A veritable cultural and culinary paradise in the foothills of Mount Macedon – just forty minutes by car from Melbourne – Baringo sets the bar high for food, drink and entertainment.
Set in the former – and sensitively restored – Whistlestop Pub along Station Road in New Gisborne, a satellite of Gisborne township served by the Bendigo railway line’s Gisborne station (right next door), the only clue to the gastronomic chops on offer at Baringo is the shaded alfresco seating area out front.

For us, the kitchens and counters are where the magic happens, with The Baringo Provedore offering cafe culture and the opportunity to stock up from the deli, a wine bar stocked with domestic and international vintages, and fine dining options with western dishes to suit every palate..

    Four of us met for a Friday lunch and opted for the "Lunch Specials" - 2 for the gnocchi and 2 for the chicken. The first course was a shared platter of antipasto: the freshest prosciutto, salami, preserved vegies and the best roasted, preserved champignons (which they make themselves) that I've ever tasted. I found the gnocchi was excellent and the seafood sauce very tasty. One of the others who had the chicken said that it was very succulent but thought that the balsamic (?) dressing was a bit out of character. My main complaint that it left no room for dessert! We'll be back to try more from the ala carte menu

    I’ve been to Baringo the first time for a fundraiser in the function room. Then I organised a luncheon for 6...3 couples Then organised a ladies luncheon both on a Sunday we all loved the place, food and service. Look forward to our next time at Baringo. Thankyou

    Food was delicious. Service was a little slow and also noticed a few wait staff hanging around the counter while we were waiting but the food and wine was very tasty. Would definitely recommend this place but if you are in a rush, probably not the best place to go.

    My daughter and I had a wonderful time. We shared entree dishes x2 and thought we would order more. Didn’t need to quantity and quality of food was excellent. We will be back. Service was good. Location super good

    This was our first time dining here, the food was amazing, the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a lovely anniversary dinner here and will definetely return.

    A great place for a quiet dinner for two, or a grand meal for 20. Excellent food, a huge range of wine for every budget and grest service. And they are great people to deal with. Highly recommended .

    The only issue is the fact that if there are 3 people (as we were) ALL 3 have to partake of the $40 for 4 courses. Personally, I believe that since that is a share dinner, why couldn't 2 people have it whilst the 3rd. ordered Ala Carte? After all had there been just the 2 of us, they would have done the $40 for 4 courses for us!

    We were seated very near a noisy table of women when there were lots of spare tables that would have been more pleasant for us especially as we were celebrating our anniversary. Overall the atmosphere was pleasant, quite modern which is not my taste but still nice. The staff were excellent. We didn't have to wait very long for our food and the food was really nice. I did think the desserts were very small for the price.
