Bardea Food & Drink
2nd time.Loud and crowded. Service really slow. I mean super slow. Food was good though!
Over priced for portions and pasta not done well (some noodles were completely hard). Didn’t finish our meal.
Great experience, not for the faint of heart; if looking for a quiet romantic evening. But the food and service was wonderful! The small plate/bistro experience, placed us back on our Parisian honeymoon 12 years ago! Thank you!!
Great restaurant, excellent food!
Absolutely love this place though I've only been a couple times. However, this time I got a shock with the bill. I was there with a colleague and we ordered fish and several vegetable appetizers in addition to one cocktail and two glasses of wine. Originally, I ordered the Bronzino hoping to split it. The waitress mentioned that it would be a little small the split between two people and suggested a larger fish. He said sure go ahead and ordered it. It was absolutely delicious. When the bill came, and it was $175, I almost fell off my chair. I realize now that the larger fish was meant for four people. I wish the server had told me this so I could ask what the price was or have the option of still ordering. This will not that me from going back to your restaurant because I actually think it's the best in town and even the best in the region. Feels great to get that unfortunate issue off my chest :)
Way too loud, way too expensive. We even were charged for water. But, I should note, the restaurant was very crowded and
The moment we entered the door we knew it was going to be a good evening. The food was wonderful. Our server John was gracious and helpful and helped add to the ambience. Wonderful spot for an anniversary. As an added note everyone to include the chef came by to greet us at the table.
The atmosphere was welcoming and warm. Service was excellent and the server was able to answer all of our questions without flinching. Sound level was low.
All that was grand and the food was excellent one of the best that we have had and plan to go back. 5 stars
Bardea was just great - shared plates and the food was delicious. I had papardelle with lamb bolognese and was very good. Had a shared crispy salad and seared scallops Sauce on the scallops was very good.
Drinks and food selections were way more than memorable as was the impeccable service from tha valet parking with our ailing friend with a cane to the fast service pre concert at the Grand! Am looking forward to a return visit!
Hoping to get back again soon, perhaps mid-week when it may not be as crowded and a little less noisy. Even so the food and service were fantastic
Great place. very good food. Nice atmosphere. Just a little loud in there. Could try to do something with the acoustics to dampen the noise a little bit (too many hard services sot the noise bounces around - for example, put some acoustical noise dampening devices on the ceiling).
The restaurant is entirely too noisy. It’s almost impossible to carry on a conversation. Also, our food came out very inconsistently. Our waiter knew that we had show tickets and we had to rush near the end because of the food delivery timing.
I found the cooking here to always be brave and creative. Probably the finest restaurant in Wilmington, nearly everything on the menu is worth having. It can be loud inside, but it’s worth it.
The food is fantastic! Totally deserving of their James Beard nomination!
Everything was delicious, popping with flavor. The pizza is outstanding, complex flavor in the dough, perfect topping (we got the upside down pizza) and so light and crispy. The hamachi crudo was perfect and the delicious passion fruit sauce was amazing. Whole bronzino roasted whole and crispy with a spice mix that was addictive. Roasted thumbina carrots were also outstanding. Very good service. We will be back!
Hands down one of the best restaurants in Wilmington. Try their seasonal fish.
Really continued poor unfriendly service.
We've always had great meals and service at Bardea. I mentioned on our reservation that we were celebrating an anniversary at the restaurant, and we were given even better-than-normal attention and care. From the host congratulating us to personalized messages on our menu, it was something both my wife and I appreciated. Definitely try the lamb skewers.
Evening began with cocktails at the bar for @ 25 minutes. Excellent atmosphere with lots of interesting craft cocktails to choose from. Reservation for 2 was ready on time and the dining room is beautifully decorated with a modern warm feel. Food was AMAZING !! Smaller portions, which were nice for really enjoying the food, but enough to share four or more selections comfortably. Service was spot on and the waiters knowledge of the dishes was astounding. The dining room is a bit noisy, but in an open concept sitting area it tends to lean that direction. All in all it was a fantastic dinner and I will surely be back soon !
