We came on a Saturday night. Our drinks were good, but our meal was mediocre. My roasted chicken (with bone-in) was extremely dry and the brussel sprouts were barely seasoned. At $22 for the chicken, this was a huge disappointment. My husband enjoyed his burger, however. The design interior is lovely, but sets you up to expect better quality dinner.
Great place for brunch! The food was fabulous along with the service and price!!
Too loud, much too loud. Outdoor seating experience ruined by construction noise
Service is lacking. Food made up for it slightly.
Wonderful, attentive staff---sense of humor, too. Appetizers especially delicious, especially the prosciutto and "donut" dish recommended by our waitress---who knew the menu and the wine selection well. Kudos.
Excellent service and food was food. Watch out for the Manhattan’s because the drinks are half pours and very sweet. We had to order side pours of bourbon to mix in for the drink to be acceptable. Then food was fine and service was better.
All around EXCELLENT!
I normally come here for lunch or happy hour. I noticed all the good reviews for brunch, so I decided to give it a shot. I wanted a more relaxed feel for my birthday brunch and this place has that vibe. I had the truffle mac and cheese as a starter and it did not disappoint. I followed that up with the mushroom and spinach omelet. I'm not normally a big fan of omelet’s but this one was delicious and filling. Service was friendly but not very timely, it was a busy Sunday and we were a group of 6 so that might have been the issue. Overall, I would come again and would recommend to a friend.
The atmosphere was great, food was delicious and I had a really great time. The service was excellent and staff very attentive.
Excellent food and service. Wish I lived closer—would go more!
First time visiting for brunch. Service was incredibly good and the food was delicious. I especially liked the kale salad and brussel sprouts. The breakfast pizza was okay - could have been more flavorful - and the pancakes were just the right amount do sweet. But, above all, our waiter was friendly, helpful and entertaining. Would definitely recommend this place.
Restaurant is ok but nothing spectacular. Pizza was good.
I am pretty sure my companions chicken sandwich was precooked or old. Definitely not fresh. The fries were lukewarm, to coolish. The only shredded cheese in the kitchen is mozzarella? No grater? The special steak tacos were very grisly and sinewy, not to mention devoid of steak. No one came to check on us to see how the meal was. Quite disappointing. The restaurant was less than 1/4 full so not sure why a loud table of 4 was seated next to us when there were about 10 other empty tables.
There was nothing off-putting about our experience at Barley Mac. We had a great meal, with great service. And i do not intend to knock it at all with a 4 star rating... people just give out 5 stars too easily. You should definitely check this place out if you are in the Rosslyn/Courthouse area. So many of Arlington's restaurants along the metro-line are either sports pubs, or trying to be chic, and move into small plate-style dining... Barley Mac was refreshing in that it is a traditional restaurant that doesnt try to do something that its not good at. My family and I will definitely be going back. Try the Ahi Tuna Bruschetta - quite a delicious appetizer.
First of all, the place was way too noisy. We could barely speak to each other. The food was just OK. The prime rib was ok but not awesome, and wasn’t even very hot.
The salad with salmon was again just OK. Nothing spectacular.
Service could have been more attentive.
Came in with 10MM acq offer, party countered 17, closed at 11.2. Wife claims “worst valentines ever”, account’s senior partner begs to differ.
Met a coworker here - decent but a bit loud for conversation. Decent happy hour deals, but wouldn't pay full price outside that range. Waitress was nice and friendly. Food served fast.
Fantastic food, excellent service. A great place for dinner
We had a nice lunch with an old friend. Food was very good. Walnut coffee cake dessert was exceptional. A bit disappointed that brunch menu items were not available (such as Eggs Benedict).
Service and food were excellent. I can’t believe I haven’t discovered this until now. And very reasonably priced!!
I was looking forward to trying this restaurant, and overall had a fair experience.
They sat us in the corner by the restrooms, and I asked to be somewhere else..but they didn’t seem to have anywhere else. Apparently the empty table Ina better location was saved for someone?
Our waiter gave us great service overall. The food was fair. The truffle Mac and cheese had too much truffle, and I love truffle. It also had no flavor other then too much of the truffle.
Their mimosas were three dollars!! Definitely recommend!
Great for a business meeting
Great service and very welcoming. I enjoyed the drinks and the food
Great food and service!
Great drinks and atmosphere.
Ordered meatballs.... the meatballs was still cold on the inside
Really good brunch pizza and Coccini
Good value food and service
Desert was awesome. Highly recommend the smores. Main dishes only okay for the high price. Service was good.
Great service and food!
Great for business.
Great food! Kelcie was an awesome server. Disappointed to hear the calamari is no longer available.
Our service was fantastic. Got great recommendations. Overall a great meal and first time for the majority of us. We will definitely be back!
Overall pretty good, but the chicken salad sandwich was disappointing with too much bread and not enough chicken.
Great time at Barley Mac. We split the Black Walnut Risotto which was so delicious (and rich!) we also had the Duck Confit Angel Hair. The the pasta was good, albeit it was like eating separate dishes on the same plate. Still good though. Great atmosphere for a date.
Service was top notch. Food was delicious.
Considering there aren't too many happy hour spots in this area this one is a great option. The happy hour deals are good and the food is even better! Sat at the bar but service was great. A bit loud so don't expect to have quiet conversation between prime hours if you're not seated at a table.
We went here to celebrate a birthday, and had a wonderful time. The food was excellent, and the service was outstanding. We'll definitely go back.
Russian server was extremely cold and inattentive. Probably stopped by maybe once every 40-50 min. At the end of dinner we probably waited at least 30 min with no drink and food in front of us before we could even request our check. I was a server for years and can't imagine treating my customers the way she did.
Ordered a few appetizers and the truffle mac and cheese came out and was not only Luke warm, but extremely bland tasting. We had to wait almost 30 min for our waitress to even realize something was wrong with the food, since she never bothered to even come by and check how everything was when it was delivered (delivered also by someone else in the kitchen). When informed that the mac and cheese was less than desirable, she acted like it was our problem. Not only was there no apology for the cold and bland food, we asked if we could replace the item with something else. When we finally received the replacement item, it was brought out by yet another person, who again made so effort to remedy or apologize for the earlier situation.
Overall the food was so-so at best, but the service was honestly some of the worst service I have experienced in this area. I ate here a while back for brunch and gave them benefit of the doubt that they were busy, but I see now that this is the rule here, not the exception.
