Nos dieron nuestra mesa a la hora que la reservamos. La persona que nos atendió nos recomendó muy buenos platillos, todo estuvo riquísimo y los precios muy razonables.
Wow! All I can say is WoW! to the food, to the service. This is a gemstone in Little Italy, San Diego. We brought cousins from Illinois to eat there and they were very impressed. I must say, this place is ALWAYS full unless you want to be first in line when they open or try to get in 5 minutes before they close. Reservations way ahead are a must, especially for the 6-8 pm time block. We were lucky to get reservations of 8 pm. Because we had to wait, the staff took great care of us at the bar. The food and service was well worth the wait. I have eaten in many Little Italys including Boston, NYC, San Francisco, not to mention across BIG Italy, north and south. The food was well prepared, fresh, scrumptious, authentic, and presented beautifully. They have an extensive wine list and a full bar. Am I going back? I just returned from a 3-month eat-across-America trip, hitting all of the trendy and famous restaurants I could and I can truly say that this restaurant is worth traveling to San Diego. Five stars is not enough!
The service was outstanding from start to finish. The woman who seated us was excellent. She overheard a comment about the table she offered us and immediately offered two other tables that we liked better. Waiters were very attentive. The food outstanding.
I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes.
My go-to restaurant when I want fabulous food, fabulous service in a vibrant atmosphere. It’s where I take any friend or family visitor I want to impress!!!!!
I have never been disappointed here and I am truly confident I never will be.
See you again soon!
Great Little Italy experience. Servers were awesome. Food was authentic. Cocktails innovative.
Fantastic service and delicious handmade pasta dishes. It's our go-to date night Italian food spot. Energetic and friendly restaurant scene.
Too noisy. Too slow. Pasta was overcooked until it was mush.
I have been here twice and both times was not disappointed. The food quality is outstanding for the price and the service is good as well. The California Pizza has been a hit both times and the meatball appetizer was delicious. Generous pours of wine for decent prices. The cannoli dessert is worth the calories! The ambiance is amazing and very lively.
An unforgettable lunch... great hostess, great waiter, great setting, great food. We found this restaurant on Apple Maps while driving through downtown San Diego and made the reservation through Open Table. We were treated exceptionally, fed wonderful food and enjoyed our experience. The meatballs were divine with a sauce that we used bread to clean up the platter. The napkin pasta in pistacchio sauce was amazing. The dessert topped the experience off!
Good service. Good food although I would suggest they grate parmiggiano from a cheese block rather than serve it already grated (powdered) from a plate with a spoon! Fun atmosphere but can get too loud.
Not great Sicilian style food. Thought it would be aurhentic😢
Everything is awesome as always!
The squid pasta came stuck together, under cooked and chewy. The lobster was cut and placed under a full lobster tail.. but what you really get is about 5 tiny bits and small pieces. The rest of the food we tried was very average. The waiter was nice but made us feel rushed...Will not be going back.
Food was great, above average. The only thing I wouldn’t order again is the calmari— wasn’t bad but not nearly as good as everything else. All four of us were pleased with our meals.
Had lunch at Barbusa with a client recently. The service was great and so was the food.
Amazing! Will definitely be back!
Ahhhhh, Barbusa confuses. Delightful atmosphere, festive decor and layout, and the energy was great fun. Enjoyable just for the fun scene. Food was mostly beautiful....carpaccio great flavor, slightly different meat cut or seasoning that was really good, lamb lollipops very good. We also had the oysters...and this is where the service got confusing. They served two types of oysters, both of which were great, one type particularly delicious. We asked the food expediter what type they were, and he said he didn't know, and thought we were joking by asking. We then asked the waiter (otherwise a charming and delightful man), and he said they were from West Virginia....yes, West Virginia!!! He also thought they were serving just one type, but it was clearly two types of oysters. He walked away confused, might have asked the kitchen, and came back to say some were from Maine and the others from West Virginia...but didn't know which were which....and still thought oysters are actually from West Virginia! But the oysters were excellent, no matter where from. The pasta was perfectly done al dente style. My carbonara was great, loved every bit of it. On the other hand, my friend's pesto dish was too rich, and even visually looked like it was a pesto soup with a few layers of pasta...the waiter noticed she didn't eat it, and proactively brought her a new dish. The service staff has great heart, clearly having fun and reasonably attentive, and that alone would bring me back to Barbusa. The food was mostly great as well, and the fun energetic vibe (but not obnoxious) is hard not to enjoy.
