Lovely dishes and excellent service
Wedding dinner reception for 8 people
Food was excellent. Great drink menu as well. If you like gin and tonics, that's their specialty.
This place is consistently excellent in the quality of food, creative and elegant. Their staff always warm and friendly. It is my go to place before or after concerts, birthdays and just for a bite and drinks.
Not very authentic Spanish food- I've been to Spain. Mostly, the chairs (the low ones) are VERY uncomfortable. Sitting for a leisurely meal wasn't very relaxing - no matter the amount of liquor consumed. We had an 8:30pm reservation and arrived early and were seated immediately which was great. BUT... we started with one waiter and then barely into ordering our meal he introduced another waiter and said he was taking a break. Then later he came back and took over. The waiter that stepped in for him was rushed and it felt ackward all around.
Fabulous in all categories! Superior food and many choices! Going back in two weeks! Highly recommend!
Really good location for symphony. Service attentive; oysters great and other food OK. Background music totally unneeded and contributed to the excess noise.
This place has the best paella! It is hard to eat any other paella after this place.
The hostess that particular evening was not very friendly, our server was ok. I asked him for a particular gin drink that I had there last year and he gave me a not so friendly reply of "when was the last time you were here, umm that was like 2 years ago" I really didn't want to argue with him, I wanted to have a good time with my friends. I guess he wanted us to buy a bottle or something, which we would have but he was so flippant towards us that we changed our mind. In the middle of our meal they switched our server and we never got one of our orders. I asked our new server where is the octopus that we ordered, he told us he would check and we never heard back about the octopus. I didnt feel like asking about it anymore we were already full from the meal we ate. We got desert and left, we wont back until you guys work on your customer service, being nice is not uncool and is part of your chosen profession.
Great food and cocktails! Get the octopus - yum! Love the ambience and easy to get to by public transportation. Didn’t love the wines but the rose sangria was lovely! Will be back
Server knew NOTHING about wine.; he insisted on only describing as "light, medium, or full bodied" and could not answer questions that strayed from that immature, unhelpful format. Patatas were undercooked and used russet potatoes, resulting in a grainy texture. Kind of lukewarm, too. Won't be back.
Accidentally deleted my reservation the day of and wasn't able to remake it via OpenTable so I left a voicemail for the restaurant. They returned my call early morning and reinstated the reservation for me. Was seated at a booth which was quiet enough for conversation. Tapas dishes were good though some were harder to share than others (although how to share 2 octopus tentacles?) and were not inexpensive. Standout dessert was the churros served with cinnamon whipped cream and a milk chocolate sauce. I was surprised that the chocolate sauce didn't work that well with the churros. Maybe if it was a dark chocolate? Flavors were fun and food was well executed. Staff is fantastic. Thank you for going above and beyond Absinthe Group!
Went bar for cocktails the next night since it had a great feel to the place.
The food was excellent but the service rushed. Mains arrived before the appetizers were cleared. Not ok at any price and especially at these!
Even though we told waiter we had to leave by set time, once dish never came and the waiter wasn’t keeping us appraised. We left having only had 2 tapas instead of 3 and it wasn’t the meal we’d planned on.
Nice food and the pricing doesn’t
Break the bank
Tried the vegetarian paella for the first time and enjoyed it. Only suggestion would be to have fewer potatoes and possibly add some varieties of mushrooms!
Get in early to enjoy happy hour. The meatballs and bistec were delicious. We needed extra bread to get every last bit of the sauces.
Barcino’s version of a Negroni was perfect accompaniment to all the dishes we tried.
Food and service were excellent. Loved the salad with avocado and cucumbers and the tortilla (egg and potato omelette) the best. Great place for dinner before jazz or symphony
Food is fabulous and the atmosphere is relaxed and fun.
A very good place to go before an opera or the symphony.
Barcino was a breath of fresh air. The dishes were prepared to perfection and the cocktails were delicious.