Phenomenal food and service. One of the best in Wilmington!
A step above, every experience at Bardea has been extraordinary!
Birthday dinner for mom. Have been several times and always love it. Ricotta gnocchi are to die for. Get both toasts always. Scallops fantastic. Squid ink tagliolini is a show stopper dish. They do an amazing job with the attention to detail on every plate leaving the kitchen.
Use to live in Wilmington 6 years, came back to visit friends. Wished this place had been there 6 years ago, great place and food!
Reataurant was busy with a large event in the street outside
We were sat at the table closest to the bar where a long line of people from the event were standing in line to use the restroom
Not a very comfortable location
Time of food should be at the diners convenience not the kitchens
The food is delicious but my wife had to watch me eat for 20 minutes before her food came
Love this place but a bad experience this time
We will be back because we love the place and everyone has a bad night
Amazing. Had drinks and snacks at the bar before AND after dinner, meals was amazing bar and table service were incredible. The food deserves all the praises it has received, definitely try the pork belly, calamari, and oysters.
It was way to loud to carry on a conversation but besides that it was nice.
Amazing service and food . Highly recommend
Fantastic service and great food. We ordered the restaurant week menu and it was delicious with a lot great choices. Will be going back for another dining experience soon
Tried Bardea during restaurant week. The food was not great. Appetizers were run of the mill. Pasta dishes were small portions and lacking flavor. Dessert which is usually my favorite was so bad we ate two bites and gave up on. They have an extensive list of wines, but no flavor profile descriptions to help you decide what to get. A big let down overall.
Amazing food! Great staff. Place is really nice. Great date night. Portions small but like Italian fine dining. Noise level is very high. Hard to talk. I did go on restaurant weekend and it was packed. I would definitely go back.
Out server was awesome, very knowledgeable, and attentive. The two top tables were a bit cramped and small but we made it work. The food was of excellent quality, very creative, and well priced. There wasn’t any price gouging on wine bottles, which was most impressive. Wine list was very nice. The restaurant was very nicely designed. All around nice place. Highly recommend.
Restaurant week was an excellent value. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Menu had lots of options. Food was delicious.
Went for my girlfriends birthday and got the chefs 3 course tasting! Really delicious food and great atmosphere!
Brandywine Restaurant Week... Unfortunately the only time I can afford to eat here because it's amazing!
Our server did not tell us specials, ask us if we had questions, didn't check back much. Food was incredible.
The food is usually good when we eat here. There are still some hits and misses however. 75 dollars for a small fish for 2 people is outrageous no matter what restaurant you are in. Again, servers don't come around often enough to find out if you need another drink - same problem as before. Extremely noisy, they really need to try and do something about the noise level. Everyone in the restaurant is basically yelling to try and talk over the noise level. Most of the dishes are delicious
we love bardea - the roasted (sous vide) chicken is one of the best dishes you will find anywhere! i hestitate to tell everyone how great the food is for fear we will have a harder time getting a reservation! cocktails and wines are great, sometimes we make a whole meal out of sharing multiple small plates, the pizza is wonderful and their servings of whole fish are outstanding - honestly everything on the menu is good.
This is the second time we've been to Bardea. It was even better the second time. We ordered several small plates and our table shared shared them as well as two pizzas. Everything was great !
No matter how great the food is at any restaurant, the service makes the meal special. We had a group of 8 and were very well taken care of. We had the perfect amount of attention with great recommendations for a mixed group. The attitude of the staff was to make your meal yours and share to experience all the flavors of Bardea...and we did and had a great time doing it. The food was superb and only outdone by the overall experience because the staff was so fun and attentive. The shared small plates of lamb, wagyu barbacoa, and scallops were truly memorable. Small pizzas were perfectly cooked to get us to our main course...a whole roasted parrot fish perfectly done to melt in your mouth. The celery root pave was a great compliment. You better save room for dessert...it is no afterthought there. I cannot wait to go back.
excellent food and service. Noise level very high and unpleasant.
