Barbusa Ratings and Reviews
Too loud! Also as a diner with celiac disease this was a much more limited menu than other Italian restaurants. They didn’t have odd things, like olive oil for the bread, with an explanation it already had tomatoes on it. No gelato, no gluten free options for dessert, and this was my birthday dinner. The food was good, but did have a formula feeling. And impossible to converse at all. I didn’t see a distinction with existing places in Little Italy. I hope they can succeed.
A small group of us came here after enjoying seeing a musical. The hostess immediately greeted us and sat us early. We ordered the calamari and meatball appetizers to start. The calamari was tasty but didn’t have that crunch on the outside that I really love. It was served with two shrimp and a couple of sardine looking fish which was a little unappealing. The meatballs were delicious! We all loved our pasta dishes. It was probably some of the best pasta I have ever eaten. The pasta is homemade and you can taste the difference. My linguini and clams were amazing and so were the handkerchief pasta and a creamy pasta with pancetta. Service started out slow for us. We had to ask three times for our water glasses to be refilled. We noticed everyone else had a water bottle on their table so it may have been an oversight. Our service got better as the meal progressed.
We had a great dinner! The service was excellent and our waiter was very engaging. We had the squash blossoms and meatballs for appetizers; both were delicious. Everyone had a different pasta dish for dinner and everyone loved their dish. Would love to come back!
Bad service from our server. The food was great. The only help we got was from our busser. Server did not stop by once to check in. Wait over 20 minutes for another glass of wine and wasn’t even able to order. Skipped dessert because the service was so bad.
Fantastic service from Vincent, who we let pick our food for the evening. Our cocktails were great, and the atmosphere was lively. Lot’s of large groups the night we went, so a bit hard to hear. Love the big leather booths, bery comfortable. Great addition to Little Italy!
This was our second time at Barbusa, and it was even better than the first time! All of the servers are friendly and attentive - they really make you feel welcomed. The Fiori de Zucca (fried squash blossoms) are one of my favorite appetizers of all time....definitely a must! My husband loved the Carbonara con Piselli. I ordered the Bolognese al Forno and it was incredible. The portion was huge and I wanted the leftovers, but we were going straight to the theater afterward so I had to leave it behind. All of the Busalacchi restaurants are great, but I think that Barbusa is the best of all!
The music was kind of off putting for a weekday dinner. It was club music at a level that was a little too high. The noise level in the place is so loud you can barely have a conversation with your friend. The food was good overall but I would not return to this establishment.
I took my business partners to this restaurant on a Wednesday night, made reservations a week before. They sat us in a wobbily table in the corner. The restaurant was very loud! I couldn't even here the person next to me. The waiters were coming by every 5 min to take our appetizers which we had not finished. I felt like they wanted us to eat and get out so they could turn the table. The food was good but not fabulous!!!. I think if I came back I would sit at the bar. The waiter was amazing!!
Not great but not bad. Went for my birthday because I thought based off of reviews this was a nicer restaurant-definitely more of a dinner out place NOT a special occasion restaurant. Ordered food items were all missing something for example: the oysters came with cocktail sauce and were supposed to have a soy citrus with avocado (never mentioned by waitress- if they ran out it would have been nice to say something). No bread for the table. It was very lackluster. The pasta's were all drenched in very rich sauce. Lots of better choices in Little Italy.
I love this place usually. I had the pasta with sausage and bone marrow and although it sounded it delicious it lacked seasoning and was very bland. It needed lots of pepper. Fresh Parmasean helped . Could have used salt and fresh basil . I am not even a big salt person ! The Caesar salad was delicious. Will try again but may be one of those places where popularity makes it not care about food.
The food was delicious and very authentic. I had the pesto -delicious. We came with our children and it was great for them as well. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly. There are so many good restaurants in the area and this is up there with the others. I’d definitely recommend this restaurant and would absolutely go back.
This is not my favorite place. I was told by several friends that they served great gnocchi. Sadly, it was not on the menu anymore. When I placed a special request, I was told that they were too busy to accommodate me. I had to ask several times for bread that was supposed to be included. Cocktail drinks were prompt and delicious though.
We were a party of 3 - this is a sister property of Nonna just up the street which we have also dined and they too were eager to serve. From the time we entered we were greeted by Joey the Manager and we were a bit early but decided to wait for our original reservation which actually netted us a better table. The staff was friendly and polite. We had a variety of appetizers, of note was the Polenta served with Red Bolonase Sauce, what a treat - the flavors were fresh and delightful to the palate, the guys in the kitchen knew what they were doing. For drinks we had a nice mild body Proseco also very good. The vegetarian in our party also found a number of options making an overall pleasant experience. The rest of our pasta dishes were also very flavorful. I would definitely comeback for another round at this restaurant.
