely return!
Great food and even better wine list. Also great service.
Not very roomy - kind of cozy and thus can get loud. Perfect for sampling super-expensive super-tuscan reds....
Perfect Business dinner - staff couldn’t have been better
A fabulous restaurant offering great food and service. The outdoor garden is a special treat!
It was the first time I frequented the restaurant. I went with a large group of people and was impressed on all levels. I would definitely go back and recommend to all my friends.
We had a nice meal and the ambiance was nice. The service was good and the menu was varied enough.
It is a convenient location and I would imagine the bar is also a nice place to meet and have a drink.
Restaurant exceeded expectations. Owner was very accommodating and made sure our meal was perfect. Food was similar to what you get in Italy, fresh and tasty. We liked the vibe of the place from the moment we walked in the front door. Definitely a repeat on our next visit to NYC.
This was a wonderful find in NYC. The service was stupendous. The food was delicious. Very authentic and all of the pasta was made in-house. If this was in my hometown I would definitely be a regular. I’ll look forward to returning next time we are in the Big Apple. If you haven’t tried this place, you absolutely have too.
Excellent neighborhood Italian restaurant with great food and service. Highly recommend it
Everyone was very friendly and the food was exceptional the summer menu was an excellent value we will definitely go back every time we are in new york and we will recommend this restaurant to friends
We had a fantastic evening. We had a nice outdoor table for seven, very good food and some of the most attentive service ever!
We will be back, well done.
Saw this restaurant in our neighborhood for 1000 points, and decided it is worth a try. It is very sweet and bright, on a side street. (Has an A rating.) It is, we were told, eight months old. We were asked if we prefer inside or outside seating. Opted for outside because it was a beautiful night. Lovely courtyard. It was summer restaurant week, so we decided to order from the special menu ($39 for 3 courses). We share, so we got to taste 4 dishes and 2 desserts. The fresh (not smoked) salmon tartar with avocado and lemon was superb. Excellent Caesar salad. Dressing (ingredients listed on the menu) must have been made to order. We had to degust each ingredient in the Veal Picatta, served with a vegetable medley, and potatoes cooked to perfection. Homemade spinach fettuccine with salmon, in a savory oil and garlic sauce was our other dish. Topped it off with a cheese cake made in house. There were plenty of reasonably priced wines on the wine list to choose from.
I already have had several recommendations !
everything was terrific
food, service, ambiance and wine
we had a great time !
It was a a pleasant surprise. Very nice place. I would recommended to my friends
You’ve got to try the gnocchi, chicken Martinez and coconut gelato!!! So good! My waiter was very polite and extremely helpful! Definitely, one of my all-time favorites!
Well presented, good food. Small imaginative takes on traditional dishes. Wait staff helpful and attentive. We sat outside in the back garden. It was a beautiful afternoon lunch with an old friend. Also good for business lunches or dinners. Relaxed, relaxing but not too laid back.
I took 2 friends for lunch to celebrate a wedding anniversary. It was a beautiful day so we ate on the lovely terrace. We had the summer menu of 3 courses for $25 which was incredible value. For starters we had Gazpacho (very good), avocado salad (a generous helping) and buffalo mozzarella with tomatoes (fresh and delicious). We all had the same main course: hand made ravioli stuffed with ricotta and spinach in a tomato sauce (very tasty). The ricotta cheesecake with raspberry sauce was an excellent choice for desert (though the 'sauce' was a mere squiggle on the plate). One guest had apple strudel, which was very good. The service was attentive and friendly. The only disappointment was that we had no fellow diners, which was difficult to understand. All in all an excellent lunch.
Beautiful interior open air courtyard setting, good food, and an enjoyable experience overall
Went for dinner and had a great experience! Great food and service. We will be back
Great food, wonderful ambiance and fantastic service.
Great hospitality and outstanding food quality. Perfect gnocchi.
new restaurant; light open space with outdoor seating area. Food well prepared, beautifully presented, and most of all delicious. Attentive staff. very clean. A new neighborhood gem in an area of tired restaurants. Highly recommend.
The service was excellent ! Overall the food was very good. It was a great find.
I dined here with a visiting work colleague on the assumption that the price range indicated decent quality in mid town.
The waiters were plentiful, all male dressed in waistcoats, and very, very attentive, almost too much so. Felt like they were watching us eat.
The music in the bar was a little dated, and I was expecting something a little trendier in the bar.
The bread, burrata and the sun dried tomato dipping sauce were beautiful.
We were told of four specials, and each chose the fish, one Dory and one Branzino.
I ordered a glass of red wine - Barolo - thinking it'd be amazing given the name of the restaurant.
The wine was amazing, but so was the bill!
$180 for two of us, with that one glass of wine! The fish was $55, the glass of wine was $19, which the waiter failed to mention, and neither of the dishes were that good. Steamed veges on the side, nothing special.
There was a chalkboard outside offering 3 courses for $39, we were fools not to just get that.
Will not be returning sadly.
Went with some colleagues for their Summer Menu special - 3 courses for $25. Everything was delicious. I had the watermelon salad, the bronzino and the cheesecake and was very happy with my choices. My friends all enjoyed their meals, as well. And the price can't be beat. I'll be back, for sure.
