BARCOA Agaveria is a basement bar that celebrates the spirits of Mexico. Serving imaginative craft cocktails and a vast list of agave spirits, BARCOA is often described as "vibey," "sexy," and "the time of my life" (says some dude from Mesa). Agave spirits such as tequila, mezcal, bacanora, raicilla, and sotol, are the stars here, available as flights, neat pours, or however you like.

Reservations are only available for the basement bar. Please reference the Basement Bar Menu. Above BARCOA, check out the Cantina, a casual back-alley mezcal and tequila bar that serves affordable classic cantina cocktails, and the cheery patio, which features Provecho taco truck. Pop out anytime during your visit and bring food down to the basement.

BARCOA can be tricky to find. We're located on the southeast corner of 1st Avenue & Roosevelt, in the historic red brick building. Don't worry, you're not lost. It's just poor directional signage that the City refuses to fix.

    I booked on a night that there was a private event going on plus a couple other things outside. My friend and I sat downstairs at the first table, were ignored for 8min and it smelled like sewage. Understandably it was very busy with the private events and probably didn’t need us weighing the service down. We ended up going to another bar so we don’t know about food/price/drinks/ect.

    Spend a good 2.5 hours and server only came to us twice. He also kept forgetting our drink orders which cause us to go directly to the bar to get ourselves and put on the tabs. He did not care that we kept mention the forgotten drinks. His lack of customer service did not make a great impression on the establishment and their reputations for good drinks.

    Amazing experience with Grant! He was a true Tequilla aficionado. We learned a lot that night! Would recommend this for a small or large party. The bar had a great vibe! I can’t wait to go back.

    A true agaveria, Barcoa pays homage to the spirit of Mexico with innovative cocktails and an impressive selection of agave spirits. Whether you're new to the world of agave or have been a fan for years, this is the place where you can come to get your fix! The decor, music, and libations had me thinking that, for a split second, I was back in Oaxaca or Mexico City. I will most definitely be back!

    The best agave spirit offerings I have ever seen. On top of that, the staff is highly knowledgeable and has great recommendations. Their flight offerings are out if this world and bring a taste of what agave spirits are to a true connoisseur.

    Such a bizarre experience, definitely sit at the bar if you can. The entire vibe of this place is “we’ve tried the best tequila and mezcal so we can tell you about it” — our server was literally offended that I asked her for a recommendation. I said my boyfriend and I wanted to do a mezcal tasting, so we’d order a flight. She said they didn’t do that but a solid 15% of their menu is flights. We ordered a flight, she gave a shot. It was so bizarre it was wild. This place was closed for two weeks this month to explore new alcohols and where they came from…how do your servers not know anything?

    Hands down the best Agave bar in Arizona. If you love Agave visit this place. The team there are extremely knowledgeable on the products served. The cocktail specialist are top notch. Grant Gardner education info is amazing. He made our tasting experience like no other. We had 15 people and they all agreed the experience is 5 stars PLUS.

    Cocktail server was on top of our needs! Receptionist was very nice! Everyone who would walk by us would ask if we were ok or if we needed anything. Amazing experience ❤️. Drinks were very good! The Paloma by far the best! They even used actual Squirt!!!! Loved it!!!!!

    Drinks were pretty good. Service was slow and the hostess seemed annoyed to be dealing with us. Music in the underground bar was lacking energy. Has great potential, just needs some livening up with staff and ambience.

    This was an completely unexpected experience. Our waiter was so patient with the variety of tequila drinkers at our table - we have people completely new to the idea that tequila is meant for anything but shots as well as seasoned experts. He would ask us about our flavor profile, make suggestions as well as tips for how to most enjoy each tequila. It was inspiring and I can say for the first time ever I actually appreciate tequila! The food truck was excellent and he even suggested a drink to pair with the churro. Really fun experience!

    Great location with good parking space, great ambience, good music playing ,not too loud and the drinks were yummy tried the ponche 2.0 and margarita. Their menu looks pretty enticing. Service wasn’t stellar though. Rated 1 star on the food but that’s just because we didn’t try anything and couldn’t leave it blank. Would give it another chance because it’s a cute gem , loved it overall 💎🖤 and I love the intention of the business. Oh and I love the fact that they keep you physically active by stair climbing when you have to use the wc 😝 PS bring a marker 🖊

    David and the team at BARCOA are excellent. I've been there for a large business event, small date night and with a group for Mezcal tasting and all of the experiences were fabulous. The vibes throughout the venue give you the feel of being in Mexico and the variety of Mezcal is impressive. We're looking forward to going back soon!

    Loved the overall look and ambiance, but it was super inconvenient to not have the same drink menu upstairs and downstairs with not communication about it while making a reservation. The service did not feel inviting. It felt like we were bothering the workers. The bouncer was amazing! Made us excited to be there and super friendly. It would take a lot for me to want to come back.

    Bartender was a wealth of knowledge. Explained to him what I like to drink and he narrowed in what, in the tequila, I liked and provided wonderful other tequilas to try. Cool spot. Wasn’t busy when we went so got more attention and time to talk with the bartender.

    Our waitresses was extremely slow and was not sociable with our group. We felt abandoned and neglected. We made the best of our night despite the lack of timely service and expensive drinks that did not taste well. #it looked better on TIK TOC. Me and my crew will not be going back anytime soon. The door security lady was SUPER cool 😎 and what the CREPES had a cart out side serving patrons and their crepes were amazing delicious.
