The music was really really loud. It was not a bar setting but like a nice sit down dinner so the blasting EDM didn’t really make sense. For context I’m only 21 and even I was thinking it’s too loud. Otherwise, the food was amazing, service was great, and the drinks were super good. It was expensive though so make sure to save up before going.
Horrible experience and the food sure has changed. We used to love this place for the carbonara, bolognese and salmon. The last time the carbonara wasn’t as good. Now they didn’t serve rigatoni and they serve these child like spaghetti o’s with a horrible sausage that’s not bolognese. More of a creamy tomato with huge pieces of sausage. That’s not bolognese! My food came out 3X and never even what I wanted. They offered me a new selector so I tried a pizza. They forgot the sauce & tomatoes that comes with it. Really? I asked for no cheese. When it came back with no cheese, there were still sprinkles of shaved parmigiana. Why is this is so difficult??? Still no tomatoes but a little sauce. So I ate 1/2 and we will never go back. Luckily our server was nice and felt bad but we were both so disappointed. Try Monzu for real Italian and homemade good pasta!
Half the menu was out of stock including all pizzas... Saw 4 pizzas come out after being told there were none. Gave us a deeply cracked shot glass.
Loved it! Celebrated a birthday
Love this place! delicious every time and the ambiance is awesome, its very pretty too!
Excellent service and food!
The food. was very good and awesome service. Service was the best I have had in many years. The music was so loud I could not hear the people at the table.
Because of the noise I won’t be going back. I did ask the awesome server if the music could be turned down and unfortunately the music was turned up.
I went outside while my husband and friends finished up the wine.
I loved this restaurant! While the interior decor was so beautiful, the food did not disappoint too!
My reason for marking low is due to the overall experience. The restaurant was nice and food was great. Everything was fine until our food arrived, one of our two entrees was wrong and it took about 20+ minutes to get the correct entree delivered. In this scenario it was awkward to sit and have my dinner companion basically eat alone or wait and eat cold pasta. There was no offer to take care of our wine or dessert or even take the entree off the bill. We also asked for bread repeatedly not knowing it doesn’t come with dinner service. I don’t mind adjusting but after spending over 100$ for a nice evening out I was very disappointed that our negative experience wasn’t even acknowledged.
This was our first time at Barbusa and it was excellent. The service was outstanding and the meals were delicious! They have a great wine list that we enjoyed as well! We will add this to our list of favorites !
Excellent service and authentic Sicilian fare. A bit too noisy but that’s just the way it is. Made another reservation on the spot.
excellent food & service was outstanding, good location
Great place for a quick bite. Nice ambience, great customer service
There for our honeymoon, it was a great experience.
Food was amazing as always. Service was great too. One thing really irked me and I feel like I should’ve said something in the moment, but I really love going there and didn’t want to embarrass my family. My father, who’s an older man, asked if instead of dessert our waiter could get him a cappuccino and his response was “I mean I could, but I’m kinda busy” … so he just said oh okay never mind. I wouldn’t normally complain but that was super rude. Especially when he’s the one that’s paying $450 already. I wouldn’t expect that at such a nice, high end restaurant
Very busy, noisy, and disappointed that after telling our server that it was my husband’s birthday, no happy birthday, no dessert, nothing. Felt we were rushed in and out.
For me, there weren't a lot of options on the menu that I liked or could eat. I finally did fine one option that I could eat which was very good.
Service was friendly but seemed focused on turning the table (we were there less than an hour so not like we monopolizing a table) and food, while tasty, lacked attention to detail (Ex: Caesar salad was drenched with dressing).
Everything was wonderful. Starting with the bartenders, wait staff, food and management! We celebrated my husband’s birthday! We took our family and everyone enjoyed the food and atmosphere. We are from out of town. A customer had introduced us to the restaurant back in the fall. We liked it so much we made it a point to go back! We will return!
We waited for 45 min for the food, and my pasta wasn’t tasty at all it didn’t have any flavor and the only flavor that I could taste was the plain pasta and the Parmesan cheese.
They removed my dish from my tap which was nice, but I left the place a little hungry and disappointed about my dinner :/
Wonderful food! Loud music, so not great for a romantic dinner, but excellent for a group dinner.
Outstanding food!! There were 4 of us and we all got different dishes. We thoroughly enjoyed all 4 options. Its pet friendly. Yay!!
Staff was very helpful. We even got little birthday song sung for my dad`s birthday in Italian and got a complimentary dessert.
Second time here, but with a group of 10 this time. Still OUTSTANDING service & food. Perfect portions & every single thing on the menu is incredible. Will come back time & time again!
The server was not very attentive. Also, we had reservations at 7pm, I ordered the veal and was told they ran out. Pretty early in evening to run out of veal on a Saturday night. Poor planning on chef or owner in prep for a Saturday night. On a positive, food was good and we were seated immediately upon checking in. I would highly recommend reservations.
Food and service were great. Sadly couldn’t hear anyone because the music was so loud, despite asking the waiter to please lower it three times. It was a bit frustrating especially having dropped $400 for dinner.
Service was outstanding. Every time we go to Barbusa, Service has been top-notch. Food was good and it was a relaxing time, no rush ever here. We always make reservations, never have to wait, highly recommended. Best spot in Little Italy.
Every time I’ve dinner here or came in for cocktails, the service, food, cocktails, and atmosphere has always been exceptional!!
The restaurant was extremely overcrowded and loud. We were seated at an outdoor table on the very end and right next to the valet. The service was slow and we did not receive all of the items we ordered. The food was fine but nothing special.
Nice location, good food. Except it is a little bit slow service, though. But overall good.
The food was absolutely fantastic! I came here to celebrate my boyfriends birthday and it exceeded all of my expectations. Was a great place to celebrate.
Barbusa is the best restaurant of San Diego. If you’re looking for tasty food, good vibes and delicious drinks, look no further. I would highly recommend Barbusa to anyone visiting San Diego. The staff is so nice and amazing from hostess to waiters to management!! Will definitely be coming back :)
We were there for a birthday. Food and staff were amazing. They did run out of dessert though, which was the only dissatisfaction to an otherwise perfect evening!
Love the energy, the food, the service and the list goes on.
Crazy that the appetizer and salad were my favorite part. Must get the squash blossoms and Caesar (the dressing is like a balsamic Caesar - yummy!) I got the oyster pasta and my husband got the lobster pasta, they were fine, but not the stars of the meal.
I had a lovel
Thanks for a nice evening & great food! It was great enjoying our meal outdoors.
Fun time. Great service. Wine list pricing was surprisingly reasonable. Food overall was quite good (although sea bass was a touch over cooked). Very noisy but after 15 months of dining at home, it was a welcome change to hear laughter and conversation
Amazing dinner!! We had the delicious garlic bread, the lobster pasta, rollatini, gnocchi and Bolognaise! Our server was tremendous! Manuel I believe! From Amalfi coast! The only thing I will say is that the music was very loud and it was hard to hear anything and the tables were too low and the chairs were too high so our legs didn’t fit right but other than that the food and the service was amazing! Can’t wait to go back! But I think we will request to dine outside next time so it’s a bit quieter ;) !
Thank you Barbusa!
Awesome night turned into drinking the night away with awesome music and food.
