Barbusa Ratings and Reviews
Barbusa is a fun place in a fun location. Very good food. We had pastas, which were good, although I probably wouldn't get the lobster pasta again as the lobster was probably frozen (was tough). My husband's funghi pasta was terrific. The service is friendly. I'd definitely go back. Highly recommend!
First time at Barbusa, celebrating my 29th Birthday! Everything was great! From the food, to the service, and to the overall atmosphere. It was just a great way to spend the evening around family and friends and a great meal. Thank you, Barbusa, for an awesome dining experience. I will definitely be back!
The restaurant came highly recommended so we were excited to try it. 2 of us had the short ribs...although the flavor was delicious, the portion was very small and the meat was a bit chewy. It was so loud that it was difficult to hear others at our table - there were only 4 of us.
We had a great meal at Barbusa, however, the service was TERRIBLE! Luckily another server noticed us sitting there waiting for our drinks and waiting for the table to be cleared for a good half hour before she came over and asked us if we needed anything and bought us a round of drinks. I don't even remember her name but she couldn't answer any of our questions and responded that she doesn't usually wait tables because she's behind the bar so didn't know anything. I know people order food at the bar so that's a bit confusing...I think I would return but would hope for better service.
Monday was not a busy day, yet the hostess put our party of 3 adults in a small 3x3 table. I asked if we can get a bigger table since there were so many open tables. The hostess threw the menus on a larger table and walked away sayong "now you got a larger table". I couldn't believe she talked to us in that manner and I complained to the manager about it.. Food didn't taste that great after that..
Outstanding on every level, we started the night on a wrong footing when our table was not ready in time, they made up for it in spades. The excellent customer service very outstanding, great food, and excellent bar choices.
Would highly recommend this place for anyone wanting to enjoy their evening. A must to try.
Started the experience and ended with impeccable and seasoned assistance from Mario. The branzino sea bass was excellent paired with pasta tossed with simple oil, garlic and bit o butter. Our lemon sorbet was served in a hollowed frozen lemon... looking forward to experiencing rest of menu.
This was my second time at Barbusa. I've now been there on a Tuesday and a Saturday night. This restaurant has moved squarely into 1st Place on my recommended list of "Best Italian Restaurants in the Greater San Diego area". Preparations are unique, service each time was impeccable. Corkage fee = $20 (very reasonable).
It was just about perfect the Sicilian spiced steak, was excellent, the risotto seafood magnificent. We met a couple from Sweden, they made our great night even better. Is that enough words......??? Seriously, a great place, So is Gaslamp area and the hookah bar Myst, where we ended up!
Had a great dinner with my wife for her birthday! Server was very attentive & the food was excellent. Had a good wine selection and some great local brews. They even song happy birthday to my wife in Italian! Definitely plan on going back next time I am in SD.
Overall the food and ambiance was amazing. I went there with friends to celibrate two of our birthdays and wrote it in the reservation notes, I was disappointed that none of the staff mentioned it and after we paid the tab a friend had to tell our server if we could have one of the kitchens birthday amenities.
Did not live up to the hype. The food was good but nothing phenomenal, it is also extremely loud where you are yelling at each other across the table. The cheese board was one of the worst we ever, we tried two different pastas which were good and the calamari was sub-par. We wont' be going back.
Nothing, and I mean nothing about this place disappointed! The food and service were both equally stellar. If you love Italian food, do not miss this place if you are in the area. It's fun to go with several people and approach the menu family style if it is your first experience. We ordered SEVERAL appetizers, salads, pastas, a pizza, and two desserts, and there was not a single dish I would not order again...absolutely fantastic, all of it!
One of our favorite restaurants in Little Italy, they have awesome food and drinks! My husband has a gluten allergy and Barbusa has mastered their gluten free pasta!! I love their pesto gnocchi and their fresco drink is light and delicious! They have TVs and show sports yet its upscale and classy - great date night location!!
We had a reservation for our anniversary and were seated right away. We then sat there for 15 minutes without anyone even making eye contact with us. They served tables around us, but no one came near us. We decided to leave and had a wonderful meal with great service elsewhere.