The food, drinks and ambiance were lovely. The manager was very helpful. Our server was polite, but unfocused and lacked any enthusiasm. Will return thiugh
The food is decent, but not worth the pricetag. We spent $370 on okay food for 3 people.
The food was excellent.
The service was OK - the best were the bus boys - they were efficient and friendly. The waiters were a bit into themselves - definitely not concerned with customers. The same applies to the hostess.
Too bad the staff was not wonderful - the evening could have been so much nicer if they had been.
Went to celebrate sister getting a new job! Staff was friendly, attentive. Food delicious. Great night, we’ll come back!
Awful food in a diner-like setting. I was just in Spain this summer and this was an absolute slap in the face. Would have rather eaten fast food
Great place for cocktails and Spanish-oriented bar bites. The service was friendly and helpful from the host->bar->table for dinner. They have a great selection of Vermut and other Spanish cocktails in addition to a full bar serving very capable "other" cocktails. The food was delicious with one exception... the meatballs. They were flavorful but overly salty. The Ibérico jamon was delicious. The portion was small but I understand I'm not in Barcelona! Great location, nice atmosphere. I was a chill place. My co-workers who live in SF say that there's better Tapas in the city. I was pleased.
Excellent food with friendly and fun service. We will definitely be back!
Very enjoyable meal, shared with friends prior to going to Hamilton. The ambiance and lighting was delightful and the food delectable. The service was wonderful. Great place. Try it out.
Always a wonderful experience at Barcino. The food and service are impeccable and I love the Gin Tonic menu. The Tortilla, Gambas, and seasonal salad were delish along with the Jamon Serrano and Pa as go-tos. Thanks for another amazing meal!
Overall place has gone down hill. Service was poor, waited over 20 minutes in between dishes. Octopus totally overpriced and covered in salad, was this just for decoration? Made it impossible to eat. Pretty disappointed, used to be one of my favorite
We had a celebration dinner on a Saturday night (not opera season). We were greeted warmly. They gave us a booth. Cocktails are a bit of a wait as the bar can get backed up. Food comes out pretty quick. It's a nice place for tapas. The dishes are classed by smaller to larger. Though I wish they were all a bit larger for the prices. There was s croquette dish that had one croquette which was challenging to share, so sharing can be a challenge for groups. However, I have been here a dozen times and love the place. People are friendly and do their best to be accommodating. The food has wonderful flavor combinations and the cocktails are fun. Gin tonics on draft? Yes!
Great tapas and cocktails and love the back in the day Fern bar experience.
4 of us had a pre-opera dinner. We arrived early for a 6 PM reservation and the waiter offered happy hour bargains-500 mL carafe of wine for $15, oysters $1/each as well as the menu. Food was excellent and filling. Hanger steak was particularly good as were the shrimp and beet and fennel salad. Service was excellent with serving plates cleared quickly and new plates provided during the meal. We will be back!
First time at Barcino will
Probably be my last time. While service was excellent and the waitstaff very attentive, they cannot make up for the menu and the prices. The gambas we shared were well done and garlicky but the beets with braised fennel was not great- the fennel was more stewed than braised and the flavor
Combo w an odd “hummus” just didn’t work at all. The potatoes were ok. Drinks were good but very $$$. And although we went early to go to a concert, I could barely hear my date over the loud ambient noise. All over - between 3 stars and 3.5 stars. And there should be an icon for overpriced stickershock
Barcino is nice place to dine. We had the chefs choice. With wine menu that went well together.
Your staff group needs more outgoing people.
The only real problem we had was the woman at the front. Her service was so apathetic and verging on grumpy. We met friends at the bar, very nice service, for pre dinner drinks and then checked in. She wanted to put us at the worst table in the back so we asked to wait until a better one opened up. She just didn’t care about her job and her attitude was rude and unappealing. Pity because I won’t be in a hurry to go back.
The food was good but nothing was suggested or expained to us. The waiter was very rude.
Went for pre-Symphony dinner. We had the set tapas menu. Everything was great except the meatballs that were way too salty.
Because of the Symphony, we had to rush off but we could’ve easily lingered to enjoy more.