Amazing food and atmosphere
It was great as usual. Nino and Joey made it special for Kat going away dinner
I do not live in SD but visit for a month every February. I ate at Barbusa last year and knew I had to come back. The food and service were once again excellent. The Sicilian menu is creative and you will not find many dishes in other Italian restaurants.
The bad: Food was bland and undercooked; my pasta stuck together. Servers rushed us out for no apparent reason as the restaurant was half empty. We were in and out in less than an hour. Server had his thumb on my plate before asking if he could take it away - I had half left and was still eating.
The good: the wine was lovely and atmosphere pleasant.
With a reservation, we waited 25 minutes to be seated at a table so close to the front door that we had to wear our jackets throughout dinner. The noise level was unbearably loud and the food, uneven. My husband ordered the pork chop and was very satisfied with his meal. My roast chicken was overdone and tasted as if a ton of vinegar was poured over it just before it was served. Our server was very professional and offered to make me anything else that I wanted , but at that point, all I wanted to do was get out of an uncomfortable, overcrowded loud environment.
We are visiting from New York and decide to eat at this restaurant that we chose through open table. We were seated quickly at a table all the way in the back corner of the restaurant .If we were any further back we would have been out the door. The way our table was situated we were very close to another table The hostess showed us to the table.and walked away .We had to pull the table out and I practically had to climb over the seat to get to my seat. The couple who had their backs to our table was so close to us the woman was flipping her hair and it was very unsanitary and rude. All and all I would not recommend this restaurant due to our experience.
Great service and fabulous food.
Amazing experience! Highly recommend... food and wait staff was attentive
While food is good; the restaurant is exceedingly noisy, table very close together and you are hurried out. Not a relaxing venue. Seems they are trying to get as many as possible in and out the door.
Food is always great, however as usual, the service needs improvement. We didn’t get seated until 20 minutes AFTER reservation time and we always needed to hunt down our server. This is nothing new. I visit frequently because the food is amazing but the service ALWAYS sucks!! Even at the bar!
Excellent Carbonara and Chianti! Very noisy but great space for groups.
I usually shy away from little Italy, the food tends to be over-priced and only “okay” Italian food. After a trip to Tuscany, I’m admittedly obnoxious about it. But this was great, Italian and modern, great flavors, service, atmosphere and Duane break the bank.
Dirty and average food
Outstanding food, great service, a bit on the pricey side. But this place is LOUD. We were a table of 4, and we were literally shouting at each other at the table and still could barely hear ourselves. It's a shame, because everything else was great. But we won't be back, because we couldn't hold any sort of conversation and left with our ears ringing. This place needs professional sound dampening.
The food was delicious. You can taste the flavors in each dish and appreciate the level of detail that goes into it. Atmosphere is a bit loud and tables are very close in proximity. The only dish we didn't care for too much was the tiramisu. Go with the deconstructed cannoli instead :)
Great experience at Barbusa! Suggested to me by someone so my best friend and I went there after a concert at Copley symphony Hall. I had the granchio (w/pieces of northern crab) pasta dish, and it was delicious! Tried my friend's squid ink with pieces of lobster truffle oil pasta dish and it was also superb! The lambchop lollipops we shared for appetizers were fantastic and perfectly cooked! The little bread thing you get on the house when you sit down is nothing to rave about, that's fairly mediocre. Both of our cocktails (negroni and aperol Spritz) and wines (an Italian red and a Chilean red) were very nice. The ambience was lovely, cool, and pleasant. Definitely worth going to! The food is what really makes it worth it; looking forward to going back to try more of what's on the menu to see if it's consistently fantastic across the board.
Wonderful lunch, great waiter and great food as usual!
Great food and service! We enjoyed a wonderful meal among friends. We had ravioli, antipasto and a chianti classico wine.
Food was bland. Polenta was cold and hardened. Service was basically one waiter on Sunday at 11:30am covering all the tables. One more waiter came on by he time we left.
It always great food, service and ambience!!
