A historic and ancient pub-restaurant the Barn Owl is situated on the edge of rolling countryside, convenient for Torbay and the spectacular Dartmoor National Park and attractions including Paignton Zoo, Newton Abbot Racecourse and Babbacombe Model Village. With beautifully restored cosy rooms (perfect for private functions), a secluded garden and legendary hospitality the Barn Owl provides the perfect backdrop for every occasion.

    Service was poor we were shown to our table and given menus then no one came back after about 20mins with no drinks my husband went to find someone. Food took a while considering it was 4pm and there were very few people in the restaurant, when it came it was OK, nothing special. The chicken was a bit dry as had no sauce with it, the mash potatoe was tasty but only just warm and one of the pies pastry was hard. The children meal was good, it was great value and it was a large portion. The puddings were also very tasty.

    Always a warm & friendly welcome from all the staff. Good choice of food at reasonable prices. Well design layout inside You never feel rushed

    We have never had a bad meal here, staff are very friendly and helpful, food is delicious and all fresh, not your frozen rubbish! The beer garden is a lovely sun trap in the summer too!

    I have been to The Barn Owl several times over the last few months and every time the service and food has been fantastic. Whether that be a small family meal for four or a group booking for 14, nothing is too much trouble. Ignore the road works outside, when you are in the warm embrace of the surroundings and staff you will forget all about it. Definitely worth a visit!

    Great food and wine sat in front of fire, what a way to spend a Sunday afternoon! Love the fact that they are open all day and so its easy to have a tasty meal and avoid the Sunday lunch rush and carvery only option! Have booked for a party in February.

    My daughter and I decided to have dinner here on Christmas eve. The atmosphere was cozy and friendly and food was great. We wished we had thought ahead and booked to have Christmas Day lunch here, but sadly those seats went in August. One very small annoyance was the cold draft created by smokers going in an out of the back, the slow "no bang" closure meant this was prolonged on a very windy cold night! In all other respects a lovely meal and evening.

    Them eal was good value but we had to wait over 30 mins for a coffee to be told the machine was broken.
