Recommended in the MICHELIN Guide for California 2021-2023. Located in Oakland’s historic Grand Lake District, Bardo is a neighborhood lounge and restaurant inspired by the comfort and camaraderie of a mid-century dinner party. Drawing on the celebration and elegance of old school entertaining, we envisioned a space for friends and neighbors to enjoy amazing food, cocktails, conversation and great music.

Our lounge is a swank living room, furnished with hand-picked finds from antique and vintage markets from Palm Springs to Portland. Our mezzanine dining room features a rotating menu of fresh, seasonal supper-fare with local and sustainably sourced meats, fish and produce. While we think the food, drinks and atmosphere are all great reasons to visit us, it’s the relationships with our friends, neighbors and guests that is the driving force behind Bardo.

Dining with friends? You can't go wrong with our family style Dinner Party Menu. We include an array of house selected apps, mains and desserts from our current seasonal menu. All dishes are meant to be shared among your whole group. Sample a little or a lot of whatever meets your fancy! It's a great way to dine and depending on the night, Chef Amol might stop by your table for a little visit! Such a fun experience. Loved the live jazz downstairs. We enjoyed the tasting menu, but a few of the dishes were lacking a bit in depth and creativity. The steak was fantastic, and was the star of the show. The summer salad was disappointing, as the lettuces were not as crisp and as fresh as they should be. Dessert was a 10/10! Service was attentive and friendly.

Very thing was delicious. Mingling flavors were perfectly paired. The meatballs and deviled eggs were something to return for.

This place is wonderful! Not only is the food fabulous but the decor is outstanding. A feast for both the eye and mouth. We went with the Chef's menu and loved how there were a few little surprises between courses. There was plenty of food for all of us.

A group of us had a lovely dinner at Bardo! Emma was an amazing server and and the delicious cocktails and food made the night one to remember! Highly recommend booking for a group or a date night!

This is literally my favorite place to be in Oakland!! After moving here from Chicago, I’ve been so thrilled to find a place with some of the most amazing food I’ve ever eaten, the sexiest ambiance and amazing service 🤗
