The food was quite good and the service was outstanding. It's a little overpriced but worth it for the nice atmosphere if it's not too crowded.
Barclay’s is consistently a great spot for quality food and drink. Service this time with Emma was exceptional. The three of us having a business meeting had a very good experience.
Easter Brunch was fantastic! Everything was fresh from the eggs to the cheesecake. Especially enjoyed the service. It was a great afternoon for all ages and all tastes.
Food was decent, not overly fancy or high end. Good enough. We left satisfied.

Group of 7 friends. Food, service and atmosphere all really good. Ambient noise level is as a bit high for our group but they have a low tolerance for noise.
We were a table of four and really enjoyed the live jazz. The food was good too and the menu had a variety of interesting things listed. We appreciated the GF notations as well.
Great food. Enjoyed music. Capture what makes the restaurant unique. Music was phenomenal. They should do live music more often.
The atmosphere was great. It was vibrant and colorful. The live jazz music was very good and our service was great.
The occasion, Barclay's was paying tribute to when the resturant's name was Philander's. They not only featured a few menu specials from the Philander days, they also brought back live jazz music, which was outstanding. The place was packed, just like the Philander days. I used to frequent Philander's every Friday and Saturday for the live jazz, the food and the people and I'm sure the reason Barclay's was so lively was because of those days from the past. I truly think Barclay's should give some serious thought is to what just occurred this past Saturday and incorporate what made Philander's so popular " in the day," with they currently have. This is coming from an Oak Parker for more than 40 years, who truly enjoys eating out and listening to good music.
Barclay's was great. Tried the fish and chips this time. Was expecting 2-3 small pieces but got one very large piece. Hardly needed any seasoning; it was very delicious. The wine was very good. Excellent service, as always. A good night.
GREAT GREAT GREAT FLAVOR! I had the Shrimp & Grits. The sauce they put in this dish had me stuffing my face before i finished chewing. I loved how they chop up the shrimp and put enough pieces in the grits. It's little bitty chunks of shrimp. My date had the bacon wrapped meatloaf with sauce on the side. The sauce that comes with that dish makes the dish COMPLETE. If you're coming here for the first time, I highly recommend the Shrimp & Grits. Oh.....ANNNND... The French fries r perfectly seasoned!! I can't wait to go back.
Excellent! Was worried because our usual staff wasn't on duty. However, we had very good service. It proves that Barclay's makes great effort to ensure a pleasant and delicious dining experience.
The prime rib was tough and under cooked. It was very disappointing because we had it a couple years ago and it was great back then. Not any more.
We come here very often. The wait staff is great. I've never had a bad experience.
I can't recommend this restaurant. Waiter asked if I wanted my pork chop medium rare... what?!!! I said I wanted the pork cooked. It was way overcooked. Shrimp and grits were average. Chose to pass on dessert. This could be a good place but it needs to update decor and cooking style.
Great for every day dining. Bit on the noisy side when crowded. Good bar, food select is ok.

Maura was our server she made us feel at home. The food was really flavorful. We had a large party and things couldn’t have gone smoother. The chefs specials seemed like the way to go, very seasonal.
The food here was ok, but with so many dining options in the city, I would look for a more interesting choice. My wife said her ribs were tender and good, and my bacon wrapped meatloaf was above average, but the person who ordered shrimp and grits wasn't happy with the size of the "so-called" tiger shrimp. And our other diner thought the mushroom flatbread could have had more mushrooms.
Barclay's put on a fabulous Thanksgiving buffet! Exceptionally prepared dishes - everything was very fresh. Enjoyed it very much.
I had to make a very last minute reservation for my mom's birthday after her friend had to cancel on her due to an emergency. We live 30 minutes away from each other so this was a good halfway point for us both. She used to live in Oak Park / River Forest, so she knew that this would be a good place to go and I took her word for it.
She wasn't wrong - the staff was incredibly attentive to the fact that it was my mom's birthday (and that the time spent would be important to us both). We were greeted with a "Happy Birthday" and my mom was impressed that she was greeted that way (a "win" for me!).
Our waitress was the sweetest - she was attentive to our needs and made sure our food came out in a staggered way so that I could spend as much time as possible with my mom before driving back home. She did not rush us and allowed us to catch up and spend time together - I really appreciate that.
The food was really great - we each got a salad and tried the spinach artichoke dip as an appetizer. Everything was satisfying and the portions were manageable.
I haven't been to Oak Park's downtown since I was a kid and now that I live downtown, I will definitely make the trip to Barclay's now that I know how great it is!

Loved that they observed my husband's birthday which I noted on my OT reservation with a free dessert and no singing waiters.
Our server was friendly and drinks were pretty good. She had the fish and I had the delmonico steak. They weren't good. Steak was bland and poor quality. Our desserts saved the outing. Creme brulee and death by chocolate
Excellent appetizers that we usually skip because the entree servings are so substantial. Wine selections were top shelf. Enjoyed the meal and the evening.
Do not order the mac and cheese! Great patio! Great Service!
The restaurant is a gem. But unfortunately, the parking situation in the area is horrible. We spent a lot of time driving around trying to find a spot. And the friends we met at the restaurant - one came in while the other was still driving around trying to find a spot. Then the waitress told us that you could park in The Carlton parking lot. Might be a good idea to let folks no this on the website. My
concern is this restaurant might close because people will avoid the parking situation. But a parking lot opens up the dining experience.
Bartenders are the BEST!!! This is the best Sports Bar in the Oak Park/River Forest area.

This is one of Oak Park's hidden gems. The food is constantly fantastic and I don't think I have ever had anything I didn't like. its a quite atmosphere you can actually hear the other person speaking and just plain enjoy the company. They do have a typical bar with TV's and can be a nice quite spot to watch the game so you don't have the obnoxious drunks making it unpleasant. I do recommend a ice cold beer paired with the loaded tater tots. I then would finish it off with a rack of ribs. These ribs would rival any BBQ house out there! The best think to do is to just try it out and make your own decision. I promise you won't be disappointed.
Love the pretzel crusted trout! Chef makes me a special sauce without onions!!

My family and I ate there and were disappointed. The menu sounded good but the execution was subpar. My wife had the prime rib which was okay, but the vegetables (squash and zucchini) were undercooked and tasted bland. My fish dish was fine. My daughter got the $14 burger on the menu and the shoestring onions she ordered were white and barely cooked. My youngest ordered the kids cheeseburger which makes the McDonald's one look big. We also ordered a side of brussel sprouts with bacon and caramelized onions, but the sprouts were hard and didn't have any caramelization (definitely undercooked). For over $100, it definitely wasn't worth the value and the execution from the chef was not on the details. On the positive, the waitress was very nice. There are too many other better restaurants in Oak Park that are either lesser expensive with better food.
My fish was done properly but my wife's pork-chop was dry. Food was a bit on the salty side.

First visit and it was a pleasant one. We arrived shortly after they opened and were seated immediately with pleasant conversation with staff. Wine list is adequate and menu options, while not huge, are interesting. We had two large appetizers and shared a dinner. More than ample for the two of us and we have pretty good appetites. It's a quiet and gracious atmosphere suitable for conversation with no need to rush. We will return.

We went there for Easter Brunch. They never informed me we might be in a room across the lobby with a long walk back and forth to get our food. My mother walks with a cane and gets short of breath. It was hard to carry her food and mine so she could walk. A lot of the food was dry. I enjoyed the goat cheese ravioli and our server was great. The space the food was in was too small and did not have a good flow. I left tired and frustrated.
