Delicious and fun and friendly, with unusual options for dining and drinking.
A real find in a neighborhood saturated with pretentious restaurants.
Barn Joo was the perfect place for a get together with old friends. The meals there are not cheap, but the food quality was excellent and we ordered a few of the platters which were fun to grill and share.
Love the food and the new location is spacious.
Delicious and huge portions. Lovely staff.
Wonderful food and atmosphere -- Korean food for beginners. Will definitely be back! My only complaint was that my entree arrived a good 10-15 minutes after my dinner partner's entree which was a little annoying.
The food was perfectly seasoned, plated beautifully and efficiently served. The staff is extremely welcoming and pleasant. The design of the restaurant is also beautiful.
Everything great except one cold rice paper roll dish. A little bland.
I will definitely go back to Barnjoo. I had a great time and the food was a deliciously fun dining experience.
Great ambiance, cool design, very tasty food and friendly staff. Would strongly recommend.
Service was good and food was great.
I usually never leave reviews - but Barn Joo is EXCELLENT. Everyone from the host to the bar tender to the service is AMAZING at their job. Opt for the KBBQ - it exceeds expectations.
We went for a friends get-together. It was really nice because the restaurant is split into a cocktail ambience downstairs and a quiet eating area upstairs. The food isn't bad but it's not worth coming here just for the food. But if you are looking for a casual but nice restaurant to bring your date or have a get together, this is the place to be! P.S If you make a reservation, you can spin the wheel and get a free drink!
Ordered the small beef Korean bbq combo (delicious juicy tender meat) w/ egg custard and corn cheese, truffle fries, popcorn chicken, shishito peppers, tuna mayo tartare all for 3 people and we were stuffed. Everything was amazing.
Had the combination of meats. Most of it was very very good.
The only disappointment was despite having told them that it was the celebration of an 18th birthday, they chose not to recognize that at all. Lesson learnt: go just for the food!
This restaurant was exactly what we were looking for. The food and drinks tasted great and the ambiance was fun without being chaotic. A fantastic night out. The servers and hostesses were helpful, kind, and professional. A great night out!
The wait staff was pretty horrendous. My order was placed incorrectly, I waited 10mins before given fork and knives, and my order came on plates that were too small to be eaten out of (spilled a lot). It’s a shame; we had high hopes that this could be a good date spot for us. This was our fourth time and will be the last.
The fried chicken, dumplings and tacos were amazing.
I have been to Barn Joo on different occasions and have enjoyed every time I have gone. The food is amazing even for a picky eater like myself. Everything is so fresh and tasty. The servers are so knowledgeable about the ingredients and are able to make recommendations based on likes described by the patrons. I cannot wait to go again. I also found a drink I am dying to have again.
I had such a great time.
Great tasting food, very well prepared and clean!!
Short rib and uni bibimbap was SUPER delicious.
Service was very friendly, I enjoyed my dinner A LOT.
I love this place :)
Great food, great ambiance, great service.
Too hot and noisy.
Food was great! Service was wonderful. Thyme flavored soju surprisingly refreshing!
Great meal with excellent service! Tables a little tight, but otherwise great with nice ambience.
We hadn't eaten at Barn Joo since they moved "down" to w. Union Square, and they survived intact. The setting as a bit simulated-rustic (kinda works, kinda doesn't), but the food works great. The menu is big and the quality is first-rate. And the prize-wheel for patrons with reservations is still in operation...
Uneatable fried dumplings, so over cooked. They replaced with steamed. Food just ok, nothing to make me want to return. Very diner like food & service.
Waitress was very nice. Made us feel welcome and not rushed. Thank you
Excellent service all around. Food was excellent as well. I have had both the BBQ and just items from the regular menu and everything is fantastic. The only thing I would not recommend is the grilled calamari- was a lil too chewy.
Delicious food, fun energy and a cool ambiance - great for a group get together!
Every bite was delicious! And the staff was above and beyond!
Food: ordered pop cornchicken/beef wrap/spicy rice cake/truffle fries.. all were horrible.
Cocktail: Seoul cocktail tasted like water
Soju: Soju is soju
Banana Makkeli: Wrong description. They straight up sell bottle one and it's 3% alcohol content, not 14% like they advertise
Overall: Love the ambient, however food was horrible. I would not recommend.
Best Korean BBQ experience I've had in NYC! Great for a group! Will definitely be back!
Fun spot. So noisy you can’t really talk. But hey the food was good.
I went with a group to Barn Joo for lunch. The service was awful and we had to flag down the waiter to even order. My entire party received their meals except for me. The waiter came over asking if I was in a rush because he forgot to put in my order. I had the sushi burrito with fries - this took 20 plus minutes to make. He did not comp my order or offer me anything for my wait.
Awful service I will not be returning.
Since moving locations, Barn Joo’s service has been lacking. They still need to find their groove in this new space.
Korean BBQ was fun to cook at the table and tasted great! However, temperature control was a major issue. It was very warm in the restaurant, so once we got upstairs with all the grills on, it was very uncomfortable. We sweat through our entire meal and even I tried to fan myself with a menu to try to stay cool. I know it wasn't just our table either – we saw other people fanning themselves as well. If the restaurant kept the temperature lower to accommodate for the grills, I think it would be a much more pleasant dining experience (again – food was great!). Also, service was nice but extremely slow (perhaps a result of a lot of full tables and not a lot of waiters/servers). Will come back to give it another shot though!
It has become my goto place for entertaining friends visiting the city. The service and the food is always excellent and consistent. You must try their Uni bibimbop. It is out of this world.
Pub food with a Korean flair. Everything pretty great except the price tag at the end, it's a little expensive.
It was amazing!!
